I think it means there is 28 levels in total set over 4 zones

i damn well better hope so... i bought this and this is by far the worst app i ever purchased. the intro doesn't work, the main menu is bugged and i can't even get the story to load up. well done dev, well done! $#%&...

We are sorry for that...because the 1.0 version have memory problem!
When we find it out the Game is release! We fix this problem already and the new version is submit yesterday.So don't worry...it will run well on the new version.don't angry be happy:o

I've played 4-5 levels and i'm loving it so far.
Art is very stunning.
It's almost same like pvs, but
with different enemies.
If you love pvs, you will love this one too.
I notice that you can buy difference things
that you can kill enemies, what is a great idea.
And music is too stunning. Buy it. ;)

This a solid Plants vs Zombies clone with some fun gameplay and a cool theme. Background story to the game is about demons and humans, who once lived together peacefully on the same continent, a place called Orz. One day the humans angered the demons, the peace was gone and demons are now fighting off the humans to keep them away from the devil cave and make them pay. The theme and characters of the game are funny. You play on the side of the demons. The tone of the game is more wacky, cartoony, and goofy than anything serious. The character creativity and design is amusing, some cool stuff.

The actual gameplay is almost identical to Plants vs Zombies, setup and level design is very similiar. You play a level, complete it and most of the time earn or unlock a new character unit or even a magic skill as reward, and then move on. Magic skills are an extra feature to this game that set it apart a bit from being a complete PvsZ clone as far as the gameplay goes, and give Leave Devil Alone more of a castle defense game element to it as well as a TD game. There are quite a few different magic skills or attacks to use on your enemies or as powerups, at least 10 that include a firebolt, a freeze attack, lightning, health cures, rage boosts... and more. The magic skills are a nice addition to the units on the ground and all the fighting. Magic skills can be upgraded in between levels as you earn coins for defeating enemies during gameplay. You can also purchase new character units with the coins when you have enough. There are a total of 16 characters/units to be unlocked and the game has 34 different enemies according to the game almanac.

During each level of the game you have to earn souls to summon the available units you have. There is a tombstone unit that will earn you the souls when placed on the playing field just like placing the sunflower plants earned you sun to summon units in plants vs zombies. The tombstone pumps out the souls pretty fast so thankfully you don't have to wait at an annoying pace to gather them. Occasionally when you defeat enemies, $ coins will pop up for you to collect, the $ coins are used to purchase more better units and upgrades in between the levels. To pick up the souls or the coins you just tap on them quick enough after they pop up, or you can simply just slide your finger around on the screen to collect them without even lifting your finger once, a cool feature for anyone like me who’s getting a little sick and tired of games that require you to pinpoint and tap away at the screen constantly to collect things.

Placing your units is as simple as dragging the ones you want onto the playing field where you want it. You do have to be somewhat precise with your drag or it will be cancelled or misplaced, but this is not a big problem or issue most of the time.

Anyway, the action in this game gets pretty chaotic after the first 5 or so levels. There are some wacky looking enemies and even bosses with special moves, each enemy you usually have to formulate the best strategy/units to use to take them out. The game does get somewhat challenging at times, and setting the units in the right places is important. For example, you may want to put your best units in the middle or back of the field and the cheaper more expendable units on the frontline, because the frontline is always taking shots and susceptible to damage from the enemies, especially the bosses who tend to break through your frontline with ease.

There is a good level of balance to go with the gameplay for the most part, though some of the magic skills feel worthless until you upgrade them. I’m sure the game could be fine tweaked for a little better balance, but as it is now its pretty good.

As for the presentation of this game... Its very good and runs smooth on my 3GS (without the new software update) Menus in the game are nicely setup. There are many noticeable spelling errors and some bad english translation to the text in the game, it obviously doesn’t effect the gameplay at all but this is something that needs to be fixed and more polished, but I can overlook it for now since it’s something that can be easily corrected in an update. Sound and game music is good, graphics/artwork are very good.

