Updating Firmwares (iPod Touch)

Hey guys, I would just like to ask. Is there any way I can update the Firmware of my iPod Touch without deleting my saved games. Or is there anyway I can backup my datas so when I upgrade the Firmware, I can just sync them back in? Thanks so much for your time. :D
