View Full Version : A great way to cheat at Fieldrunners

1. Construct a path from the start to the finish leaving one square from it, like in the screenshot (you need not construct a straight path like in the screenshot - any way you want)
http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/58/img0027.png
2. When the fieldrunners seem like they are escaping, pause the game. Remove a tower at the beginning of the path. Close the path at the end where the fieldrunners are escaping with another tower. Like in the screenshot, the fieldrunners are forced to go the other way.

3. If the fieldrunners come close to the beginning of the path where there is a way out, do Step 2 the other way.
This didn't work so well as I constructed a straight path. But with longer and twisted paths, you can trap the fieldrunners for as long as you want.

What about helicopters?

Helicopters you can do nothing about!

7 lives at round 25 isn't good.

I know! But I just played to demonstrate how the cheat was done. I've gone up to level 100 with 20 lives in Crossroads (Medium difficulty)!

this is already a known technique called the 'endless maze'.

Yea but if you do that cheat it's well. Cheating. I don't use it.

It's not cheating - it is creative use of available resources.
While it is useless against airborne if you can get this going soon enough you rake the cash in to then point firepower upwards.

Actually this was my brother's idea. I don't like using this technique either. Some may find it interesting though.

riceman is right. This is not a cheat at all. That technique is often the only way to 'stop' the onslaught on higher levels of mazeable TD's and is used fairly often. You don't have to enter anything or to glitch your way around anything, etc. it's just using the game mechanics to your advantage, hence no cheat at all.
In a fixed TD you can not depend on such cheap tactics and that is the reason why i like fixed TD's over mazeable one's in general...

This "creative use of resources" must take alot of attention. Then it won't be goo for me because I get distracted WAY to easily.

I agree! How can you cheat by playing according to the rules of the game. The helicopters are what keep your defense strategy honest.

This is one of the reasons I prefer Tower Defense games with predefined paths. Btw. try Sentinel. It's a great new Tower Defense game.

It is certainly not cheating, but your score takes a hit every time you sell a tower. So your high scores, wont be so... high.

I made it to wave 750 using that tried and true technique.

Was posted month ago and is well known.
But if you use this technique, the game is senseless.

This isn't a cheat, it's just another strategy. I find it works best on Crossroads.

it's not cheating if you use the tools they give you. it's called being creative. Cheating is finding a way to block them in an area with no escape or using a code to change something.

How did you manage that? I only managed it to round 175.
You still have to build up double rows along the beelines the plane and helicopters make.

i really don't remember what my towers looked like at the beginning lol. i built the general path for the fieldrunners to follow, and gradually filled up spaces with mortars and upgraded them. i had more flamethrowers and teslas at the beginning too, but replaced them all. this is the earliest screenshot i have, probably around round 450ish:

How long does it take to get to level 949? Sounds a little bit boring to me.

Selling really hurts your score so the game penalizes you in that way. I haven't ever used this strategy but it can obviously be very powerful.
