This may sound dumb but I need help restoring. It keeps on coming up with the same message: Could not restore iPod Touch. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.

I have tried to downgrade. What do I do? What happens if I update???

HELP ME!!!????

Are you in DFU mode?
Here's how.
Hold the power and home buttons (like you would in a hard reset)
Hold it until the whole iPod turns off (but don't let go of the button!)
yeah so like you keep your finger on the home button when it turns off and it's okay to take it off the power button.
Hold the home button until the iTunes->USB logo shows up

It's the only way out of it, you'll lose like everything alright?

I already tried that. Same thing happened.

You cannot downgrade from iOS4. Apple digitally signs every install of iOS, and they stopped signing 3.1.3 and below after iOS4 was released. Unless you have a hash of the signature already saved from before you upgraded, you cannot downgrade.

Ahahaha really? Crafty bastards.yeah...so if you upgrade and have problems with iOS4, you're stuck until they (well, if they) release a patch.

Should I try to re jailbreak?

Or should I download 4.0 and restore with that (I can only restore with 3.1.3)

Upgrade to 4.0 and wait for a jailbreak

I can restore and update to 4.0, the only thing that sucks sh*t is that the damn download restarts every time the internet resets (which is every damn phone call I get and every damn time I PAUSE it).

Edit: I have finally restored (at 12:00AM because I knew wouldn't get any phone calls). Firmware 4.0 is very impressive, but it's obvious the Apple is try to counter Jailbreak with it's features :O

My girlfriend used iTunes to update music and iTunes automatically did a software update as well. Since we jailbroke it with Spirit before, I know the hash file is saved, but I can't find on the cydia website how to access it. Is there a guide for that?

Uhh, there is a jailbreak for 4.0 already.

They're called redsn0w, PwnageTool, (Mac), and sn0wbreeze (Windows)
