iMAME4all is a iOS universal free app for jailbroken devices done by David Valdeita (Seleuco), port of MAME 0.37b5 emulator by Nicola Salmoria for all iOS devices (iPad HD, iPhone 4G, 3GS, 3G , iPod touch...) and it is based on GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5 by Franxis.
It emulates arcade games supported by original MAME 0.37b5 plus some additional games from newer MAME versions.
This version emulates over 2000 different romsets.
Please, try to understand that that with that amount of games, some will run better than others and some might not even run with iMAME4all. Please, don´t email me asking for a specific game to run.
Although the performance is very good with modern devices (all games I tested on iPad run practically perfect), owners of older devices should not expect a good performance; please turn off sound because that's very helpful.

After installing, place your MAME-titled zipped roms in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all/roms folder.
Please use "clrmame.dat" file included in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all to convert romsets from other MAME versions to the ones used by this version, using ClrMAME Pro utility, available in next webpage:

There I was just getting into bed when I saw this little gem pop up in the jailbreaking thread, needless to say it's now 2:30am and I'm very tired but extremely happy cause I have this on both my iPad and iPhone 4! Have only tested a few roms on both versions but can report back that it is better than I ever hoped for, the controls are so responsive the sound is glitch free and all the games I've tested run full speed!
Will have a play round with it over the weekend and report back with any findings, must say I've never used a deb file before seeing this one up for download but I couldn't wait for cydia to actually release it! Anyone who's familiar with ssh will easily be able to install this (I used the autoinstall method and it worked first time on both iPad and iPhone) anyway I must sleep as I have work in the morning... Once again a huge thankyou to seleuco for the work that went into this, it's been more than worth the wait!

I installed it to try Joust. Although the ROM seems to load okay, I cannot get the game to run.

I must say top marks for your work on this, runs well better on my 3gs than zodtts's mame4iphone.
2 feature suggestions for the next update, the option to turn on 3 and 4 buttons, you have the option to use 4 buttons, but some games only need the 3 buttons so the extra putton just takes up screen space.
Also, i know your aware of it, but look into the problem with the screen size being too big on all midway games like smash tv and rampage.
Great job, any plans for any other emulators in the future? Your own versions of nes and snes?

I made iMAME4all because I wanted to play with it, and there was nothing available....
I guess they are good NES emulators but I have not tried

You have figured out how to implement them properly into your emulator, where as zodtts landscape controlls are too big on the screen, so when you try to play in landscape mode your fingers and thumbs cover the playing area.
Also, i find your mame controlls more responsive too, plus the sound is way better.
So, i'm sure you could figure out a way to port snes and nes, making the sound and controlls better like you have done in imame.

Agreed on all of the above. I've been waiting for an SNES update for ever - and that's a PAID app. When using the wiimote, the oversized virtual control pad remains on screen in landscape mode which is pretty annoying. If you're using a wiimote, then it should automatically shut that obstruction down.
Looking forward to getting iMAME4all running tonight.

The .deb file has to be sent to your phone via SSH, there seems to be a few ways of doing it but I chose to go the AutoInstall route...
SSH into your phone and navigate to Var/root/media, create a folder called Cydia inside the media folder then inside that create another folder called AutoInstall
place the .deb file inside the AutoInstall folder, reboot your device (hold the power button and home key till it resets and the app should appear on one of the pages on your phone/ipad) this is the first time ive used any .deb files and this is the way it worked for me, I did read you may need to respring your device too but this wasnt required when I done it, another thing to note is that when you create the folders mentioned above you have to type them exactly as I have as the folder names are case sensitive.
If your'e unsure about using this method I have seen that iMame4all is now available for download via Cydia anyway so you can just get it from there.

Wiimote support too? this is excellent news! I know I asked for it right from the start but I have to say that the control scheme you have implemented is absolutely brilliant anyway, i've never used such a responsive touch screen dpad in my life, the 3 button layout mentioned by StoksyXL is a great idea too.

if you are getting to the screen that says "factory settings restored" and it just sits there, try resetting the rom... if you remember on mame4iphone, if you held the start and select buttons at the same time, it gave you an options list and then what you would do is scroll down to "reset game" and it would go back to this "settings restored" screen but it would then load the high score screen at which point you could "insert coins" and play!
does this mame4all have this reset option or any dip switch customization?

