View Full Version : How do you change an app icon?

And can you change its name as well? I would like to change the BiteSMS icon and name to the default one and then just hide the default one. Any way to do this??

Normally with iTunes you can right click or control+I and it will bring up "Information". - Although I don't think it is possible.

Yeh you need SSH to do it but I wanted some instructions if someone knew.

If you're using a Winterboard theme it'll likely have an icon folder. Just add your own in there, making sure the file name is the same as the app name. Must be .png.

Not sure about chaning the name, you'd need to edit the .ipa itself.

SSH into your phone, create a theme folder and name the new image the name of the app.. (BiteSMS.app or whatever it is). Select the theme in Winterboard.

Oh. Idk wanna do that then. Last time I used Winterboard it severely drained my battery. Thanks though.

Without Winterboard, find the app's folder, and replace the icon inside.

App Store apps: /User/Applications
Cydia & built-in apps: /Applications

I'm not sure but the title might be in the info.plist file, otherwise google it.

Its easy. Just go on Cydia, Seach Bitesms to Regular SMS, download it, then go to Winterboard, select it and it will change the icon to the Default SMS app icon, I have it like that and it does not drain my battery.

No, unfortunately it doesnt change the name, it just says "biteSMS" but i think there is another way to change that, I just dont know how lol.
