First of all Im not trying to grab attention Ive only posted a few times and Im just starting this up. Second, those sites are crap because some of them have the dumbest free apps you could think of, mine are worth downloading. Second, the forum name was changed by an admin and somehow everyone has started calling me free app man (maybe a name change coming). Third, if you don't like the idea of me helping some people out don't waste your posts by putting this down.

I will be posting every day and if you want QUALITY apps that have gone free visit and leave a comment of praise. If not, just don't read the post geez.

Please everyone who is bickering don't mess up this post. And to all of you wonderful future followers: thank you so much for your support. (By the way, give enough praise and you may end up with a PM from me giving you a free code for a popular app or some kind of iTunes gift card.

That is true. You can see a bit of our work that we did with Maxine Rickman by viewing "Clux Deluxe" in the AppStore. That is probably the best showcase of our work for now but we do have some better apps coming out in the future. I think what he is doing is good, and for those who are bitching and saying he got them straight off the website then ignore this thread and download every free game on those sites and you figure out which ones are worth keeping. Yes, I will post all games if you would like but then why would I be different from any other site? Lets take Dodgedot for example: would you ever allow that to be on your iPad or iPhone? Yet it was featured on many sites. I have played most of the free apps for today and in my opinion and in many others the ones I posted were among the top. If you want a good free app go get Cash Cab (which I would've posted if it had just gone free today). This looks like the thread will be very controversial and I hope the criticism dies down because its really looking like some people just want to mess with other people. If you post please be serious about it.

Some people would like Dodge Dot is the point. If you are only subjectively making choices based on YOUR opinions then it will miss the mark with probably 50% of the people.

To be honest I usually find out what is free for the day within 5 minutes in the morning via friends and the front page forum updates. I don't go on any of the websites listed and usually am able to snag a quality app every day for free. Both the games I mentioned I own and play - so had I not already had them I would have downloaded them. The games you listed though I had no interest in. So unless you broaden your recommendations and aren't so one track minded about it yeah the thread will be controversial.

Honestly asking people to be serious leads to more knuckleheaded comments and in most people's experience around here when someone comes along to do something like you are proposing to do it isn't without some ulterior motive.

All free app site have ton of crap because their process is complicate and is business, they have to contact or select developers, make an agreement and so on. So they try select only the good but often fail.

Now there are also the free app selections sites, there's more and more, they just pick and select among free of the day. Those have more choices and have a better average quality. But also they don't have that much time to make their selection. Also often they are late.

This thread is trying to do like the second category, with zero money constraints. But it's a lot of time to make a real selection, plus some comments, and not miss the major free app of the day.

Well let see today:

Nastyroids is very suspect. Easy to detect the game genre but is it really worth any selection? I doubt a lot but ok I haven't yet play it.
Disney and the word game are pointless stuff for me but easy to identify and could worth a selection, I just don't care.
Detonation! is one more app from a lazy dev that don't care support other os than os4.
That let for me, Aqua Globs, which worth the pick because it seems be less common and with some content.

Just my feeling of today selection.

Also did you tested Solitaire Siege and EZ Fighters (free today too)? I'm surprised they don't worth more than Nastyroids. No that I played any of the 3 unlike the Dracula in its HD version.

Everyone has there own opinions. Solitaire doesn't appeal to most people however there are a few that love it. So for those few thats great! Also, I stop looking for apps that go on sale for today after a while. Im set up and watching for tomorrow by this time so if it wasn't free this morning it doesn't make the slim cut. My 2 cents, concentrate on evaluating deeply enough as many free game than possible and write clear short comments about each. Don't put on your shoulders more work. Making a good video is a huge amount of effort and time.

I have one suggestion for you but don't see how you could manage it financially, make a similar sales selection. :D

Everyone has there own opinions. Solitaire doesn't appeal to most people however there are a few that love it. So for those few thats great! Also, I stop looking for apps that go on sale for today after a while. Im set up and watching for tomorrow by this time so if it wasn't free this morning it doesn't make the slim cut. Keep watching and maybe you will find an app you love for FREE!

That is why you have to broaden your recommendations to more than just what you like. Several people agreed with Quell and Solitaire Siege yet you do not enjoy those kinds of games. People will watch this thread in the beginning sure but when they realized you are choosing 4 or 5 of YOUR favorites and no more than that they will return to the methods they used before you came to us with your generosity.

People really like Solitaire, especially on the iDevices. Especially since that might not be a game many people want to pay for (though I did) and so would be HAPPY it is free because it is something they wanted all along.

(oh but wait, that is what the wish list feature in appshopper is for)

Pretty funny actually since I am the one that is suggesting how to make improvements on your services but you see them as criticisms; but the real criticisms come not only blatantly but as sarcasm. But again, whatever, you are always right - I actually came to see what people were saying about the free games today, had an idea (still) that you should expand your list, noticed someone else mentioned a game I mentioned and commented. You say to keep the negativity out of the thread - but it is you that are being negative to me. I wasn't being negative I was making a suggestion but you are looking at anything other than "wow you are awesome" as an insult.

My comment about appshopper wish list was pretty much to point out that if someone is waiting for a free game they can get notified of the price drop by that service and it wouldn't matter if you included it on the list or not.

