Hey, that looks pretty slick actually. I've played a few games like it, or that had something like it as a sequence within the larger game. This one looks like it might be fun.

I have to agree, it was a bit of a strain on the eyes. However, it does look really cool. I'm curious, how is your score determined?

This looks really cool. I really like the creativity of the wall types, and how they flow together naturally. Will this feature a predetermined order for the walls, or will there be an element of randomness? Perhaps a combination?

Each track in the iTunnel 3D is an XML based document. While the player flying along the track's tunnel the OpenGL graphics engine renders the specified walls and gates (depending on XML content). Walls are always predetermined objects in the iTunnel 3D's world but the gates should have random behaviors.

Does this mean that at some point (not necessarily in the first release) end users will be able to create their own tunnels? I feel a new Cube Runner coming on :)

What about the price?

Ok, trying to answer the questions.

We want to make many single tracks.
The score comes from the time you reached at the end. There will be limitations to the maximum time.
We are planing to make a bigger game with campaigns, in which you have to complete tracks to go further levels.
There will be objects on the track. You can collect them to modify the behavior.
First we will publish a Lite version with some tracks.
After we publish the Pro and Kids version, with a track editor application.
I think it will run on iPhone, but it has a web based editor too.
The price is not public yet, sorry, but don't worry.
You control the falling with tilt and it hash touch functions too.

This sounds great. Btw, is that the music track that will be in the game? It sounds similar to the one used in another game called Claustrophobia.

Hi. I listened the music you mentioned. Oh yes! I'm sure they've been using Apple loops creating the game music. It's really good!
Our music was written with the help of Apple loops too. This very common synth pad from the 80's at the beginning is the same. But the rest is very different.
Our future plans about that is to work with external instruments. First of all we have to buy an external sound card to make high quality music. This is on it's way! Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy it, because it fits to the mood of the game as a whole.
We'll back soon!

The music is definitely GarageBand loops! I have used many of those in my various projects! :D

Holy crap that's a brilliant concept! Graphics are a little muddy, and need to be better/ cleaner for the gaps to be seen quicker. Otherwise I think I'm seeing another future appstore hit (especially with the name iTunnel 3D).

I rememeber it was my first game on the 386 years ago.
These AppStore games bring me back to Amiga-Pc games of late '80s and early '90s (and that's good!)

Will there be path choices going on with the levels? A kind of Outrun structure?
Take care of the game!

Wow, totally trippy visuals there! ..Good choice of textures too. It can be hard sometimes to see which part is the hole and which part is the wall. Love the concept. Look forward to seeing it.

(That reminds me so much of the mini-game in Slam Tilt pinball ..the space table ..the game that takes place in the LCD panel.)

What you need to know before reading this review:
1. I tested a beta version with only 1 level, no content in the instructions, track manager and scores.
2. The screenshots I took and that are in this review have been taken in the default fps settings.
3. I tested this game on my iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1 16 G.

http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=309http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=311

iTunnel 3D, a game that will come in the appstore soon. Yes, it's like the internet game, only better playable by the accelerometer on your iPod Touch/iPhone.

The beta I tested had 1 level, that means 1 game mode: get the fastest time. Fun, but survival would be a good add too: hit the gate and game over. Also, a game mode which has one level, but when you are at the start again, you play it 25% faster, and so on, would be cool! And, difficulty levels are needed, but this beta had only one level so I'm sure they would do it on the full version!

The graphics of the game are very nice. In the 'Home screen > settings > iTunnel 3D' (will probably be in game options when the hits the appstore) you can change various settings like enable/disable sounds/music, overlay hue (nice add!), and rendering (battery will go longer / better frames per second)
- Overlay hue: the color of the letters/numbers/signs of the screen. Nice add.
- Rendering: max fps is somehow looking laggy; default setting is good, very nice. (26 fps). Possible options: 20, 24, 26, 28 32, max fps.

When you start the game you'll enter the menu, which shows a bit what we can expect. The menu has 2 portrait and 2 landscape options (see screens), so that means every way! They've thought about the problem that you are playing and you will go from portrait to landscape: when you play the direction is locked.

http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=306http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=307
http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=308http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=305

What's a really nice add is that on the background of the menu a slideshow of gates is applied. Really nice touch. The only thing what would be nice is that the green color changes to other colors too!

When I played the game (on school), everybody around me was watching and wanted a play! Almost everyone knew the game from internet and the liked the graphics a lot!

What would be a nice add are bones objects, but that is already on the 'to do' list! After bumping on a gate, it is sometimes too difficult to get on again. But that's in the internet game a problem too!

In the future there will be a level editor! That's really, really fantastic, isn't it.

About the graphics, well, see yourself:

http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=310http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=314
http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=312http://forums.toucharcade.com/picture.php?albumid=18&pictureid=304

I think they are great. You're going pretty fast so you may think 'the tunnel isn't really sharp:confused:', but it is looking good. And for the objects, ...! Imagine this was just a screenshot, while there isn't a pause button yet (missing?)...

About the gameplay. .. Well, I guess you know. I played until I had no crashes, what is pretty difficult. That's why a survival mode would be cool.

The game calibrates automatic, but I don't know when:confused:. Pretty confusing.

The music of the game is a bit too unserious in my opinion, but the sounds are great. If you pass a gate you'll hear a wind sound and if you bump one you hear a .. bump sound.

In this one level there were 92 (?) gates, some were moving and some were difficult enough standing still. There are so much gates possible.. If you see what the cloubble crew has made.. [from their site (http://blog.cloubble.com)]
http://blog.cloubble.com/image.axd?picture=2009%2f2%2fgtscld.png

Last but not least: letters and numbers on the screen:
Left: level progress (bar) and points
Right: Time;)

Also, check out the youtube video and if you have anymore questions, just ask:D!

