Multitasking works fine, it's the background wallpaper that's causing my iPod to lag...

Steve Jobs said that it doesn't hurt performance and battery, so it makes no sense on why the iPhone 3g/ Ipod touches can't run it!

There is another resource you are forgetting about: Memory. The old devices only have half the RAM of the ones that support multitasking.

Yes, but he still said that it doesn't hurt performance AT ALL!

If he did... why did he exclude iPod touch 2g & the iPhone 3g?

I read quite a few blogs & watched a few vids.
It cuts down the performance, Din' attempt as to get it un-jailbroken is a long procedure.

yes, because there is plenty of memory for a fe multitasking aware apps to share, this wouldn't be true in only 128 mb

My guess? To nudge people into upgrading their devices = $$$.

I really think that's why.

[That, and the fact that older devices have less RAM, but they still didn't need to exclude those devices.]

True....
It is always about the Money & Speed (ram)!

however they had gyroscope which is going to change the face of iOS gaming as one of the MAIN reasons for an upgrade.

Multitasking works fine, but it's a battery drainer and it uses most of the ram if you have several apps open.

He wants everyone to have a iPod-friendly preformance (since the uneducated in technology will complain that they will want multitasking to not slow down their device, when it can't be possible), it's not like he wanted to let down the other devices. I seriously wish I hadn't installed backgrounds when I jailbroken, since that uses up ram also...
