next update i would like a Free mode.. just slicing the fruits.. Maybe with a tutorial in it how to get unbeliaveble blitz and that stuff. Also a time adder mode where combos give you more time and you see how long you last. I would like a Stats Page, you know -> How many Fruit you have sliced, a Ranking - Sensei, Grasshopper, Seedling :D, etc., How many of each type of fruit u have sliced, Blade Editor. Sorry for bad english im a 14 year old Dane :) I also hope theres more fruits.. man you forgot many.. for example you should add pomgranits, peaches, necterines, kiwano, cantalope, honey dew. also grapes, blue berries, cherries, and cranberries in bunches. and even though pumpkins are vegtibles they would still be fun to chop. --- Adrian Nicolaj Zaporowski

Same problem here. First "preparing game", then timeout, then I try again and the Game Center screen doesn't even appear. Restart game, try again, same problem. Really frustrating.

Sometimes it doesnt even get past "Starting game..."

We WANT to add new achievements, but have actually reached the maximum number of points! Game Centre now has a full 1000 points, so we need to work something out where we can either get more points, or somehow edit down some of them to be a bit smaller (especially some of the 1.0 achievements).

The party blade of course is the easiest. Would be embarrassing if you don't unlock it on your first attempt. Hope in the next update we also get a new game mode. It's great that some of the new blades take some time to complete. Hopefully though in maybe the next update, at least one blade is relatively difficult to achieve. Something like reach a score of 400 in classic without dropping a fruit.

To be honest, I'm loving the pixel blade. Don't have the piano blade, had a super busy day, but I'm almost there...

If you need ideas for future requirements, which you probably don't right now, I think getting to maybe 100 points in classic mode using only horizontal swipes or something like that would be interesting. (and somewhat challenging for players who scribble around the screen ALL the time :P)

First lock your iPad screen orientation. Then launch the game and turn your iPad upside down (the screen will stay upside down). Select Zen mode and play it this way. You have to score 175 and above to unlock Shadow Blade.

Can't believe you've had iOS 4.x all this time without being aware of where the orientation lock went. Anyway, just double tap the home button to go to the multitasking bar, then swipe left to go to the music and screen orientation controls. Seriously, Apple wouldn't have simply obliterated that orientation lock feature, especially for the iPad.

This is one of my favorite games and after played for so many times I'm still interested in it. It's just perfect whether the graphic or the sound, the background picture or the design of the blade. I have unlocked all the background and the blade but I still like playing it when I have time. I like the Butterfly Knife Blade and Ice Blade. Just so beautiful.

Agreed. I just ignore the leaderboards but I can see where it's annoying for really good players who are near the top. So glad this got multitasking support and new blades! Great game and in my favorites folder!

Yeah, the leader board hacking is pretty out of control. Its not just in Fruit Ninja either, Cut the Rope and Tiny Wings are both decimated as well from what I can tell.

Right now, we clean out about 500 hacked scores on the Openfeint LBs almost daily. Sadly, we don't have a way of managing the Game Center leaderboards... we can't remove obviously hacked scores or anything :(

We are trying a couple of different things to try and alleviate the problem, but its a pretty big can of worms. One simple thing we have been moving towards, is focusing more on your Friends leaderboards rather than the global ones. But regardless it is a big problem and we are aware of it and we are trying to do something about it.

It is really a great and classic Ninja game and one of the must-have games. It's simple to play and addictive game which you can't stop easily once you got this. I have played for quite a long time and got 222 for the classic mode and 212 for the zen mode and 361 for the arcade mode. Really fun.

What's New in Version 1.7
The pomegranate blasts its way into Classic and Arcade mode in this juicy new update! Slice it as many times as possible before it bursts apart, clearing away bombs and destroying all the other fruit around it!

The pomegranate breathes new life into classic mode, allowing you to get even higher scores. In Arcade mode it is a great last chance to grab those critical extra points and beat your best!

Not content with just adding the amazing new pomegranate, we have also added a new relaxing musical score for the Dojo.

