It has German language so I thought it could be already available here. But it seems it really is only available in Canada. I hate getting teased so I think I will skip this even then when it is finally available here.

Probably best to wait for it to become available in other app stores. It does look promising.

I just made a Canadian account to snag it and think there might be something VERY SLEAZY with this one, perhaps it isn't allowed in the US store.

It is a fun game and you can play for free but it appears, unless I'm missing something, you need to pay to play...maybe this was already the case in games like Eliminate?

You start the free demo with 3 coins, which I assume means 3 plays, and only by PAYING CASH via in-app purchases, can you get more uses!

If going by the Eliminate model does this refresh each day or what? Am I truly only getting 3 uses of this game period?

Yes u start the game with 3 coins but u can easily get free coins according to your scores, I have 5 more so far in 1 hour of gameplay.
Every coin can last for 8-10 levels depending on how good u are.
The Pack of 20 coins is 99c but I haven't had to get one yet.
I wish I could upgrade my ships or use all the objects I collected in a different way (getting different power ups).
So far it's a very entertaining and challenging puzzle game.

I think it might just be me trying to think longer term but, as easy as it is to make coins via achievements I believe that is only a one time thing when the achievement is FIRST made. The game will also give you a free coin each day (but here again is a catch), these daily free coins can't be stacked (i.e. you'll never have more than one coin added this way until you use the last one).

I do like the game but think this feels too close to REAL gambling and have general issues with being told I can't play a game that I've already payed for.

The top half of this picture shows the game in action. Your primary objective is to get your pirate ships (those blue ships lined up on the left hand side of the screen) all the way off the other side of the map. To do this you'll need to eliminate all of the mines blocking their way. To clear this path you need to strategically tap on the red mines to hopefully cause enough of a chain reaction so as to take out many other mines (or at least get them to a point that you can set them off yourself). Besides each mine firing off in certain predesignated directions (just look at the arrows coming off any particular mine in question), to get a mine to fire off to begin with it needs to be sufficiently "primed". If I recall correctly the mine life cycle is miniature blue, full size blue, red (at which point you the player can choose to fire them off), and then blowing up. So to advance these mines you need to blow up other mines that will then send their shrapnel over (shrapnel will travel the full length of the map until it hits something and, although one of your pirate ships can intercept these bits of shrapnel, they don't appear to be affected by it) and if the shrapnel hits an already red mine it will just set it off potentially causing a big chain reaction on the map! As if this weren't enough of a challenge, there are all sorts of enemy ships on the map that, if you are able to blow up with enough pieces of shrapnel will drop a treasure chest (but be careful, additional shrapnel can destroy these chest if you don't tap on them to claim them). So while blasting the baddies for treasure is always fun, just being in the way means they often might absorb a shot you needed to set off another mine so you could get your ships across safely. Play continues on a level until all red mines have been tapped. Those of your pirate ships that were still blocked from exiting on the right are captured. You progress through the levels until your last ship is blocked from exiting a level. Each level throws a denser screen full of enemy ships and mines but, to compensate, tends to offer up far better loot. You open each of your looted treasure chests at the end of the level and within each chest can be either nearly worthless crap, a handful of doubloons, a valuable treasure, a power-up, or maybe even a new pirate ship. With each game you play your character's rank increases which, as far as I can tell, has no real affect on play but just is fun to get better and better titles for your character.

I like your style, man!

They're random and it is a fun game but I'm sure I like it's "pay to play" aspect. It isn't just like Eliminate where you need to buy better weapons/batteries for all future game but that each play costs a token and you only start with a handful of tokens. While you can earn some the FIRST TIME you make some achievements or do well in tournaments against other players, eventually you'll need to BUY more token if you want to keep playing.

To me it is a bit akin to having some fun game I've bought form my Play Station 3 that I'm expected to keep inserting quarters if I want to play MY OWN DANG GAME.

Yeah, except if it was free in the first place, it seems a bit much to complain.