Well, I hate to say "what he said", but "what TheOnePb said". That review was a pretty good summary of the preview version as it stands right now. I will say that I am impressed with the replay factor, even though there is only one level so far. I thought for sure it would get boring after the first round or two, but at the moment it's keeping me entertained. I definitely can't wait to see what the game is going to be like once there are objects to collect and such. The one thing that did puzzle me a bit was that I got the same score every time for completing the tunnel, no matter how many crashes I had. I'm not sure what is used to determine score, but it seems like the more I crash, the lower my score should be.

Also, for those concerned that the video was straining on the eyes and possibly causing headaches, I never felt that sensation with the game (and I'll admit that the video did bother me a bit).

I still haven't had the chance to try version D yet, but the last pre-release I had still only had one track in it, so I'd say it's a little ways away from release yet. Hey when you guys start online integration, what do you think about adding Cloudcell support to your game so that people can upload replays to youtube? It's proving to be a great incentive to customers (Fast and Furious).
Here's some replays of Fast and Furious online done by Cloudcell:

Attenion! Attention! The "iTunnel 3D (http://games.cloubble.com/itunnel3d/index.htm)" game that you can see on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU_AtJBRyrg) is not the same game, that you can find in the AppStore under a very similar name and concept - recommended to read our blog "Loving the CopyCat (http://blog.cloubble.com/post/2009/04/22/Loving-the-CopyCat.aspx)". Cloubble Adventure Team would like to express that our application idea "iTunnel 3D" has been picked by a CopyCat and we are sorry if he has misled anybody of you who like our concept by buying his game from the AppStore.
FYI: We are going to release "iTunnel 3D" in the next week.

I've done some beta testing on this game, and in the last build I received (about a month ago), there were 3 levels and you received a score after completing each level. I'm pretty sure they are planning on putting in items at some point, but I think right now they are feeling some pressure because of the unexpected release of the cheap copycat Tunnel 3D. From what I've seen so far, though, i can assure you that the developer is determined to make this the best application they can. It will be pretty awesome when it comes out, and definitely worth the wait.

Well, the copy cat surely doesn't recognize the concept of KARMA. I for one, won't purchase any copycat games or purchase games from companies that employ dirty tactics.

I know in this world its about making your buck any way possible, but people are totally disrespecting others by copying intellectual properties and trying to turn a fast buck on them.

On the website of the developer I saw that they are planning to release 4 versions: Lite, Classic, Pro and Kids. 3 of them will be paid. I think many people (including me) won't buy a game that has 3 paid versions. Why shouldn't you make 1 version that can do all?

yeah I agree, thats just as bad as those points games that come out, where you can pay upwards of 50$ for a bunch of virtual stuff.

Make 1 version, with 4 difficulty modes. Or you'll be shooting yourself in the foot, 4 times.

Downloaded it .. played it .. wow wow wow wow wow. This freaking rocks!

At first I thought it was starting a little slow .. then I started hitting things. :D I love the way some of those gaps snap shut on you. Mean and fun all at the same time. And the themes .. the shapes and textures as a theme for each level. Very very nice. Well done. This is just as much fun as I thought it would be ..possibly more. ETA on the full version so I can give money? I want. :)

Though this particular game mode was a lot of fun, have you ever thought of a "relentless" game mode where you never slow down? Maybe you're 'shielded', so you blaze through any obstacle, but lose a shield, maybe get some visual interference, and a good bit more pushed and spun? Possibly you should be able to hit the very next gate without loss of shield, but the disorientation should continue. ..I imagine. :D Well, that's just my thought. So much care has gone into those levels, it would be fun to be able to go through them in other ways.

Okay, gotta try again. Dammit, I should be sleeping!

I really like this, but it's not going to replace Tunnel Vision 3D (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=313613407&mt=8) for me unless Landscape mode (home button on right) is added. Touch control would be nice as well, but this game does a pretty good job with accelerometer controls.

The variety of obstacles is fantastic, the music is good, some of the texturing is so-so - I guess some of the obstacles with just a texture plastered on them detract from the realism for me. I just like the looks of things more like the Rock'n'Slide! track.

One nit pick - the ticking noise when you pass gears just seems cheesy and out of place. I know it's trying to be cute with the clocks, but if they really were that size, the tick sound would be a lot slower/deeper (and if you really want to nit pick: echo sounding from the tunnel and Doppler effect as you pass clocks - gears themselves wouldn't make this noise...)

Er, for all the criticism - I do like this game, I'd say it's greatest strength against others I've played is its variety in levels and obstacles. I gave it 4 stars and would recommend it for a buck.

I have a suggestion!

The option to have an aiming reticle or just a dot right in the middle of the screen. It may seem pointless, but I think it would make it a bit easier to fit through some of the holes and whatnot if you could actually aim for riiiight in the middle of the space you're going through.

I can't tell you how many times I thought I was coming up on hole perfectly, but it turned out I was off to the side a little and couldn't tell, and bounced off.

Maybe?

Other than that, this is a really freakin' addictive game. Well done!

Nate

PS - When will the full version be out? How will it differ?

sweetdiss, you are right!

We'll implement this (iTunnel 3D Lite (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=320227381&mt=8) update coming soon)! It will be an "any time switch off/switch on" function placed at the top-left corner (near by the speedometer). Thanks!

FYI: Many people have the same problem. The main question "How about my dimensions?", is not answered unless you crashing a lot while trying the game in the first 15 minutes.
