We've converted our popular Money eurogame (by master Reiner Knizia) for the iPad. Here's the complete press release we put out on the topic:

Skotos Tech has extended its successful iPhone gaming app, Reiner Knizia's Money, by producing a new iPad conversion which will become available this Saturday, April 3.

This new iteration of Reiner Knizia's Money makes use of the iPad's bigger screen to produce a better gaming experience. The app's gaming table is larger and the cards are higher resolution. New sidebars provide for easy access to buttons without covering up the gaming table. The game now runs in any orientation, allowing you to always pick up your iPad and play immediately. However, the biggest change is that the larger iPad screen has allowed for the addition of a fifth player to the game.

"This reflects our continued support for mobile eurogames," says developer Shannon Appelcline. "In optimizing Money for the iPad, we've extended our core gaming engine, which means that all of our future games will enjoy these same advantages." Work has already begun on Skotos' next two mobile eurogames, Reiner Knizia's High Society and Reiner Knizia's Kingdoms. In addition, talks are underway with other tabletop designers to bring their games to the iPhone.

Current players of Reiner Knizia's Money should find a free upgrade available which will allow for play on the iPad as soon as it arrives. New gamers who are interested in buying Reiner Knizia's Money will find it available in the Apple iTunes Store on the third.

Developer Shannon Appelcline has also written an article discussing Converting an iPhone App for the iPad in iPhone in Action, the blog companion to his iPhone programming book.

Now, that's a nice surprise. Thanks

You're quite welcome.

I'm actually surprised to see some people offering different versions for the two devices. I figure if people bought our game, they should get to play our game on whichever device they prefer ... unless we did a really massive rewrite I suppose.

Wow, thanks! I'm looking forward to trying out this new version when my 3G iPad arrives.

Picked up the app last night and I have enjoyed the few games I have played.

There are a few thinks I would like to see, though:

1) Size of banners. Seems a shame that so much space needs to be taken up for the menu bar and title banner/score.

2) When starting a new game, provide the option of selecting the Human Player so that each person playing on the iPad can have their own stats - just like it is being done with the AI players.

I got it, but I have no idea how to play! :) I have gotten kicked by the computer AI in 4 games so far, but I am probably getting better...well maybe.

I barely know what I'm doing either but have at least latched onto a basic tactic that has won a few games for me. Early on, based from your initial hand of cash, pick two currencies as your "Home Team". Now just get rid of all currency not of that Home Team and hone in on any lot offer (or reveled opponents' bids) that will further build up either of your primary focus currencies. Also worth noting, while total value of those currencies is probably most important, getting at set of 3-20s or 3-30s in a currency gives you a nice bonus as well. While sometimes you might have to, try to NOT bid with either those two home currencies whenever possible. Follow this advice and you should amass a decent collection BUT it doesn't even help you with any sort of good offensive tactics to thwart what your opponents might be actively collecting as I pretty much just stay focused in my own little world when playing the game.

When ready for more advanced stuff try to actually gauge which currencies your opponents seem to have already largely collected and avoid giving them any more ammunition. A nasty tactic the AI has used against me, and I can't believe it accidental, is to make a high bid with currency I'm actively collecting and grab my bid with it. So the AI then is GUARANTEEING this big wad of currency I'm so clearly gunning for I can't collect by making it my bid (essentially the money you are throwing out this turn since there is no way to immediately claim back the money going out as a bid).

if you have 20,20,20,30,30,30 in one currency that is worth the sum + bonuses. Sum = 150 (which isn't over 200 so it's minus 100) so it's worth 50. But you have two nice 100 bonuses for 3 20's and 3 30's. so total is 250.

If you get 20,20,30,30,40,50,60 in one currency sum is 250 which is OVER 200. So sum is 250.

The best though is get one currency with sum of at least 200 with one or two bonuses.
20,20,20,30,30,40,50 = sum is 210 + 100 bonus for 3 20's = 310

obviously best as it says in rules is monopoly of all currency.
20,20,20,30,30,30,40,50,60 = 300 + 100 + 100 = 500 (two bonuses)

Thanks for the tips, guys. I was having some trouble figuring it out. I got lucky and won my first game by earning almost 800 points (770 I think), but haven't even come close since. Your hints will help.

In one 4 player game of me vs. AI, I think Vern clocked in a win at 1,000!
