Update: We're done! 10 hours later and we have a "Pass 'n Play" multiplayer game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2nJeZb8DYM
Jason and Jakob here from Aurora Feint (www.aurorafeint.com). We're rocking out with everyone at the game jam tonight. Woot!
We'll give you a look into how games are made and keep posting as we have stuff to show. Attached are some of our early thought sketches!
GAME PREMISE:
You're stuck in class and the teacher's gone missing. What do you do? Grab some chalk and start battling! Draw your cannons, plop down some obstacles, and fire away. It's like iShoot meets Warheads for your chalkboard! If we pull it off we're even going to add in internet multiplayer with OpenFeint.

Fantastic idea on both covering the development of the game, and the game idea! Online would rock!

And now we've got some fancy stuff running in game!
We've got chalkboard planets, tanks (without cannons), and bullets.
You can shoot the bullets when you click. Where you click changes the intensity and the direction.
Jakob added in collision, so the bullets are removed when they hit the screen edge
I added in gravity, so the bullets bend and curve around the planets
And check-out the sketches I did while trying to figure out how gravity works. Vector math for the win!

Doing the final tuning on the gravity. Put in some turn indicators and a win score! Almost there :-)

Tada: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2nJeZb8DYM
We're still putting some finishing tweaks on it but you guys can see the basic idea there.
Was a blast cranking this out in just 10 short hours!

And the photoshop file I put together to pull art from.
Maybe we'll add these other bullet and object types in our next hackathon!

Just watched the video of this (catching up on all the great game jam ideas) and awesome concept! It already looks like tons of fun, hope it gets finished up and released!
Great job, Jason and Jakob!

Video shows a bug at 0:49 ? Player wind although the bullet definitely hits an obstacle.

Great idea.
this idea has been thought of so I would think you would have to add some unique details.
Other than that, it looks great.
