Is there a (preferably free) app that disguises your iPod so that the App Store thinks that you're using iOS 4.0? This is so I can get the "iBooks" app, even though I have a 1st gen iPod touch.

Yes there is an jailbreak app for it I don't remember what it is though. You should also consider getting and the new iPod touch in September.

there shold be "fake 4.0" on cydia but idk if its there anymore. if you have ifile go to /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist and change the 3.1.2 or whatever you have to 4.0, should work although ive never tried it

I couldn't find "fake 4.0" on Cydia. I don't have iFile, and have no intention of paying 4 dollars for it, but thanks for the tip.

What free version? Whenever I search "iFile" on Cydia, all I find is the $4.00 version and a bunch of add-ons for it.

You can install the full version for free. It lets you try it for 10(?) days without charge before it doesn't work until you pay. Basically a free trial.

Well, sorry I took so long to tell you this, but... that didn't work. Not the free trial, but the whole "change the system version" thing.
