Hey guys, I just got a 32 gig 3rd gen iPod Touch and I wanted to know what's the best program to jailbreak with. I was using blackra1n for my 2nd gen but I want to know if there's anything better. Thanks guys, I appreciate any help I can get (N64 emulator here I come!!!).

I think Spirit Jailbreak is. If I'm right, it's not tethered and works fine with the iPod Touch 3g.

You still have to be tethered with blackra1n/redsnow?

On the 2G you have to at least, and I'm sure what goes for the 2G goes for the 3G as well. So yeah, Spirit is probably your best bet. I might use that instead if I upgrade to 3.1.3.

Alright, since I'm stuck automatically with 3.1.3 I guess I'll go with Spirit, thanks.

No prob. That's most likely your best bet, unless some new jailbreak came out I havn't heard of yet.

blackra1n is the best, if they have it for your device. I used it on my 2nd gen and it worked great.

Spirit worked on my 3.1.3 iPod 3GS. Very fast!

Edit: Just don't update iTunes to 9.2

Quick question, if I wanted to update to OS 4 then can the spirit jailbreak my iPod untethered?

soooo, did you use spirit to jailbreak yet? ive been using that one for a while now and i really like it. its just as easy/fast as blackrain, but it feels way more stable to me.

blackrain JB made my iphone all slow and stupid, and i had to restore it a FEW times (wasnt due to overdoing jailbreak apps). however since i switched to spirit my phone feels way more stable and responsive. i did my new 3gs and 4 of my co-workers in one day last week. let me know what you think!:)

Yep, it was actually a lot easier because when I used blackra1n (same happened when I jailbroke my friend's iPod) it didn't actually work the first time and I had to redo it. But this worked like a charm and I'm currently enjoying Smash Bros in all it's handheld 64-bit glory. It's a shame there's no landscape/save states yet even though in Zod's beta video he clearly showed a functioning landscape mode. Whatever, if I want to rant about this I'll make another thread:p.

Bottom line: It worked.