Plus, your friends all time best scores can now be viewed in the results screen, so you can easily check out which of your friends is the greatest ninja of all!

Also, has anyone here experienced any crashes on the new Fruit Ninja update? We have had a tiny amount of reports, seems to be happening on old devices with iOS 3.1.3. If anyone here has 3.1.3 installed, I'd love to hear from you!

If that happens, I think you get 40 bonus points. So I deliberately tried to only slice the pomegranate twice, but the number skipped from 1 to 3... A bit suspicious?

and updated the game and played, I didn't get any problems at all. Not much lag at it but until i signed in GC It lagged abit but didn't cause problems much. Sorry about your problems on the games, maybe its just a bug that 10/100000 people get?

Fruit Ninja 1.7.1 is the first version of fruit ninja ever to be unstable for me. It will exit on my iPhone 4 sometimes when I have freeze and frenzy together, perhaps when I get a very high number of fruit in a single combo.

Previous versions, which I've played for 100s of hours, were all rock stable.

I've seen occasional app store reviews for this version also noting that it can now crash sometimes, so it's not just me.

My high score is 1251 and I didn't think I'd have to worry about him beating it but he pulled off 1220 and apparently he could have done quite a lot better than that becuase he had 1100 with 10 seconds to go but missed a couple of combos...If he happens to better my score I'm going to go nuts trying to get the top spot back.

If there are any more updates planned for this wonderful little game can I suggest a "Random Blade" in the Dojo? Once unlocked, if you select it, you'll have a random blade from all of your unlocked blades on each new game.

Just curious - any luck wrt the stutters issue? I'm struggling to get the top score in my friends list back and man its frustrating to play my favorite iphone game now. Even at the best of times I'm experiencing jitters that cuase me to miss combos and I actually have to shut the game down, kill it in the task bar and restart it every 6 or 7 rounds becuase it starts to stutter so bad its unplayable... :( (and I can't get past the feeling that it has something to do with the new ios5 notification pull-down becuase it often seems like things start to get flakey when I accidently activate the notification tab)

I'm not necessarily certain its not a problem with my phone of course but other games seem to play fine.

Ah yes, the multitasking gestures. With 4 or 5 finger swipes and pinches, you can change apps etc, rather than double tapping the home button. To disable them for playing fruit ninja, go to the settings app, general, then slide the multitasking button to off.

I swear the multiplayer games are against me. My opponent always seems to get a lot more fruit in a row than I ever do. It's only through combos and being quick off the Mark to get 3-pointers that I can win. Even after games end, the opponents score seems to still be going up, despite no fruit on screen!

I'm trying to get my last achievement in Fruit Ninja HD-which is "Lovely Bunch". You need to slice 6 coconuts in Zen Mode.

The problem is I NEVER see them-I play the game for like an hour on my commute each day doing Zen Mode over and over and I never see the coconuts! Is there anything I can do to increase the likelihood of this happening or is it completely random?? It's driving me crazy!

theres no reason at all to spend any money on the iap. I mean its there if anyone wants to make a donation to HB, but the game is certainly completely playable without buying any starfruit at all. I've played quite a bit since the update and the fact is that the power-up fruits don't actually do much to improve scores (at least in arcade mode which is all I ever play). You still need to get a really good string of bananas and take full advantage of them to get a great score. I can see the time bonus peaches making a big difference if you get to the end of a good round and get lucky with a double point banana and a freeze after getting a few extra seconds but that hasn't happened for me yet.

(still trying to beat my bro's score of 1309 in arcade :mad: )

Been loving the latest update! Was able to double my previous high score on classic- from 390 to 783 - on the time I didn't even use the powerups (was building up to it when using strawberry+bomb, but i ran out of strawberry and only used the bomb deflect less than a second before I died).

Awesome update and even more fun for Fruit Ninja. I love how the powerups don't require a ton of grinding (particularly love hitting packs of them in-game) but cost enough so I'm not constantly using them every game. Finally got myself back to this game after too long of a hiatus. By far my favorite of the insanely well known iphone games and one of my favorites in general as well.

