Okay, everytime I press the home button, I slide my finger to unlock the screen at the bottom. It doesn't respond to the touch. All that it does is highlight the area around the slide to unlock screen and say 'Slide to unlock'. And when I click on the time at the top it says the time. Can someone tell what to do. And also when I put in the computer it charges but about 10 seconds later it just stops charging. What do I do!!???

P.s
I can unlock and navigate around the iTouch. I just can't play apps.

Edit:
I can't even open the home screen now!!!! :S :S :S

Have you tried to restore it? Also try to sync again with out the last few apps that you installed. One of them might be the problem.

Turn it on and do a hard reset, holding power and home screen button at same time. Ignore the "Slide to power off" and just keep holding.

Synch the ipod.

Knock it against a wall.

Eat it.

Synch again and install IOS4 (Backup first)

Let me know what happens.

I stand by my earlier statement in another one of your threads.

You shouldn't jailbreak.

Sounds like you've installed a lockscreen widget (or more likely a combination) that's screwed up your Springboard. I'm guessing you've already tried booting into safe mode? Most likely it is still possible to recover from it without restoring, but it's gonna be hit and miss without knowing exactly what you've got installed on there.

Now is just about the worst possible time you could choose to jailbreak. There's been a major new firmware release today, and most app developers are getting ready to rush out their first updates and compatibility fixes - most likely this is going to break something, if not the app itself under one or other of the firmware versions, then compatibility between it and some other apps. Which in turn means more fixes will be needed, and you're going to be seeing a LOT of bugs as various app deveopers frantically try to juggle support for both the old and new firmwares. Trust me, the 3.0 release was a nightmare and iOS 4 is set to be even worse, since it makes far more fundamental changes to the OS than anything in 3.x ever did; you're almost certainly going to end up bricking your phone at least once.

My advice? Forget jailbreaking, restore your device and upgrade to iOS 4 - shouldn't be a hassle since your device is semi-bricked anyway. Wait until the end of the summer when everything's calmed down and then look into jailbreaking again if you're still convinced you absolutely need to.

Ok so I tried installling blackra1n on my computer and then tried putting it on my 2g iPod but failed. (my computer is a piece of junk)
So I just give up trying to jailbreak it since I could get the new 4.0 instead.
But when I plug in my iPod to update it, it said error and erased all of my songs! (I can get them back of course). So now I try to restore it and it's saying it's no longer eligible to restore. I think this is because of my failed attempt to jailbreak it but I'm not sure. Or it may have something to do with the fact that I dropped it in the water a couple of months ago. Any advise would help right now.

iTunes can't pick it up so I can't restore.

Edit: Can I get a refund if they can't see Cydia or pick it up on iTunes? Should I try?

LOL! Sounds like you've turned on voice over.

If that is the case, you should be able to disable it with a triple-click of the home button.

Voice over wouldn't cause it to hang on unlock or not be recognized by iTunes. Although it wouldn't surprise me if the problem was caused by that clashing with something he'd installed.