I think ZodTTD is a very talented man... iMAME4all has not been possible without his work cos i examine his code when I started working with my other emulator iXpectrum...
That said, we are very different. He prefers to release a large number of emulators (which is good) but I am a perfectionist and I prefer to lock in a few things but feel I've done a good job...
Once i finished with iMAME4all i would like to put all these improvements on iXpectrum....
Also i have another emulator Xpectroid on android market that i I have a little left....
But do not rule in a timely mess with another emulator if I see a good response with iMAME4all

Hey Seleuco - wanted to thank you. Installed on my iPad this eve...transferred over a vast amount of roms. Just about everything I threw at it worked, and worked REAL well! I've been a MAME fan since it started many moons ago. When I got my iPad, this was something I had on my mind: emulation...the the perfect device for it. I can't wait for the wiimote support, and I just had request: Perhaps sometime in the future, there can be controls skinning? Would be great to have a top view of a traditional coin-op stick (red ball) and those bright colored buttons. Another skin could be a track ball...etc.. Just a thought. I'm so appreciative for what you've done already.

ok am i missing something? oh my god could this thing be anymore complicated to install?
i download it.. no one tells me how to install it.. so i do 20 minutes of reearch to find out what to do with a Deb file.
then it turns out i need programs to run the deb file.. so another 20 minutes of research.
cant install the programs because i dont have AFC2 installed.
20 minutes later..still trying to figure out how to install AFC2.
spirit doesnt work.. cant use Iphuc.. cant use erica's utiltiies..this is by far the hardest thing ive ever had to install.
i feel ridiculously stupid for not being able to figure this out.

alright time for confusion round 2.. i have like 500 roms on my Ipad. only about 20 of them work. appernatly i have to "update them"
is that an easy task? no.. no its not.
cant figure it out either. i downloaded clrmamepro and its nothing but cryptic and hidden information :( i will litterally pay 45 cents to someone who can write a step by step " do this this, download this, put this here. click this. done" tutorial.

That was a mistake from iXpectrum code... i will remove paypal page in next version... not needed really for iMAME4all... download iXpectrum instead

This is a known bug... im working on it....

Installed it fine but when ever i put games (*.zip)into the ROMs/imame4all/roms they dont appear on the list once i run the emulator.

case of iMAME4all (vs imame4all)? You sure it's in the mobile/Media folder and not root/Media?

I have tested Berzerk, Donkey Kong and Galaga. Samples are needed for every sound in Berzerk and for an explosion noise when you die in Galaga.

Ok, I'm seriously extremely lost here. I'm very inept when it comes to this stuff but recently downloaded Mame on my Mac so I could play Donkey Kong, and now I want to bring that to my iPhone... I registered because I have no idea what I'm doing...
So, I downloaded that DK ROM for my Mac... and I want to transfer that folder to my roms folder on my iPhone. How do I use the "clrmame.dat" file and "ClrMAME Pro utility" to convert this ROM into iPhone format, so I can place it in the roms folder? That is what I have to do, right?
Please walk me through this in an idiot-proof step-by-step process.
Sorry if I'm way below your guys' level when it comes to this.

Wiimote is great news. It will be so great to use hardware keys on the iPad's beautiful screen.
One other thing. I don't think high scores are working either. Little text files should appear in the 'hi' directory when you quit a game so it remembers your high score. This feature is well supported on older games like Asteroids, Donkey Kong and Pac-Man and works well on MAME4ALL on GP2X.
Any chance of looking into this too? Thanks again!

ok, now i have a problem with sound. sound was working fine (though like all mame games didn't sound perfect). but then i installed several sound samples in the samples folder from the link you provided (openhandhelds). Then sounds went away for all games entirely!
I tried force quitting the app, tried changing permissions on samples folder from 755 to 777 and uploading from mobile account so owner was mobile rather than root. then tried deleting the samples. nothing so far brought back the sound. (and yes ringer vol up all the way and mute is off.)
edit: ok, one thing I didn't try was rebooting the damn phone. that fixed the sound. odd?
however, i can't tell that it made any difference in the sound for donkey kong anyway, with the samples in place.

Any chance you could upload the .deb file with wiimote support? Or is it still in an unfinished state? As fantastic as your controls are I love being able to see the whole screen when playing games and landscape mode on iPad with wiimote support will make this the best emulator ever!
Oh one last thing... Any chance you could give us the option to make the controls totally dissapear when the Wiimote is in use? No point in having on screen furniture when there is no use for it!

You've surpassed my expectations yet again Seleuco! have now tested about20 roms and all work flawlessly with the Wiimote! Im not sure what exactly you can do to improve this emulator now as with an iPad and a Wiimote you basically have your own portable arcade machine!
One suggestion would be to map the A button of your emulator to one of the Wiimote buttons in place of either L or R as a lot of the old roms use 3 buttons and the third button on your Wiimote mapping is not catered for, this makes say using your magic in Shinobi an impossibility or using punch in double dragon not an option.
Once again though an outstanding effort on your part for which I am very grateful.

