Yep, new wallpaper thread for iPad this time. :P :) :D I got my iPad launch day and have been having a hard time finding good wallpapers for it (lockscreen + homescreen). So I thought a thread would be a good idea.

I'll start:

Lockscreen:

Homescreen:

Obviously since the iPad is so much bigger, not a lot of people will be making wallpapers for it, but if you find any out there that would work well as a iPad wallpaper (for either homescreen or lockscreen), post it!

If we're gonna have an iPad wallpaper thread, wouldn't it make sense to post images that actually match the iPad's screen resolution? So far this is just "wallpaper thread".

They're almost the iPad's screen resolution, the iPad just stretches them a bit and it fits perfectly.

Shrinks 'em you mean. It's not as though you can't find any at 1024x768, it was the most popular resolution for years, gotta be millions of them around. I can't stand my images looking out of proportion.

It's been a long while, but I'm back.

Back in the day I made quite a few iPhone wallpapers, now with the new larger iPad screen (don't actually own one yet :( , live in Aus) it should be even more fun with much more creative space to use :D

So, if anyone wants a personalised iPad wallpaper with their name, favourite picture or whatever you want, feel free to ask and I shall deliver :)

PS. Hi Danny :) quick question, seeing as you own the iPad, if you rotate the iPad to a horizontal view from portrait, what exactly does this do with the image? ie. stretch it width wise, shrink it vertically? or some other method? ty

I'm guessing it stretches them. Found this at MacRumors, might be useful.

Yeah that is useful, I thought they'd use a technique like that. If you're making a wallpaper for iPad, best use 1024x1024 size with centralised elements.

Wow, this thread is too short! I don’t have my iPad yet, but I made a couple of wallpapers that I THINK should do some neat things when you turn your iPad between portrait and landscape.

They are meant for your HOME screen, not your lock screen. And they’ll work best if you have 6 icons in your dock.

That ipadbackdrops.com site is pretty painful to scroll through on the iPad. Two finger scrolling and no momentum?

FYI, I used a 1024x1024 "Don't Panic" wallpaper (probably the same one as in the OP) and the iPad didn't squish the image, instead it cropped it. Looks fantastic as a lock screen! Thanks for pointing that thing out.

Also learned that you can press and hold on an image in Safari and save it to the photo library. From there you can make it your wallpaper.

Because of limitations with mobile safari, the site doesn't display properly without two finger scrolling. But I've received several comments about it so I'll remove two finger scrolling and just have it display without a full sidebar for the time being.

Thanks for the input!

Edit: it's been changed, give it a go now and tell me what you think.

I will try it out a bit later. Thanks for the quick change!
