Current rank is 2 stars. Wondering if maybe the controls didn't transfer over well? I'll have to give it a try tonight.

I remember a while ago this was released on iPhone (under a different name).
It was free, but as you can guess, it just didn't work because it was to fiddly to press the tiny buttons. Maybe it will work better on the iPad.

For some reason it's showing that it hasn't been rated for me.

I've been messing around with the game a little bit and it definitely wasn't optimized for the iPad...seems like a direct port of the unix version and even looks as it would under X Windows (Unix/Linux)...as so, you have to push the little x on the top left of each window, and the icons on the top of the playing field could have been bigger. It's definitely playable and the game itself is good so far, but an increased font size and some bigger icons would do this game justice.

That's not good...

I downloaded it yesterday. If it's not there now, it's been pulled for some reason.

pulled by the original creators even though Zod wasn't in violation of anything

bummer ZOD. I luckily grabbed it yesterday when it was announced. Sounds like the original creators are being lame about it.

well, the first comment on http://www.zodttd.com/wp/2010/04/open-up-openttd-to-apple-devices/ is from Rubidium.

he's willing to lift the pull request if a few requirements are met.

i don't get why he didn't just email Zod to get that fixed in a 1.0.1 release ...

After playing it for a while I have to say it needs an update! The buttons are way too small ... it is the same problem as on the iPhone. :(

It is great that they made a port for the iPad /iPhone but with a "simple port" the work is not done at all!

On a Netbook screen with the same size you can use the mouse pointer. But on an iPad you have to use your fingers ... so all the elements for inputs have to be big enough that they are really usable ... so I hope if it comes back to the Appstore they will make a real update for it ...

Sascha

I had the same issue. Got really worked up over this game but it just takes too long when trying to click the tiny buttons.

Hoping for an update and it looks promising if you read the comments in the link.

It is really too bad that it has been pulled because this game really hasnso much potential for being a great iPad game. The controls are lacking but the game is playable (though a little frustrating) and would love for the developer to fix the controls to make it more useable on the touch screen.

Crossing my fingers that this gets reproved and redesigned.

Just was reading on zodtd and it looks like the original open source team has sent an email giving them the OK to un-pull the app.

That still doesn't clean up the touch control issues.

But it is still unplayable! The buttons and menus are much too small for the touch screen ...

This could be a great game but it need some work ...

Sascha

And it looks like it has been pulled again :( I wanted to play it after I installed the hack to let you use a Bluetooth mouse with the iPad