At first I was skeptical because there are a few apps out there just like it with the old top-down airplane shooter game. I actually found the controls pretty responsive and the graphics top notch for a free game! It does get old but its not a game meant to be played for hours a day, just a pick-me-up game ready to play at any time.

iv come to the conclusion there is zero reason to pirate apps. i have so many good free ones i literally could never spend a dime.. When have I said that? I dont take credit Im just giving people an easier way to find free downloads that are worth the effort. Thats why there are only 3 apps today and not 50, because, quite frankly the others weren't worth the download even if they were free. I at least give them a try before posting.

Hey, anyone who has the time and patience to wade through all the free stuff to put up a few things that are good- has my vote.

My only suggestion would be to actually list all the stuff that you looked at that day. I realize that could be a total pain, and likely NOT worth the time - but as I am looking and I see something that could be OK - I wonder to myself - Hmmmm... I wonder if Quantum looked at that one, or if he did not either see it, or try it....

But, congrats on the front page, and keep up your efforts. A lot of us probably appreciate it a lot.

Yesterday selection was rather good (iFighter 1945, Stone Wars, Antrim Escape, but also Arena Arcade was worthy) your only big mistake I quoted retroactively are:

Not have select Dracula The Path of the Dragon Part 3, it was still free and is still free today and you repeat this mistake today. If you don't like the game that's very weird but ok fine, if it's just because you feel to not have discover it yourself or at start date of the free sale, well it makes no sense.
Hot Reversi HD: Good Reversi full game, but I suppose you don't have an iPad.
Hexius: A worthy action puzzle with a good challenge mode.


For today I don't know but I feel very weird in the one day approach you choose that there's today free and not in your today highlight:

As you don't contact the dev directly and don't really know the free period, it doesn't make much sense to remove from a selection a very worthy game if it's still free.

Perhaps you need a tool to easy check but if a game stop be free and still in your selection there's no need to bother, you'll just change at your next update. Eventually you'll manual manage those that became free forever after some days selected, anyway it's rare. My 2 cents, could be a good or a bad idea.

EDIT: Edited to add Tesla Wars HD, which is a bit a casual game but one more quite worthy and free today, and most will probably be free for all the WE.

My post wasn't about complaining it is missing this game or this game, but more some easy retroactive comment about the quality of a past selection.

Yeah I easily understand time, taste and colors, so your selection can't be the best for me, just wanted comment a bit more deeply than just encourage.

I was letting people know that an app that was posted as being free today in a recent post was no longer free. Some of us actually read much or all of the threads, rather than just the last one or 2... :cool:

If you had the power of sharing with us free apps BEFORE they go on sale and beat out AppShopper, then this would be useful. @ Tilt - I think that AppShopper goes by # of downloads, and popular is by no means a determiner of quality. Some of the free games that never make the front page of AppShopper are far better than some that do. So, although I see your point, I think that having someone that is willing to wade through and give their opinion is actually pretty valuable, especially as Quantum seems to be pretty reasonable, and so far I have agreed with his assessments. For me, it is one more "tool" to help me wade through the swamp that is the app store...

Have you considered, perhaps instead of just straight copy and pasting app info from the app description, incorporate them into a small summary of your own? Well for me it's a false good game, I'd say one more and nothing very noteworthy. But that's all the problem of free app, where put the selection limits. There's also two point of view, when you pay for games and when you almost never pay. I suppose that for fans of physics puzzles it's a good pick. There's also the HD version free.

Apart Earth Defender the only I felt really worthy among the new free I tried are Super Juicy and Jugen.

Jugen is only a relaxing game with no real challenge and just requiring a bit of caution and concentration. Found it cool and pleasant but I bet many players won't agree and will just find it boring.

Super Juicy is a very polished game in any area from graphics to design and controls. It starts from an idea less common than usual, match 3 (aka "ho no one more") but mixed it with a reflex tap game. To put more depth, it adds bonuses, bombs, bubbles that grow, spikes, levels bonus and more and I'm sure I'm far to have seen all yet. There's also a campaign mode with levels designed and you can even select the difficulty.

The idea is good, the realization is impressive, but the game is "only" fun, could be just me, really worth a selection anyway. Strangely I found Hexius more fun despite Super Juicy has more depth and diversity in its gameplay. Well I suppose the design effort in Super Juicy will pay in the long run. And anyway it's a casual game with a lot more design than usual casual games and one to try to see if it matches you taste.

EDIT: I think I know why I found Hexius more fun than Super Juicy, it's because I found more strategy in Hexius when I felt Super Juicy more a tap reflex game with a lot of diversity.

Yeah, I agree with previous users. Just make a simple written summary. And as Osujxu said, a 5 star ranking system would be super nice as well. With this, you're combining AppShopper and AppSpy together (depending on the quality of your reviews :p), and that'll definitely attract me here more often.

Don't know, but I would not make it hard on yourself - just put 4/5 or 3/5 or 2.5/5 people will know what you are talking about and it is easy to read...

in addition to the ranking system how about putting your highest ranked apps at the top and the lowest ranke will be at the bottom of the post.

I do them as I go but that will work because I can just copy and paste them into order afterwards. Also, keep in mind that they may have a higher ranking but only because of a certain element like graphics or gameplay so dont reply completely on my final evaluation.
