Telling Gameloft to stop announcing games just seems odd. We want them to announce more games. And they have been developing and releasing quality games at an outstanding rate in the past, asking them to release splinter cell quickly just seems pretty unreasonable seeing as they are always churning out new games at an impressive rate (especially when you take into account the quality). I assume you are about 13, in which case you have nothing to worry about ;)

Hero of Sparta was one of the first games that showed how the iPhone could be a serious game machine. Gameloft has come a long way since then and here's hoping it will be a little closer to God of War on the PSP :)

That's strange. You are using a 3GS (the most powerful device) and it's still choppy? I'm using my 2G iPhone (one of the slower devices) and it runs perfectly smoothly.

I kinda agree that in certain instances the 3gs has a few hiccups
there and here. However I wouldn't call it unplayable, as my 3gs tends to only slow done when I have like ten or eleven enemies on screen at once.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting the 4G this summer (or whenever it's launched). I've managed with my original 2G iPhone for almost 3 years now, I think it's probably time to upgrade :)

I still have my 1st gen that I let my daughter use to play games on and will never get rid of it and come this summer I will have 4 iPhones. Frankly, what would make the sequel worth playing for me is faster, smoother animation combined with truly visceral sound. HoS1 had fairly coarse animation and the sounds were anemic. I would love something that looked and sounded more like Tehra...

I agree with that the first one played really slow in animation. I've even compared the game on my wife's 3g and my 3gs and yeah it runs better on mine, but there are many times where the game seemed to move a slug's pace when too much activity was happening on screen. One thing gameloft needs to start doing is getting better at colors for their games they are too warm colored and a game about death and destruction should have dark and gloomy colors and this game looks all nice and calming colors.

STP just had a hands on with this and I cannot wait. Looks a lot better than the 1st and has 3GS optimization. It has 12 levels and takes about 5 hours to beat. According to STP, the story is great.

I think the general texture resolution and polygon count is definitely higher than Avatar as well. Looks better than Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia too, although Hero of Sparta's art direction with bright colors and a stylized look gives it an advantage since it looks more generally pleasing.

What Gameloft has been able to do with the PowerVR MBX in first and second gen devices has been very impressive over the last 2-3 years, but I'm thinking we're only now scratching the surface of what the PowerVR SGX in third gen devices is capable of. I can't wait to see what a third gen exclusive title with no backwards compatible baggage would be capable of.

Have we actually seen many of those. Most so far have been upgraded iPhone titles or something like Mirror's Edge which was really originally developed for iPhone and is iPad exclusive mainly in name.

In any case, both the third gen iPhone and iPod Touch and the iPad use the PowerVR SGX535, but the iPad has to drive 5 times the number of pixels. The iPad GPU is no doubt clocked higher, but not 5 times. So I'm thinking if there is going to be a graphical tour de force on iDevices, it'll be on the third gen iPhone and iPod Touch and not the iPad. Even the 4th gen iPhone will likely have less power per pixel than 3rd gen devices if it uses an underclocked Apple A4 but quadruples the pixel count as speculated.

The concept of dragging the attack button for combos is actually pretty ingenious.

Because gameloft wanted PoP to be in may, but it conflicted with the PoP retro (by ubisoft) and splinter cell. The next logical date was next week.

The menu hasn't been fixed on PoP:WW yet.

The game is still completely playable and is by far my favorite iPhone game, but there hasn't been an update/fix for the menu issue yet.

I do absolutely recommend everyone buy PoP when it becomes available again. I've bought about 150 iPhone games, and PoP is by far the best, most epic, most complete, most fun, fully realized game out of all of them. Great controls, great gameplay, great level design, great graphics, and great animations.

I do absolutely recommend everyone buy PoP when it becomes available again. I've bought about 150 iPhone games, and PoP is by far the best, most epic, most complete, most fun, fully realized game out of all of them. Great controls, great gameplay, great level design, great graphics, and great animations.

Personally I think it's easily the best looking game I've got on my iPod ATM. Those long loading times aren't really suprising though, it is a pretty big game. I wonder if this is ever going to come out, when it does I doubt anyone will buy it. Whatever hype there was is more than likely dead and it doesn't look that good anyway.

It's not a flipping good port. It's a bad one. It's best looking game on iPod/iPhone because it's a PORT. Get rid of the hiccups (loading times) and it's a good port. Give it extras (new enemies, new levels) and that will make it a GREAT port. Dig?

I remember in the description that this game has exclusive 3GS graphics, well i wish this game has better graphics on third generation devices i mean not only the gloom effect that Gameloft always use but better textures, shadows and lighting effects would be nice, look at Zen bound 2 the app is just gorgeous on 3rd Gen devices esp. on Hi-res Display like on Iphone 4. All that, however, was ruined by the overall weightlessness of the experience. There was nothing visceral about the game: you got no feedback from a sword strike, no ohmph, and the sound design was simply dreadful. Add to that a poor framerate (even on the 3GS) and you got yourself a pretty awful video game.

I trust that Gameloft can do a lot better this time, especially after games like Blades of Fury and Zombie Invasion.

I trust that Gameloft can do a lot better this time, especially after games like Blades of Fury and Zombie Invasion.

Agree with everything here, except the frame rate part. When I played HoS on my iPod 2G, I didn't experience any framerate problems.

I actually agree with this, but my views are a bit more nuanced. HoS did a lot of things right, and it's not surprising that people were (and some still are) impressed with it. The environments were suitably epic, the combat system was actually pretty good, the upgradable weapons and quick-time kills added some depth. All that, however, was ruined by the overall weightlessness of the experience. There was nothing visceral about the game: you got no feedback from a sword strike, no ohmph, and the sound design was simply dreadful. Add to that a poor framerate (even on the 3GS) and you got yourself a pretty awful video game.

i agree only too the sound part ....btw framerate when i played on my ipod touch 2g was good and on my iphone 3gs was super great :P

When I played on my 2G, I experienced quite a lot of framerate problems. Especially near the end where they seemed to have thrown in a ton of particle effects and stuff.