I give the game a 9/10 for its great gameplay. The best way to describe it overall is that it is without a doubt a PvsZ clone with a new theme, there are many similarities to the level design and there is even the almanac/library to describe the characters and everything. I would say that even though this is a PvsZ clone and not entirely original in terms of gameplay, that its right up there on the same level of PvsZ as far as the quality and fun goes. Leave Devil Alone is far from a generic game. In fact as far as the gameplay goes I give Leave Devil Alone the same 9/10 score as I gave PvsZ.. Many people will like the theme in Leave Devil Alone, and with the addition of magic skills with upgrades and castle defense elements to the gameplay thrown in... many may even like Leave Devil Alone better than Plants vs Zombies.

A few cons:
---English translation needs to be smoothed out, spelling errors/typos seen frequently. All needs to be corrected.
---Hard to get a peak at what's coming next from the right side of the screen during gameplay, it would be nice if you had a liitle more view or if you could pan over.
---Magic attacks are too weak for many enemies before you upgrade them.

This game is great :). Never had a problem since 1.0, using os 4.0 iphone 4. If you like plants vs. zombies it has same playstyle, with a twist of using the occasional cool magic. It getting harder later on which make it more interesting comparing to pvz which is pretty easy except for the annoying lvl 4 where the fogs were in place. Kinda have a nag with the enemies guy with the big grin on his face, seem to be out of place compare to other enemies.

I try out pigs vs wolf, dictator, I like this more and it really close to pvz.

I was lucky enough to snag one of the promo codes, and at 99 cents I really see no reason why someone who enjoys a game like PvZ shouldn't pick this one up as well.

The graphics are great, and the animations are pretty snazzy as well. The gameplay gets pretty hectic even by the 4th stage, but if you've mastered PvZ, you'll feel right at home.

As far as a casual game goes, I think it honestly might be a bit too complex, as it takes everything from PvZ and adds magic as new mechanic. I often forget I even have spells because I'm so busy trying to put down traps and collect souls.

The only other small beef I have is that the descriptions/text are a little rough around the edges at times, and in some cases left me scratching my head as far as what exactly the trap I was just awarded did.

However overall it's a good game, and very much worth a buck. 4/5 stars from me right now, and I look forward to future updates!

Lori, I feel you are very impatient lol. BUT, I did try the game, I am only 3 levels in on the lite version. It is very good. It has fast load times, great animations and I am SO SICK of zombies so it is nice to see a change. I love the demons, devils vs the king and his peons. Very good job dev. I will be picking up the full version as long as you don't ask me a million times lol ;)

"Leave Devil Alone" impressions:

Played on an iPad to accommodate my fat old fingers. It's not universal, but doesn't look or play bad at 2x. Universal down the road would be appreciated though.

The art style is excellent and creative. No complaints there. Even the fact that the farmers look like Jon from Garfield doesn't bother me because blowing him to hell is fun. I also like the fact that it supports profiles.

Text is occasionally hard to follow. For example, in the opening story, a line reads:

Once upon a time there is a continent called ORZ
humans and demons were were in peace.

"Is" in the first line should be "was" since "Once upon a time" establishes this was in the past. The second line really should start with a capital letter. The first line should end with a period. There should be one less "were" in the second line, and even then it's not a well formed sentence. A better sentence might be "Humans and Demons lived in peace."

This carries over to descriptions of cards, spells and tutorial directions.

It might be a good idea to partner up with someone who speaks and writes English well for future updates to clean it up a bit.

Tutorial:

Tutorial pop-ups don't pause the action, but I've noticed they can interfere with the interface and don't always dismiss when tapped, especially if they are waiting for you to perform an action.

For example, on the mission after getting the rock, a farmer was approaching, a pop-up told me to place a rock in his path, but the timer for the rock hadn't refilled from the last one I had placed. The pop-up didn't go away and I couldn't collect souls or place a slime to stop the farmer.

A solution would be to instantly give the player what she/he need to accomplish what the tutorial wants at that time. The fact that it previously told me how and where to place a rock and was now redundant and in the way doesn't help.

