Hi everyone,
We are looking for a few good people to help us testing our new incoming TD game. We can’t give away too much right now but here is a screenshot of the game.

http://www.gimka.com/td/scr.png

If you’re interested, please PM or send me an email to test at gimka dot com.

We are only looking for TD enthusiasts and we can only accept a few. To prove that you are one, please send me one or two links of your posts for TouchArcade where you have discussed TD related topic (please limit to 2 links only).

Those who contributes will have their names listed in the game credit! ;)

Edit: Thanks for your interest. All positions are filled and we are not looking for more testers.

Hey I sent a PM. I love playing TD's as Fieldrunners is probably my most played game, and there's tons of flash versions I enjoy too. This game looks interesting so I hope I make it!

Wow that game looks fantastic.

I would love to test it, however I do not meet the criteria to be one.
I am a TD enthusiast, playing Creep's, Fieldrunners, Zombie Attack, and more.
However, I haven't made any post talking about TD games, well besides the post such as "Zombie attack is the best so far" and stuff like that.

If you have any open slots for testers, I would like to be in :D

Look like I wont be able to be a beta tester for this game, I don't discuss much :(. But woah, this game really looks good. Will keep a look out for this game. ;)

Does it has to be TouchArcade post?

The only app I'm testing right now is Aurora Feint: The Arena's new update so I have more free time to contribute where I can =)

The story is actually a bit more complex than that.

Every unit has a background story and you actually have to fight for it to sway them to joining your side.

Later, however, we decided to cut back on the story to keep thing much simpler and casual; as players probably won’t care much about the story if at all.

So, just wondering if that was actually a wise decision. How important is actually story for a TD game? Are you expecting to read long dialogs, one or two cut scenes in between mission, or none at all?

Not sure how important a story is in comparison to many levels/boards, including different baddies and upgradeable towers. Those are really the most important aspects in a TD game.
Don't get me wrong, a story never hurts, but I wouldn't say it's crucial.
You can have a one or 2 liner before each level to progress the "story" but in my opinion, each separate board/level is it's own story.

Man if you include a story I'm sold, I will buy without any hesitation whatsoever! there already are so many casual TD games.

I'd pay 5 bucks if the story was either about Aztecs/Mayan people or pirates!!!!

I think it'd be awesome if there was a dialog between the two groups and you could choose what to say for your own group if you say "arghh you darn pirates" they would attack you and you could rank up points, but if you said "let's forget that you slept with me beutiful daughter" they would leave you alone, you wouldn't get points though

At the start you'd see how strong the others are and that would help you decision of fighting or letting Aztecs sleep with ur daughter

Based on that 1 screenshot, I'll be all over this game, story or no story. It's one of the most interesting looking TD games I think I've ever seen.

As for you Pablo ;)
I hear you, and may even agree with you!
Maybe because it's something that's never been done (that I know of) in a TD game, I'm having a hard time imagining how it would be implemented, but I think in theory, it's freakin' intriguing! :)

Ok this is how I'm imagining it, you start out selecting a couple of guys to accompany you in your trip, you arrive at a strange island, there are many different tribes in the island, One tribe finds you and asks you want you want, why have you come to the island, [you select an answer depending on how many people you see have come from the tribe], if you select not to fight, other people of the tribe who are angry at your arrival will come (with more or less people), there might be one answer that might save you from fighting with them but the most probable thing is that your interpreter doesn't know the language right and insults the chief of the tribe instead, then you prepare for battle positioning your guys in stategic locations, if you win you convert some of the people and they join you, if you lose the upgrades to your people will be lost (this is good for the first couple of battles, so that if you lose you can start again without having trouble). You advance more and more inland find bigger more powerfull tribes, you form alliances with other tribes which give you new weapons and soldiers......

I could go on if anyone is interested

I'd pay 10 bucks seriously, and I'm a cheap person:eek:

This could also go the other way around, just that more and more people come to your island you fight agaist them and other enemy tribes

Why not have both? Include both a standard mode and a story mode so that those who just want TD can play the normal mode, and those who want a bit of adventure and added challenge can go for the story mode.

doing a story is a bit of a gamble on one hand it could set it apart from all the other TDs out there like fieldrunners and 7 cities but it could make some people not like it

you could do two modes a story and casual mode that way everyone is happy me personally i LOVE the idea of having a story would make it less repetative which most TDs suffor from as long as you have a good selection of towers(units) with a good thew upgrades each i will definatley get this game without hesitation :D

That's not a bad idea... I see it kinda like Blackbeards assault, most match 3 games don't have much if any side story. Yet they put in a great little side story, and they give you the option to turn it on or off. That's all I would really want...