I know, but it feels like I'm renting a game with no option to buy. I know it's all in my head but I think it's just the idea of feeling like I'm always playing a crippled demo unless I keep funneling in the quarters just bugs me.

Whoa whoa whoa!

I have to start this by saying it IS a cute and relatively fun game and I was more than happy to create a new (LordGek2) account to take advantage of this cool 1000 coin launch day bonus...BUT how the BLANKITY BLANK do they think they can charge a premium of $5 for a "pay to play" game like this? When it was FREE they had a good justification of, "Stop whining, you can play the full game for free!" but now I think folk would have the right to get pissed if this pay to play aspect is not made clear from the very onset!

I mean even the Coin Push Frenzy like game regenerate your 40 coins each day but in this one, other than buying more coins, you'll only get ONE a day and maybe a couple if you reach some of the game's achievements.

Pretty tacky giving this game a 2/5 at this point (great game in a sleazy wrapping)!

It was free from day 1 of its launch in Canada months ago so no clear why it would have initially sold for $5 here.

But I'll grant this 1,000 coin give away is a lot nicer than the 20 you got when firing up the game the first time previously.

Still, yes, some odd goings on here.

If you create a new Plus+ identity today and link it up to this game you'll get 1,000! This sounds really hinky to me and I have to wonder if it a way for Plus+ rewarding those of us who will help their numbers look bigger or just something from Big Fish themselves to swell their virtual userbase with this dangling carrot.

You can earn credits in game other than outright IAP in three ways:
1) Achievements: Each achievement when first earned will give you a couple of coins (literally 1 to 3 as I recall).
2) Place somewhere in the weekly tournament (no clue how many coins this could earn you potentially or how this works exactly short of taking your best score of the week to determine your placing).
3) Each day you'll be given 1 coin (but this is tricky as this daily coin doesn't stack, if I recall correctly, so it is only earned on days that you check in and not like you can not play the game for 30 days and login to a stack of 30 additional coins.

While it is a decent game, with the thousand freebies given out today and the handful you'll earn while playing, it is likely to more than cover the amount needed to play this game until you're done with it.

1 coin = 1 game and once good a typical game last 5-20+ minutes.

I downloaded this back when it launched, and only got around to playing it tonight. After one game I went to see how much extra coins cost, and it just sat on "connecting". So I cancelled it, and then went to the iTunes store to find the app page to check out reviews, and see what was up. Couldn't find it. Came here, did a search, found this page, tried the link on the front page... it's no longer in the North American app store.

Anyone know why? Is it because this payment schemes blows? If so, why not re-release the game as a paid 99¢ app, since it has already been built? I liked it well enough as a casual puzzle game, but not well enough to buy coins to play it. Especially if it was only 20 coins for 99¢.

Anyone know if this game is coming back? My wife and I enjoy this game, but it does need some updates as it has glitches. Once you get far enough, you "retire" giving you 100 tokens, and I've never spent a cent then, as you have plenty of coins from then on. But it does have some bugs later on too, like giving you the same bonus items continuously until you reset the game. I found the game to be quite enjoyable overall. It's a nice puzzle game that's pretty relaxing. Thus, I'd love to see it back and updated!

Anyone know if this game is coming back?

Some time ago I requested support because the game no longer works (you have to be online to play this, and the app no longer connected to the game server which keeps track of your coins). A guy from the development team wrote back then, they were still discussing the future of this game and how or if it will come back. That did not sound too encouraging, but hope dies last. At least it's not officially discontinued yet. I loved this game, too.

this game was available on a couple of web sites the first part of last year. I absolutely loved it. Now I have not been able to find anything but this very inadequate & unsatisfied 3 coin demo. you will go broke quickly if you start buying a coin each time you play. it does take a little practice to get the hang of it. and it is still easy to goof up once in a while. I have been very upset by them taking this game out of my reach. If anyone finds a way to get it, preferrably to buy it outright, please please contact me. Thank you very much. Good luck everyone !