During the magic tutorial, the player is told to tap and drag the magic to use it. It's actually tap to select and then tap, hold, drag on the playfield to place. Drag from the bottom bar as instructed doesn't work.

It's tap, drag and release from the top bar for the monster cards though. Having two ways to use things could add confusion when things get hectic. Better to pick one and use it for both things. I would suggest sticking to the way magic works. Dragging from the top bar to place cards is annoying compared to tap to activate, tap and release on the field to place.

Tap and drag the hand to remove a placed piece also wastes time.

After the first (or even second) time picking monsters and magic at the beginning of a level, I really don't need to be told how to do it anymore.

The Shop:

Some more bad English happening. More of a problem is the fact that no prices are listed in the "Magic" upgrade descriptions. You don't know the price of an upgrade until you click on "Buy".

I bought the Doll Bomb, but had no idea how to activate it. It was a waste as far as I can tell. It just sat there and got chopped up. Leaving it alone did nothing, tapping it when a farmer was near did nothing. The description in the shop doesn't help:

"She was a beautiful
princess.
lots of men love her.
One day.the princess
became
a doll.She swear she will
find who did it to her."

And that's it. No help at all.

Also, after buying it a sign pops up over the icon and the price in the description that reads "Saleout". "Sold" is the word you want.

The first level after the shop is stupid hard compared to the ones before. A bit of a gameplay balance issue. I lost, but possibly because I spent too much time and souls trying to get the damned doll to do something instead of shoring up my defenses.

It is nice that losing just makes you start the level over again, instead of the whole game.

That all said, I'm done with it for now. I'll probably revisit it after an update. I would give it a 3/5 stars, which isn't that bad if you recall that I'm not really a fan of TD style gameplay.

For 99¢ it's a cinch to get, especially if it's supported with updates that smooth out the rough spots.

At the original $2.99 price, I would advise only getting it if you really like "Plants vs. Zombies" style of gaming, or after the rough spots have been taken care of with updates.

And I am still waiting ;) I would just buy it as I own Plants vs Zombies on both Steam(PC) and iPod and will own the XBOX 360 one when it comes out as well as I love the game, so I figured this would be up my alley :)

The profile are good as Collin states, but I haven't really noticed about the English as much?? Maybe it's because I'm more action less reading kind of person, but I'm going check on it.

Intro story artwork on it was splendid, nice comic-like action there, but it's the same quality through out the game. In-game tutorial worked, had a problem with a tombstone that was placed somewhere needed later on for a sand ghost and I didn't know then how to erase stuff, but apart from that it was all good.
There are three things you need to keep up with: collecting souls, adding monsters and using spells. It can be hard to do, it is for me so far - need to practice more. And unlocking items/spells as you go is a good motivator.

I think the game is a great package in sounds, graphics and gameplay.

-------doll bomb is a good item.when first you build it she is in sleep,when she wake up she will destroy the enemy who near her.you don't need to activate it,she will wake up auotomatic. we will fix this description in next update.thanks for you remind us :)

Yea that's the one.

the first BOSS will kill every Target with one hit!

When he is come out from right...has yellow light surond him.

This time he is Invincible! So dont't waste your magic.

When he is prepare to attack the yellow light will disappear.It is a good time to beat him!

before he is attack..you hit him over 250 HP he will stun...Then you can kill him so easy...what can made 250 dps? LV3 fireball or LV1 fireball + LV1 lighting + few hit by sand ghost!

if you can not stun him..don't worry use tombstone or doll bomb blocking his attacks...Patience..you will did it!:)

This is a very good variation on the Plants vs Zombies concept — with enough additional material to make it worth looking into for anyone that enjoys this type of game: the story seems solid, the characters are cool, the graphics and animations are very nice indeed.
One critical point though: the engrish translations are awful. You definitely need a native speaker to correct them. Half the time I'm just guessing at what the various texts mean. This is, of course, especially problematic for the descriptions of magic powers and monsters: not knowing what they will do for you before you buy them is a bit off. I feel the name of the game probably doesn't really help — Leave Devil Alone sounds a bit strange and stilted to me, even though I don't have any better suggestions at the moment.

