I picked this up yesterday. It's actually really fun, especially with another person. The back and forth nature of it + the tie breakers makes it a fantastic pick up and play game.

I actually bought it, while the presentation is really nice, it's basically a dressed up version of blackjack with very few features or incentive to keep playing. I was bored with it after about 10 minutes. The graphics are cool, I suppose this could make the foundation of a decent game.

I normally don't like being overly negative on a game because a lot of these developers work hard and face a rough app environment, but there are some questionable overly positive reviews of this game, so I felt like I should give my honest opinion.

The game is also half the price of the other games you mentioned. I mean give me a break. For 2.99 the game is a blast, especially with a friend. Are you going to sit there and play it for 3 hours? No, but that's not how it was intended to be played. It's a quick pick-up game. Additionally, I find the art and style pretty damn good.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, of course. But one post is enough. To start attacking other people for their views is kind of silly.

We have been working on new and refreshing ideas for this format...( which is what it terribly needs) we could've made the same old boring games! We, as avid gamers with a passion for what we do, have tried to deviate from the norm... Yeah..! let's copy doodle! NO.. we are different! Yes the game is inspired by "BlackJack" it clearly states that. This is only the beginning, we are currently working on new tie breakers, new themes and some surprise twists to elevate the game further.

The theme and art style remind me of Billy and Mandy (Cartoon Network) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grim_Adventures_of_Billy_&_Mandy). I can see games like this really taking off with people using their iPads as board game replacements but I'd love to see this get online multiplayer as well.

Oh one thing to note that you might want to change is when you start a single player game you have to hit ready on both your side of the board and the AI's to start the game.

Hey, thanks for giving "Battle of the Block" a whirl.. We are currently working on a major update that includes a new "ThemePack" and new mini tie-breaker games, a trailer will be posted shortly on the app store.

I gave this a shot since it was on the whats hot section of the app store. Didn't really know what to expect since it has some mixed reviews, but its cool.
Its got an interesting twist on regular boring blackjack. I'm looking forward to see what other tie breakers come out.

But I can't help but wondering if it could be a little better. It seems like this game really needs some sort of power ups or other items to add a little more strategy to the game. You've got the different "gangs" to choose from but they don't seem to do anything different. This is something that could really help this game stand out.

Some examples could be simple like; winning with doubles scores more damage, being able to split cards or "double down" to get inflict more damage (or get hit harder if you lose). There could be powers with the gangs. You could have a gang that has a "Crazy 8's" power and they score more damage when they win with an "8" in their hand, or the "Suicidal" gang that gets power from one of the suicide cards. You could even get a power that allows you to steal a card from the other player, or maybe let you take off two points from you score when you bust... I could go on...

Anyway, there are many things that could help turn this game into something as fun as Sword & Poker... well, at least close to it.

Here's hoping the Devs take some time to add a little more muscle into what they are calling a "killer app".

Your in for a surprise..We'll be posting some screen shots shortly with the new gameplay features that will blow your mind.

Ver 1.0 will stay as is.. And a reworked and muscled up Ver 2.0 will be released in a few weeks.

Funny how so many many new members registered to this site just to post in this thread... As for the game, I'm not sure where you get off claiming it as the iPad's first killer app since 1) You're the developer and things like that are supposed to be said in reviews and 2) Nothing against your game, but there are far better ones in the app store. You also released a solitaire game recently touting it as the first killer solitaire app for the iPad, says who?

Battle of the Block is under a major overhaul..which will include power-ups, single player story gameplay, four new Groups..Pirates, Zombies, Ninjas & Robots which will now have the capabilities to battle over block dominance. Also added will be achievements and leader-boards with monthly top score prizes. We are now looking at June 1st release date.