Thanks for the idea. It sounds very intriguing. I was thinking about linear story progression but you are more advance and actually thinking about having interactive story.

The idea is great. But, adding that kind of interactivity can easily double the dev time. It’s not just coding; we have to consider the design aspect of it in entirely. How one answer will affect the rest of the game balance and how many branching that player actually can create. We’ll have to test all of the possibilities. It’s not impossible and I can actually see how it will work. But it’s a luxury that we can’t afford right now.

Also, based on the responses so far, it doesn’t seem many will appreciate a deep story in a TD game. But, we can definitely do a simple side story that is optional to follow.

If we do have that kind of luxury, there is a feature that we really want to implement. This one is something that everyone can appreciate and something that no TD has done before. I can guarantee you that the existing TDs on the App Store will not be able to do this easily as it will require major architectural changes. This is something that has to be planned very early when the project started and we are very proud that we have done our homework for this.

Pablo, we haven’t finalized the pricing yet. As developer, we definitely want to get our development cost back and at least some profit to make it worthwhile our time. But, I understand that price is a sensitive issue and how the AppStore works is really hard to comprehend.

No Hero, we are preparing the build. This will take some time. Please bear with me. You can expect it sometime next week. Please be assured that I will read all the emails coming to my inbox but I might not be able to reply to all of them. I apologize for this. But, we are just a small team working hard here.

For those who are still sending me PMs for beta testing, please understand that we are very grateful. The responses so far have been overwhelming and we really appreciate the support that you have given us. This forum is great that many people are willing to help a small developer like us. But, unfortunately, we already have more that we can handle right now. If we later need more help, we’ll definitely contact you again.

I believe a good linear story will be the next major evolution for TD games. Eventually there will be so many TD games released that the market will not support it. You are already seeing comments now like, "Not another TD game."

A quality linear story in a TD game will be very well received and considered a major step forward. Something similar in style to the Advance Wars series on the Game Boy Advance and DS.

Of course I completely understand a small developer will not be able to make such a commitment at first. It may come from a larger developer at first or from a small developer who has great success with their first TD game and makes enough money to invest in a, "larger vision" TD game.

It could come from a small developer who builds their game in such a way that a linear story could be created and added in later through updates if the sales support it.

Gimka, if you have a new thread title in mind, you can mod alert the main post and request a new title for the thread. It would stop the emails flooding in for requests. :)

heres my guess on how the game works. Ok so you build those houses right, and then people come out of them. EX. You build the house with the target and archers come out. Then they stand there and attack as in a normal td (maybe they fight back, who knows) Ok, but my overall point is that i dont see an exit point there, for example in creeps there is the little dude in the bed. I dont see one here, so maybe this isnt the whole map. Maybe it is zoomed in a lot on one section, and maybe there are plenty more guys waiting to attack the skeletons right up that ridge. Maybe im just dreaming, but i hope im right because that would make for one kick ass TD game.

i know, but it seems pretty basic for there to not be some sort of object there marking it (ex. the bed in creeps) so its possible that it isnt.

Rocketman is correct. :) It's just a section of the map.

I have sent the game to all testers. If you are accepted but you didn't get my email, you probably haven't send your device ID or your email address. If that's the case, please contact me by PM.

It's definitely progressing by leaps and bounds. Can't say much other than that, but I can say it's definitely going to be worth checking out when it's released. It's still very early in development though.

Is it still very early in development? Or has it made it to early in development? Or darst I say it late in development?

The beta keeps getting better and better. However nothing is going to be rushed. You guys won't be disappointed though.

LOL you are a bit late and the title of the thread says no longer accepting applicants. Wishful thinking I guess.

OMG I would do anything right now to beta test. I LOVE TDS! So far out of FieldRunners, the Creeps, GeoDefense, Dungeon Defense, and Tap Defense, Geo Defense wins. This looks so cool. I forgot the name but it was on the home page of this site about a month ago....

I've been lucky enough to try out the beta and let me tell you it's shaping up to be AMAZING. I love TD games and this one has a fresh take on the genre and a great look... and even in it's early stages it is just plain FUN. I can't wait for the completed game!

It's called Defender Chronicles. I'm testing it and it's turning out great!