Good fun game though, as I said, worth checking out for anyone interested. Playing as the bad guys makes for a cool change. I'm certainly going to be playing all the way through it.

I'll clarify: when you tab to the Magic section and click on the icons it describes the magic and current magic level with an "Upgrade" button in the bottom right. Until you tap the "Upgrade" button, you don't see a cost or the "Buy" button.

You can combine these two steps into one by adding "Next level" to the end of the description, how it will change after that, and putting the cost on the first screen. Then change "Upgrade" to "Buy".

Example:

Influence
Increase the number of monsters that can be controlled.
Max: 5
Next Level - Max: 6

Need: 2000 BUY
---
This eliminates an unnecessary step, and means the player doesn't have to click "upgrade" on each bit of magic to find out how to best spend points.

I see. I didn't know there was a wakeup time, so I was just putting them in the path ahead of the advancing farmer. Some indication of which path the next enemy to appear will be arriving on would help. An arrow, dot or something. It sucks to be fortifying a line that isn't the next to see action.

- I wish Bat Bomb would work in all directions. Otherwise it's too costly to use compared to Doll Bomb.

- In the shop, there should be better descriptions of the items, and perhaps some figures to tell us how strong each card is (I always wonder which one will better resist the enemy). It could be broken down into several parts, such as health, strength, defense, damage, etc.

I see, thank you for the explanation of Arch sand ghost. You should probably add this instruction into the game descriptions.

Bat Bomb seemed to only work for the same row (not across rows). To me, the cost of 150 for something that works once is a bit high. How about reducing its cost to 100?

The bat bomb is not very useful an the begin Level. But his 750 damage is very useful at the late Level. Like Leve 14~28 try it you will know why the price is bit high;)

After playing several levels of this game I can honestly say if you are a fan of the other similar vegetation vs corpse game or not it is a very good and funny game. The animations are well done, the options you have for dismissing the kings men are plentiful and the loading is fast on my 2g os4.0 itouch. Very good game, recommended

ok i just read how i need the death god to use the arch death god and the tri-head snake to use the ancient serpent,but why do you have the arch death god and ancient serpent in the store to buy before you have the death god and tri-head snake? i bought these and spent a TON of coins on them and now they're useless until i have the others? why did you not make the basic versions of these purchaseable in the store BEFORE you buy the upgraded versions? i would've saved my money until later had i known and just leveled up my magiccccccc.......

I have tried out your game but could not manage to go far with it. This game is very challenging (perhaps too challenging for some casual players), and I am wondering if this is part of the reason why the feedback has been relatively limited.

First of all, there are many positive elements to your game. The graphics are superb, and the whimsical upgrade system is well implemented. The intermix between the boss battles and the regular waves of enemies definitely keeps the gamer on his/her toes.

My biggest challenge I faced when playing this game was that I found the pacing of the levels to be too uneven. Even with practice, I simply found the levels to be too imbalanced. Moreover, I frequently found myself with no idea (even after a lot of replays for observation) about how to formulate specific attacks against the bosses. Some of the bosses' attacks cannot be defended in any way, and it is disheartening to watch your unit die when the game turns into a mundane battle of "if you can replace your units fast enough." The limited size of the grid also makes the practice of such strategy difficult (especially if you have to divert at least 2-3 rows to resource farming rather than attack or defense units). In the end, I feel very little sense of accomplishment even after winning a level, since I would attribute the win to chance only because of some fluke weakness in the enemy waves.

There is a lot of potential in this game, and I absolutely adore the characters you have created. Perhaps some tweaking in the weaker elements I had mentioned above will help to expose your game to a much bigger target audience.

Maybe you could implement difficulty levels. Don't slow the whole game down. When I first played, the initial boss level was tough, but after I restarted a few times and got enough money for better upgrades, I got through it. My strategy is about 2 rows of soul catchers, followed by doll bombs if I have the space, various projectile throwers, and at the end the tall purple rock. The enemies do start coming faster than I can build, which presents the main difficulty. I try to use doll bombs at the start, plus magic.