After playing for a bit more I've also realized the IAP is more than fair, since every so often a Starfruit appears in the game that can be worth 300 or so Starfruit. (3 uses of a powerup is worth 300 as well)

I like the new twist in terms of the power ups and I'm looking forward to more being introduced... but I do find it has unbalanced it all slightly, you end up playing just to save up starfruit, then you have your real goes once you've got your power ups bought and enabled for 10 games... makes the saving up section become a bit of a chore.

On Arcade you always have a chance of that wonder go, where it hits you with your frenzies and that at the right times, and you keep it going. But Zen mode scores are now pretty much unachievable without the peaches and berries enabled.

I feel the Jetpack Joyride model works better, where once you bought your gadget it was there for good, to use as and when you like...

I guess your love of the update depends on why and how you play the game. I've never been a high score chaser, so this update was very disappointing to me and left me no reason to pick up and play the game again. I've gotten all the achievements and unlocked all the blades and background so, like a few others here, I was disappointed to see this was all about the IAP and high score chasing. After 2 years on the app store, I expected more and got less.

Oh well, I got my money's worth out of the game, and will still pick up and play it when I'm looking to kill a bit of time, but otherwise this update does nothing to encourage a player like me to get back to playing again.

If you like the endless high score chasing, then I can see and agree that this update does a lot for a player like you. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just pointing out the difference in playing styles, and why this update didn't please everyone. I'm more disappointed they couldn't throw the non-high-score chasers like me a bone: maybe a new way to play (like they did for Puss in Boots) or a single new blade or a single new background...

This is an absolutely classic arcade-style game that is all about chasing the high scores. The leaderboards are a bit borked, but the real fun is in competing with friends and family.

Yup! It took a while, but we finally were able to update Fruit Ninja with some new blades and backgrounds! It's actually been quite a while -- the last were back in December 2011 with the Firecracker Blade and Chinese Calendar background. About time we added some new ones.

What you'll find are three new blades:

Rainbow Blade - Now you can swipe fruit with the power of rainbows! Now you can pretend to be your favorite mechanized horse, space cat or flying pony! Use two fingers to see double!

Water Blade - Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless – like water.

King Dragon Blade – Harness the mighty power of the dragon and bring fiery destruction to all fruit in your path!

Fruit Ninja's been worked on for so long that the tech has constantly been upgraded. If you look back at the original Disco Blade or Ice Blade, they look pretty tame now. The Rainbow Blade looks bright and awesome, the Water Blade's got tons of particles going on, and the King Dragon Blade is pretty crazy -- it moved around in an S-Like pattern. Took some reworking of the code to get that working well!

The update also includes two new backgrounds: one of the new characters Gutsu and Truffles, and the King Dragon background. Huzzah! A background that isn't brown!

The King Dragon Blade and Background came from a kid we saw at one of the Fruit Ninja anniversary events we did in Australia. A 6 Year-old called "King Dragon Lee", who had to stand on some sandbags to reach the iPads, came third at one of the events. He was such a cool dude (with such a cool name) that we made these in his honor. A Dragon Blade was pretty sweet idea anyhow!

Our artists did a bang up job on this update, it was fun trying to figure out the new missions too.

However, I noticed that on startup, it asked me for push notifications and for location services. Why would this game need those functions? There was also a bit of slowdown, but I think that was from running Wild Blood previously.

I've only played a few rounds since the update but I had an ad pop up once after a game. It really caught me off guard actually becuase FN is the game I've played the most on ios over the past few years (I'd bet hundreds of hours) so when the ad popped up it took me a few seconds to realize what it was.

Anyone else having issues on iPad 4 with horrible lag and frame rates? Arcade mode is very choppy when getting combos and bonuses. It was fine before the update. This update brought what looks like full retina graphics. But still should not lag like this. The ipad 4 is plenty powerful.

I've noticed a few of you talking about ads in the paid version of the game and that should no longer be the case.

Those ads were displayed incorrectly due to an error with our servers. We believe it has now been fixed.

Please let me know if the ads continue to appear as this should not be happening at all.

