Hey all, I've ported the original Nano Fighter to the iPad!
I added a grid in the background that takes care of the feeling that you're staying in one spot :)

Registered just in time to shill. This iPad edition of Nanofighter is exactly the same as the iphone/itouch version except for the button layout. Geometry Wars is the way to go for anyone with an iPad. When Meteor Blitz is updated to be compatible with ipad, then that will also be a better choice than Nanofigher. On the other hand, if one just can't get enough of dual-stick shooters, then Nanofighter is a solid enough game to try out.

Although Nanofighter was a decent enough dual-stick iPhone shmup back when there were very few such games available, this non-updated iPad edition (except for resolution and button layout) isn't worth the time it takes to play it (e.g. the 70+ levels are 1 minute each).

Pros:
-good style and color scheme.
-soundtrack is non-irritating despite being repetitive, and gels with the visuals
-great virtual stick responsiveness
-difficulty ramp-up seems relatively sane compared to that of similar games.
-stage select
-game state is automatically saved upon exiting the app

Cons:
-Bomb button is placed too close to the firing control, causing error. I haven't had trouble reaching the centrally located one in Geometry Wars, so not having the option to relocate it in this game is disappointing.
-Repetitive gameplay with just one game mode. There is very little strategy involved in progressing from level to level, and score depends entirely on maintaining the multiplier, which is reset to 1x at the slightest brushing of any enemy or bullet. The "geom" system in Geometry Wars Touch is far, far better because the multiplier in the latter never decreases.
-lacks black holes, reflective gates, special items, ship maneuvers, or any of the other elements used to make these types of games more engaging.

Since Apple has featured Nano Fighter under "new and noteworthy" I put it on sale, now it's only $0.99. :)