---you can have more than 5 items! when you upgrade your Influence magic you can have more than 5 items.So if Lv5 Influence you can have 10 items!

No. It is not too hard. There is another thread for this game already. I picked it up today and enjoy it greatly, however I would like the option to tap the unit I want to use and then place it instead of having to drag. Same with magic. Its the only reason I don't enjoy this game more than plants vs zombies.

The list will update in next version:

-remove hidden item bar function
-Combine the magic description in shop
-you just can buy the upgrade version item when you have the basic one
-tap the unit you want to use and then place it instead of having to drag. Same with magic.

Hey Lori thanks for the code, sorry it’s taken me a week to add my review of the game.

I agree with 3Dave and Collin on pretty much everything they said. The graphics look great and the art style is well done. The game is a nice addition to the app store, and for those wondering it’s in the same style of game play as the popular PvZ game.

I’ve played up until the first boss fight and boy was that a tough one to beat. I like this game for the way it changes the style of game play and adds more depth. For example instead of just throwing down items to block/kill advancing enemies you can also use magic to freeze or kill them by collecting souls, a very nice touch in my opinion. And instead of just getting the next upgrade card automatically you can buy extra cards from the store to add to your arsenal. I also like the fact that there is a boss at the end of the level that challenges you.

The one complaint I have the most is the description of items and sometimes the “broken” English wording. I often will read a description on something in the magic shop and have no idea what it’s for. And from reading the description it gives no help as to what it does, how it attacks, or when it’s used. It also sounds like there are things you can buy right at the beginning that you wouldn’t be able to use until later in the game, at least according to twiztid, why is that? At least include some indicator of what level something is, or not make it available until you have the first card in play.

The game itself is fun, if you like this style of game then pick it up, you wont be sorry. I think after a few tweaks to descriptions and wording with a little help from someone, then you might have a 5 star game here. Right now I give it 4 stars.

What I would like to see added/changed:
- Better English translation
- Better description of cards/items/spells and how they are used and what they do.
- Remove things from the store that you are unable to use at low level, wait till we get to that level and then add them in as “new” items to buy.
- Possibly add some mini games or a "fight as the good guys" mode. I could see beating the game and not having much left to do after that. With at least an addition of those it might keep people coming back for more.
- Clean up the “Library” … on one screen it’s called the Library on another it’s called Almanac. Make it easier to read and find things, right now you have arrows going all over the place. Just give me headings with sub topics like Good Guys > Click > Shows me a list of my guys… Bad Guys > Click > Shows me a list of the bad guys... Spells > Click, you get the idea.

That’s it for now, if I can think of more I’ll try to post again. Thanks for the great game by the way I look forward to seeing updates and how it progresses.

Someone most likely mentioned this in the previous installment threads but this is vastly familiar to PvZ.

Now about the game, as TD fan, I enjoyed the first few levels so far. Now the translation is a bit awkward but it doesn't stain the experience much. The graphics are clean and the polish is certainly there. Not much to add here as it seems stable so far other than the translation. You should definitely spell check or look over your description box on itunes as it looks unprofessional to the customer. Example: read the lite part of the description.

Okay just thought I could throw in some input for this game.
This is definitely the best PVZ type clone in the appstore (comparing to the other 8-9ish out there). At first it seemed difficult and unbalanced, but playing over and over, it had a nice rhythm that I was able to catch on to, making it much more enjoyable and easier. Comparing it to Plants vs. Zombies, as far as "flow" of the game, I would say it’s more stressful and intense throughout the game, probably like the last 3-4 levels of Plants vs. Zombies how they would get intense and you slightly panic with close calls, well this one is more like that for those who haven't tried it. Animation and sound is great (aside from the Final Fantasy picking sound ). Definitely lots of care was given to design this game. It’s addicting in a way where you always want to try again with a different strategy after you get your ass handed to you by being overrun.
Suggestions for future updates after hours of playing this game are as follows:

