I'm just checking with the admin team here that i'm allowed to add a guide how to do this, but in the meantime take a look at some of my retina display icons I have updated myself for some of my apps.

download iPhone explorer and change the 2X icons i believe. Don't need to be jailbroken

Correct, you don't need to be jailbroken to do this. You really might as well though, if you have the least bit of computer literacy(i.e. if you can do this). It'll literally take less than 10 minutes and it can make a good phone great.

In every app folder there is an iTunesArtwork file. It has no extension, but once you download it you can add .png. Resize the file to 114x114 and replace it with the original icon file in the app folder. Do not bother adding @2x, just replace the original icon file. They're not always icon/Icon.pngs, and the titles (as implied) are case sensitive.

Can't get it working just yet. Are there any good apps in the App Store so I can just resize the image and use iFile to do this?
