Hello People.
I'm getting stressed again, I am trying to get a gba game to work through my ipod (emulate). I've got gpSphone and the bios and my rom (pokemon emerald, which I grew up on till my advance went self aware), the problem is that when I try and run it I get a white screen, I googled and I guess it was because I was haven't set the permissions to 777, this wasn't a problem last time I set this up but now, with blackra1n, winscp isn't connecting to my ipod, so instead i've been using a program called iphone folders, and I have no idea on how to set the permission how I need them without winscp.
Any ideas? it's all gone over my head now.
cheers

I haven't had this experience but I'll try to help.
I've had a similar problem with Super Monkey Ball Jr. But instead of a white screen it's a bunch of text in the corner.
Also, the Mame emulator had a problem with not using the most recent bios, so it couldn't run the newer games.
So my guess is that the mame problem is also the gba problem.

Also, ifile is better :P

Ifile is good for looking inside your folders from inside your iPod. (with copy, cut etc) idk about permissions, I've never tried to edit that.
Winscp is a program to connect your iPods files to your comp so it can't be better or worse, but it's still useful to use.

yea iFile does everything, it lets you change the permissions but not by typing in numbers. you have to check what permissions you want it to have so whenever i have to set something to 0777 or whatever i just google the number and iphone next to it so like "0777 iphone permissions" to see what the checkboxes are

Try a different SSH client. Blackra1n shouldn't interfere with wifi though, are you sure that's the cause?

Nah blackra1n doesn't do anything to wifi, it's just missing afc2add, which lets you use programs like cyder, idk why winscp isn't working though...
also just got ifile and am trying to work out permissions now, anyone experienced enough to tell me what to do?

You shouldn't need afc2add to use SSH. Not sure where that idea come from.

What's your iPod's IP address? Are you sure the SSH process is enabled? It used to be by default but I heard they changed that because people were complaining about battery drain.

Yeah I think maybe the only reason i can't ssh is because i don't know my ip address, (no wifi). I've pretty much worked out ifile but things still aren't working, i'm going to download a new bios

No wifi? Ah, that explains it.

I believe there's a way to SSH by connecting your phone via cable, but that's not a particularly reliable or great long-term solution.

Actually, it's more than likely your computer does support wifi but you just don't know it as you're not using a router. Nearly all network cards these days do, and support to creation of a ad-hoc network in the absence or a router or access point. Exactly how you enable it depends on what OS you're running, but it's usually even easier than setting up an ethernet network.

I'd suggest looking into it. It'll also open up a load of other possibilities, like streaming and letting your iphone connect through your home Internet instead of 3G/EDGE.

Yeah I have tried setting up an ad hoc network in the past but that was full of problems, not least of which was trying to squeeze dial up internet into wireless land. I have been using the usb ssh, just not sure why it wont work

Go buy iFile on Cydia, it's pretty much the same thing. Just read the instructions on Youtube/Google and it'll tell you what to do