1. Allow previous level selecting after a level is beat. I would like to go back to an earlier level to try different strategies. Not sure if it can be done after the game is beaten since I am at the last boss but would be nice to try already complete levels again to make cash for power ups and not have to keep playing one level constantly to advance..
2. A “restart level" with previously selected items since it is tedious and time consuming to have to re-pick them all again after a restart. Perhaps have a “quick restart" button along with a "Restart" button.
3. Have a total re-write of the descriptions of everything because I still do not understand half of what they are explaining.
4. And my most important request, which is the primary reason for posting is this:
It would be asking a lot, but it would make the "flow" of the game much more consistent and great to somehow maybe reduce the size of the icons on top to choose the defenders so they may all fit on the top without scrolling. Countless times I have either forgotten a defender to use since it is not showing or scrolling to the next set has doomed me. It would really be great to have all items on screen, and I know there are a lot to choose from and it might be difficult to implement, but if that is the case, maybe a button on like bottom right corner and call it something like " A/B" and when that is pressed, it quickly allows a swap of the pickable defenses from one row to the other.
5. HD version? The game already looks great on my ipad but a full HD I would definitely purchase. That would also make all items on top be dislayed without the scrolling since there will be much more screen space. And maybe add ome unique levels to the ipad/HD version

Other than that, great game, at first it was seeming like a major bite of PVZ (which in a way was good), but after playing it, it is far from a clone IMO but hugely influenced by PvZ with some unique elements .

Anyway I would give this game 4.5 out of 5.

we are working hard on descriptions now.
but reduce the size of the icons on top have another problem...the icon too small will let u hard to seclet it.Maybe combine the two arrow into one button is a great idea.
HD version will start to make when the iphone version close to perfect.Plz be patient:)

Hi,

I am just trying this game now. I am a big fan of Plants vs Zombies on the PC. That was a big help in getting right into this game. A lot of what I would have said has been said before . I find it to be a lot of fun. The game runs very smoothly and thanks so much to all of the people that left feedback and got descriptions updated in the magic shop before I even started!
My feedback:
I have only beaten the first boss so far but I was at a loss at what to do. I was thankful for the youtube videos but never seemed to stun the boss like in the video. Somewhere in this thread it was mentioned to use tombstones and dolls to keep him at bay and implied that if you just kept plugging away eventually he would go down. That was a big help. Perhaps somewhere there might be other hints like that. ( I imagine the bosses only get harder!!).
Another thing I noticed is that whereas the sand ghosts have a clearly different icon when they are upgraded, the defense rock and Evil rock seem to have the exact same icon, unlike how they appear in the menu. In the menu, the Evil rock is purple yet when I drag and drop the Evil Rock upgrade onto the defense rock he has the same appearance. This can make it hard to tell in the heat of battle which ones have been upgraded and which haven't. I usually do it systematically so I can tell which ones I have done , such as in order from top to bottom , but I am not even sure if the upgrade is really taking place , they seem to be about the same . : (
I will go a little further , maybe the 2nd boss and then leave itunes feedback as well. In any case, thanks for a great game!

Picked up as free with IAP -- seems like the discussion was before the conversion. It seems to get hard at level 15, and stuff is VERY expensive. Seems like its massive grind, buy IAP, or hope keep trying and hoping its not literally impossible with the stuff I currently have.

Grinding level seems high to me, maybe because there are only 28 levels, so its not spread out. Plus, I didnt feel the need to grind at all pre-15.

Basically, the 40,000 in game cash that is .99 would take almost an hour to grind up, and the 100,000 that is $1.99 would take about 2.5 hours of repetetively doing the same level. And that probably wont be nearly enough . . . for $3.99 you get 400,000 in game cash, and you might need all of it to finish the game.

I dont mind a little grinding, but the prospect of grinding for 2.5 hours and then being short of in game cash is a lot daunting, and grinding for 10 full hours to get the equivalent of 400,000 is prohibitive. (I imagine that with the upgrades you will be able to shave some time off that by pawning the earlier bosses -- but 8 hours is still tons of mindless grinding.)