Yeah, I haven't seen an ad since the first one appeared so thanks for that. Not that it was the end of the world or anything, but I just hated to see my favorite ios game going that route.

BTW, is there nothing at all that can be done about the leaderboards? They are just ruined by all the hacked scores...

I liked this a lot, but after the update it's slow as hell :/
It also crashes a lot now.
A fix would be nice.

Note to HB...I'm pretty sure the starfruit calculator between rounds is borked. I've suspected it for a while but hadn't really paid enough attention to be sure but just now I was playing and I finished a round and had over 19,000 starfruit. Then after the next round in which I got another 80 or so starfruits the calculator said I had 19,003. Then the round after that I got another 80 or so and it told me I had 18,900 and something. Its not adding the totals up properly...I think it might correct itself occasionally though as it sometimes seems to jump back up to a more correct number.

Also, I see the ad between rounds is back. I believe its for Fn: Puss in Boots no? If so can I get it to stop somehow? I already own Puss in boots and don't need to see ads for it...

Finally, isn't there some way to clean up the Gamecenter leaderboards?? My highscore in arcade is 1506 now and that puts me somewhere around 200,000 on the board...behind all the thousands and thousands of people with scores above a billion. :rolleyes: Even just a way for me to skip to a specific score so I could see where I am in comparison to scores that are somewhat believable...

Hi there. Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately, we don't have any new levels planned for Age of Zombies. Have you played the Anniversary edition? It includes extra levels as well as a bonus story chapter set in the Wild West. Worth a go if you haven't played it already!

1) I've not heard of the Starfruit problem but we'll definitely check it out. In the meantime, try closing the app and then cycle the power on your device. That might do the trick.

Hi Peanuts,
I've got a few gripes and questions about the game:
1. Why is the game getting slower and slower for the iPad 1? This game is nearly unplayable on this idevice, can you not bring it back to more playable standard?

2. You've probably heard this one before but, Ads....really?!?

3. The Arcade scores on Gamecenter: How is it REALLY possible for anyone to achieve a score of higher than 2000? Yet on the leaderboard you have players who score in the millions and billions -.-

4. If you have a Frenzy or Freeze and you hit a bomb sometimes the "Frenzy" or "Freeze" icon will stay there. Needs fixing as you may already know.

Just a little follow-up on the starfruit counter issue...rebooting the phone doesn't resolve it. Just now played four rounds where the counter kept ressetting to about 34,950 and counting up to 35,030 or so after each round.

Also, I'm still seeing those ads at least three or four times a day. I mean its not the end of the world or anything, but if its only supposed to be once a day its definitely not working right.

Hi all,

We have seen a few more reports of frequent ads in the paid version of Fruit Ninja and wanted to put the call out for more information so we can get to the bottom of this. Just to confirm, you should only ever see an ad for one of the other Halfbrick titles, and it should never be seen more than once in a 24 hour period per device. At the moment that ad would be for Monster Dash, so if you are seeing this more than once in a 24 hour period we would love to hear from you. We're also offering 150,000 Starfruit to the first person who can send us a video which shows the ad appearing more frequently.

We have, of course, tested for this behaviour ourselves and also had our ad-serving partner check on their end, but unfortunately we can’t find anything to indicate that these ads are showing more than expected.

The easiest way to get us some footage would be to simply record with another phone or any other video recording device you may have, then PM me and we can work out how to transfer the file via YouSendit or a similar product.

Hmmm, well generally speaking I'd say I see the ad at least 3 times daily. But it usually is spaced out over a fair bit of time. I might play a few rounds in the morning and see it once, then see it in the afternoon and then again in the evening, so I'm not sure how I'd go about getting any sort of video. I don't need the starfruit though anyway, lol. :)

I am still seeing the funny starfruit counter behavior too though...

edit: lol, I just now fired FN up and played a single round and the ad appeared. It also appeared when I was playing at work about 3 hours ago. It's not by any chance using IP addresses to determine whether the ad is shown is it - so that you can see the ad once for each different IP addy you might be logged into throughout the day?
