Obliteration HD is available now in the App Store right now for only $1.99!
Back Story:
It’s been 10 years since Zombies first appeared, laying waste to everything. Those lucky enough to be away from the main continents were able to regroup in Greenland and survive.
The time has come to rebuild. Your job is to demolish all areas with a heavy zombie population. Using your state of the art airplane, and a bunch of bombs, you must obliterate EVERYTHING! Travel around North America and make way for progress. That is your mission. DO NOT FAIL!!

Hi Everyone,
I've got some good news on the update. I did some stress testing today. When making the game and obviously not having an iPad to test with, I kept the number of moving actors on screen to what I know worked on an iPhone 3Gs, around 25 tops. I did some tests tonight on the iPad, and I had over 50 moving actors with very little hit on the FPS. I think 45-50 is probably the sweet spot.
So I've got back to my original artwork and started slicing up the buildings into smaller pieces so they explode apart more naturally. I've also started drawing some international landmarks you can blow up too. It's all in the name of killing zombies so it's ok :)

I've written about it at length here: http://howihatethenight.com/2010/04/11/obliteration-hd-in-review/
But, the quick version:
1. New distressed building art
2. New building cut points
3. New fire / smoke / water effects
4. More buildings per level
5. Minor bug fixes
The biggest change is the purpose of the game. Previously all you had to do was blow stuff up, but you got no indication you did a good job outside of your score, but it didn’t matter what you did in each level. Now it does. There is now a Red Zone line under which you must bring every building. If you look at the screenshot below, you can see the new building artwork, as well as the Red Zone indicator and the building height indicator. You have to get that line under the red zone line in order to pass each level:

Hey there - I snagged a promo code last week and was playing it for awhile last night and I thought I'd share some thoughts (I am assuming I was playing v1.2 but I'm not positive).
1) Does the calculation at the end of the level end too quick? There wasn't a time when it would have changed whether I passed or not but I know there were times when it said I failed and there were still building pieces moving. I would have been mad if a piece would have slipped or something a second after I was told I failed that would have changed the outcome. Just sayin - maybe the check should be done after pieces stop moving (which can take a few seconds).
2) Got a little boring after a while. I played probably ~12 levels and eventually it all kind of seemed the same. You start by dropping a bomb in the middle and keep working to blow things off the screen.
3) The levels w/ the islands were WAY easy...there was 1 or 2 where I only needed like 2 bombs to clear all pieces into the water. This is fine if these are the first levels but these shouldn't be levels that show up 6 or 7 stages in.
4) Maybe you can find a way to add a way for the bomb to kind of get carried with the wind when it is dropped? Its very easy right now to know exactly where the bomb will fall when its dropped. If you can figure out the physics and stuff, add a random variable for wind for each stage that the user has to take into account when dropping the bomb. That would add a whole new level of gameplay.
Like I said I didn't complete the game so maybe some of these things are addressed as I get through it but just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Still a fun game to waste time and the graphics are kind of cool but they get a little boring after seeing the same build structures over and over. Maybe I just need to play it more to see new stages/buildings, I don't know. :)
Keep up the good work.

Those are some great ideas. I really like the physics affecting the bomb. I'll have to look into that.
For your first point, the calculation could change, but it works both way, if you fail a level, but keep waiting and a piece falls below the line, it will change to succeed.
The Island levels are too easy, in the next version you only get 2 bombs per island.

I'm working on a 'wind' system for version 1.3, so depending on how strong it is, it will affect how straight the bomb falls.
As you can see in the screenshot above, there will also be little zombies on the ground you can explode for fun, as well as a whole bunch of new buildings to explode.

Obliteration HD Lite has been out for about a month or so, and i have a single written review. I guess that is good because people like the game and don't delete it, but i was hoping to get some more. If you have an iPad, would you mind giving it a download and review it?
Thanks

Actually a lot of people just delete the game, give it a star rating and don't bother with a written review.
I remember trying this game and I think I gave it two or three stars.
I really liked the look of the game but hated the way the plane kind of stops when the bomb drops. Also, I didn't like that the bomb dropped straight down and always hit the ground instead of the buildings.
If those things were fixed it would be a pretty good game.

THanks for the comments. Some of that has already been fixed the update I'm working on. Bombs are affected by wind, everything is smoother and stuff. I though about having the bombs hit the buildings, but it didn't work well, sometimez it made hard levels wicked hard because you could never blow things up and away, everything kinda went down.

Obliteration HD 1.3 is out!
Version 1.3 brings a ton of enhancements, bug fixes and some performance improvements, making the game even better. Some of the more significant improvements are:
Bug Fix: Dropping your last bomb in water would prevent the game from progressing
Bug Fix: Trying to select stages 5,6 or 7 manually wasn’t working
Enhancement: To make the game a little more challenging, the bomb is now affected by wind. The wind direction and speed is designated by the Clouds.
Enhancement: Zombies! They walk around, you can blow them up
Enhancement: Short Tutorial Page

Any randomization of the cityscapes yet or maybe the zombies? Does blowing up the zombies get you more points?
EDIT: Oh, there is wind now! Is that randomized from run to run of the level? Does the wind also affect the falling buildings?

The zombies are different to each level, but they don't randomize on each play of the level. I'm still working on the random cityscapes, it's harder than I thought to make it work smoothly every time :)
The wind is 100% random in each level play. It doesn't really affect the buildings, only the bomb. You can tell the direction and the speed by the clouds.

Okay I finally grabbed the game and while enjoying it I did it on your PROMISE of a Survival Random Cityscape Mode (destroying randomly generated but progressively more difficult cityscapes until a level is failed at which point the user can enter their combined city destruction scores so far in some sort of leaderboard (even if only local)).
Stat screen appears broken currently. While the Level and Combined scores seem to be displaying alright, only the bombs dropped stat is showing up in the Stats area and the exit screen button isn't working. :(
