real soccer 2009 worth the $6?

I'm looking into getting this game and I was just wondering other people's opinions. iTunes reviews could be fake so I wanted to see what people on TA thought about real soccer 2009.

I've had it since it came out months ago. I still play it! I'm trying to get all the trophies. I love the game :) The controls are easy to get used to and are great, in my opinion.

To me it wasn't. I couldn't get the multiplayer to work and then after thinking about it think it's just better to stick with xbox version (Pro Evolution) on the big screen.

really fun great graffics very addictive but, the controls werent right for me everytime i would get a break away my finger would slip of the control keypad and then i would stop and stand there while the other team took the ball.....

I finally got it and I'm liking it a lot so far! Yeah I agree a circular control pad like in HOS or BIA or iDracula would probably work better, but it's not too much of an issue for me.

the game was completely worth it back then when it was $10, so at $6, it is also very much worth it.

if u have a passion for football then you will definitly love this.
the multiplayer is good it is not laggy. BUT you are restricted to local wi-fi only.

no global internet matches unfortunately.

i'd give it a 9.5/10.

And we all know Gameloft is capable of this! They did it with Hero of Sparta!

The game is definitely worth getting, especially if your a soccer fan. The bad thing is that some of the names of the clubs and players are different because gameloft doesn't have the license. But if you know your teams, it won't matter that much.

im the one that made this thread, and i bought real soccer 2009 a week ago about. Since i have played it a lot, and it is seriously my favorite game on the iPhone, and i have many. There are so many cups to win, and so many teams and players, i also havent noticed the changing of names or anything, but im not a hardcore soccer fan, but the games length and depth will keep me playing for months. Gameloft, please, pleasae, please, please, please, come out with a baseball or football game like this one is for soccer. It is truly incredible to know that it is a phone i am playing on.

THere are easy, medium, and hard modes I'm pretty sure. Ive only played easy so far. It isn't always easy to score goals, but sometimes i will score more than a few. The opposing teams arent all the same as far as level of ability, or goodness, whatever u want to say, so for instance in cup mode, u play 7 or 14 games or however many depending on the cup. And the opposing teams get better as you r closer to winning the cup. One aspect of the game you may not notice but is amazing is the replays. You just press the pause button during a game or after a goal or nice play, and u can fast forward through the play, change the angle, height, or whatever, and this is helpful for getting the perfect screenshot, for a lockscreen picture like i have : ). This game is AWESOME

This game is bad... oh dear lord it's BAD!!! I don't even know where to start. I've been debating whether to get this game for a while and decided to cave in to quench my soccer fix... boy do I wish I hadn't bothered!

Controls: Man they are bad! What the single most important thing in a game?... the controls! If you can't play it then why bother attempting. Seriously, unrespinsive would be putting it mildly. There seems to be an irritating delay between you pressing a button and the player performing the action and this 'infuriates' me? Why? Because inbetween the time of pressing the button the shoot or pass and the the player actually doing it, I end up getting tackled and this losing the ball. Also, sometimes the buttons don't respond at all! I'll be pressing 'left' but my player will just stand there, and sometimes when I go to pass, the player will just kick the ball out of play... WHY?! Also, the power bar... broken is the word that springs to mind! When you go to shoot, a little power bar appears and the longer you hold the button, the more powerful your shot. Unfortunately, the bar fills up far to quick. If you let go too soon, then your shot is usually too weak, whereas if you hold it a fraction longer, it's to powerul and flies over the bar... it's far too difficult to hid the middle power.

Also in addition, the fairness of the game... even on easy! Why is it that when I perform a perfectly legal tackle I get a red card, yet if the CPU does the exact same he rarely gets even a yellow? Seriously, I had three players sent off in one match for completely fair tackles??? And, some of the bottom teams seem to play much better than they should... Newcastle United playing like they were Barcelona?... I don't think so!!! Being a Man Utd supporter, I naturally chose the Red Devils, but it doesn't seem accurate when I struggle to even get the ball of chuffing Middlesborough.

I can't wait until EA releases Fifa... hopefully they'll do a better job, because currently, Real Soccer is more League One than Premier League!

what are you on about. everyone has their own opinion but after playing it a lot on my friends ipod i havent recieved a card yet and have laughed at some of the tackles i have made. but hey its your experience with the game.

i do agree though about FIFA. i cant wait for it as it should be brilliant. pity it wont be for 5/6 months

I'm not sure how anyone can complain about this one, especially for 6 bucks. This is probably the first game in the HISTORY of game where the mobile phone verision is actually better than its portable console versions. And yes I've played it on the DS. And yes I enjoy it better in the iphone (though to be fair that's partly because of the novelty of it being on the iphone i.e. it gets a few extra points...if that makes sense).

Yes the only time your finger should leave the d-pad is when initiating a sprint. The d-pad seems like it should be treated like a virtual joystick...the 4 arrows aren't the only place you may touch.

yeah multiplayer hasnt worked for me either.......I think that it is local multiplayer not global multiplayer, so you could only play if your friend in the same area was on.

obviously all opiniosn are valid -0 but you have to weigh them up by how many people agree - most people agree that Real Football 2009 is fantastic

main thing that would get me playing it more would be teams in the 3 leagues below the English Premiership - so from Championship, Div One and Div Two

Leeds United are in Div One - two levels below Premier League - yet they get 30-40,000 fans at most home games

just concentrating on who's in the Premiership is missing out on a lot of fans who would 'HAVE' to get this if their team was one they could play as

Personally, I want Crystal Palace in there (even if I quite like playing as Liverpool!)

Yes! Photogene is such a great app sometimes I don't realize that it's a 3rd party app. It has a perfect place on the iPhone. I use it all the time! Yeah if multiplayer became worldwide for Real Soccer 2009 it would be incredible.

I was trying to play my friend at school who also has the game on the wi fi connection and it wouldnt work or it was too slow.

I have 2 questions:

1.) I've read the comments in this thread about this having real names for playes and clubs, yet the description says "198 teams with real players' names thanks to FIFPro football license." What gives?

2.) Argentina is a member of FIFPro and I have relatives there, so I was wondering about a couple of clubs. Are Boca Juniors and Estudiantes included?

I think the players are real but the teams are renamed due to licensing.

Re: multiplayer: for me it's been hit and miss, sometimes it works flawlessly other times there is lag or loss of connection. When it does work though, it's pretty awesome!

I have the DS version and if not wrong, the iPhone version is just a direct port like BIA and Assassin's Creed. Imho, it's too simple and easy compared to Fifa and Pro Evo. The iPhone version might feel more difficult just because of the clumsy controls.
