I'm also new to jailbreaking, but Infinifolders has been my best purchase by far. Brought my iPhone down from 11 full pages to 3 that aren't quite full. Of all the jailbreak apps I've seen, this was the one I would have really wanted in the OS anyway.

MyWi and My3G are my two must-haves. The others are gravy. MyWi and My3G also saved my bacon when our DSL modem broke at home and we were without WiFi nor internet of any kind at home.
Also, WiFiFoFum is really cool. I love the radar view of nearby wifi access points. Perhaps not something I'll use much, but a very nifty tool.

Regarding MyWi and My3G... am I the only person with an iPhone who doesn't have an unlimited data plan, and who does actually have good wi-fi at home anyway? I have yet to see a use for these apps, but I feel like I'm the only one.

Nice topic. I found a few apps I was never aware of. Good stuff.
Does anyone have mobile terminal working on their iPhone 4?
If so what was your workaround? Does the unstable build on google code work?
I hate using ssh without it. :(

Regarding MyWi: When you aren't at home? Or if you're home internet goes down (as happened to us for almost a week)? Or if you have an iPod touch or old iPhone that you want to share your new iPhones 3G with when not at home? Or with a DS or PSP or what have you when not at home? The possibilities are endless for MyWi, but then if none of the situations ever happen for you then there's little value in it. FYI, to share with a DS or DSi, you have to enter the network name manually on the DS/DSi - it wont' show up on those when searching for a network. However, if you manually enter the name (and password if using such), it works great!
Regarding My3G. For downloading podcasts on the road, that are over the download size limit? Downloading app updates while on the road? Facetime over 3G? Etc, etc.

The one you download from Google Code will work, but not entirely. Preferences don't work at all, and probably other stuff.

ScummVM is my fave. Adventure games are a natural fit on the i-devices.

Yeah, I guess it just doesn't apply to me personally. I don't have an unlimited data plan, and don't really have a need for it. The 20MB limit would be nice to bypass though. I'm mostly just surprised with the percentage of people I see list it as a top 5... pretty much 9 out of every 10 posts I've seen on this and other forums. Thanks for the tips though.

I just jailbroke my iPad cuz I plan to install iTether or a similar app so I can hook my iPhone to my iPad. Also would like folders. Has anyone tried Categories with an iPad, and did it work well? This is my first time jailbreaking anything.

It's alright. I don't like Categories, but it does the job. I find it a little slow because it takes time to load. There is also CategoriesSB, which is supposedly faster, but paid.

I highly recommend CategoriesSB, it is definitely worth the money. For example, my 200 app folder loads within 3sec. Just an example of how "crazy" it can get... and it handles it perfectly fine :p
I also made a Games folder with about 15 subcategories (sorted in gameplay style). These folders hold about 30 to 70 apps a piece. Beats Apple's shitty folder "solution" anytime. CategoriesSB will probably continue it's reign for years to come.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that if you keep the amount around a 100 per folder, it will load instantaneous.

The obvious of iFile, WinterBoard, Backrounder and FontSwamp.
And the less obvious of NES 3, Mobile Terminal and Steam Punk battery (for winterboard).

Would have loved it if it wasn't too slow.So i just use the apple default folder system along with infinifolders.Works really well.

I think you might be thinking of using swipe gestures to bring up the keyboard, but he's referring to the 'Swype' feature on Android; as seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRUoWUhcRlE).