It's not that your'e invisible it's just that talking about Roms and generally asking for them is frowned upon in this and most other forums, people here are generally friendly and helpful but when a person such as yourself enters the forum with a first post asking for something illegal people are less likely to help.

what he said... and if you find solutions, post them. if you don't keep good info to yourself, you'll tend to get more help either on or off the board. as it happens i for one read your post about neogeo but don't use those roms so didn't have a solution for you.

Just tested the portrait mode and it doesn't hide the controls, portrait mode is windowed anyway so there would be no point in leaving a huge empty space under the screen.
Have just tried the wiimote out using this on my iPhone 4 too and again it works brilliantly, kinda weird using a wiimote to control my phone but exceptionally cool at the same time!

You've surpassed my expectations yet again Seleuco! have now tested about20 roms and all work flawlessly with the Wiimote! Im not sure what exactly you can do to improve this emulator now as with an iPad and a Wiimote you basically have your own portable arcade machine!
One suggestion would be to map the A button of your emulator to one of the Wiimote buttons in place of either L or R as a lot of the old roms use 3 buttons and the third button on your Wiimote mapping is not catered for, this makes say using your magic in Shinobi an impossibility or using punch in double dragon not an option.
Once again though an outstanding effort on your part for which I am very grateful.

When i fix crops bugs... landscape with aspect ratio options (rotate, tate) should let play all games on landscape...only you need to lock rotation on iPad...

I'm little confused. Imame4 seems to run, but selecting a rom (zip). It tries to load but errors out. Do I need to convert the zips to another format ? Or do I extract the zips and then convert ? Or what ? Any help would be appreciated.

You need ROMS for MAME 0.37b5. You can find the ones you own or convert newer ones -- but the conversion tools really blow. Good luck.

I'm having a little difficulty here. I keep trying to put the roms in the correct roms folder, and they go in successfully, but then I check the app and it says no roms found. Idk what I'm doing wrong. I have a good amount of experience with other emulators and have like 3 other perfectly working ones on my phone but idk what's going on with this one. If someone could possibly create a step by step, I could see if I was missing one that would prevent the roms from being playable. Thanks to anyone who attempts this.

Rotating the screen works well with games that get cropped. Would be good if virtual controls rotated also.

This emulator really is something amazing, I never thought i'd be playing Sunset Riders on an iPad. All of my early 90's favorites run great on the iPad and extremely well on the 3GS yet I'm having a hell of a time getting some of thte earlier games to run. I've tried marging and converting two different rom sets and files are still missing. If I can't get Moon Patrol working I'll be heartbroken... or just go back to playing turtles in time. :p. Really amazing work, this is why I love the jailbreak community.

Sorry.... MAME037b5 not support savesates... It is not posible since is a multiarcade emulator and it needs to be supported by MAME itself.
MAME037b5 is really an optimized versión... it is not a good idea to update the version...

They work good for Streetfighter 2 and Mortal Kombat but obviously not perfect, other than that I would prefer to see the 3 and 4 button layout so we can play all the classics that mainly use 3 buttons (attack, jump and special) like Eswat, Shinobi, double Dragon, Golden Axe etc etc...

Ok, I figured out my problem from before. I've put in a few games, but only gotten one to work, metal slug 2. A few others had missing files (not your fault) but I couldn't get mortal kombat 2 or 3 to work. They would load up and then quit to the home screen. Is this due to the whole "too big for the screen" issue?

Ok so I've been playing more and more games, and a lot of them seem to work great (if the roms have all the right files). Never in a million years did I think that I would be sitting on an airplane, downloading roms using the inflight wifi, and then playing them right on my iPhone. It's just amazing. Thank you Seleuco for this awesome app. It's so great being able to play the Simpsons arcade game and Street Fighter 2 on my phone with awesome controls, And the ability to use a wiimote.
I was thinking that we iMame4all Toucharcaders could create a social group for the app and report there with our findings on which games work and which games don't. We could all contribute and we would all benefit. So if anyones interested in this, I could create the group or someone else could.

Did anyone get Moon Patrol to work? I cant tell if I have bad roms or if some games are just not supported. Is there a specific error to look out for for unsupported games vs bad roms? I seem to get missing files errors a lot, but I used that dat file on a pc to rebuild roms. I guess I thought that would weed out the bad files.

Depending on how popular Wiis are in your area, it's possible that you could borrow a classic controller from someone else (or get enough donations to get one). PS3 controller support would be great too, but I think that, if it is possible, multiple Wiimotes for multiplayer is more important.

Yeah I think left/right would work fine to scroll by 'page'.
I guess it could be confusing for a newbie in the first 30 secs but hey, they got this far :D

No configs by now...
To access individual button config:
1. Start the game you want to change
2. Pause it (optional) by pressing A+B on Wiimote (L+R on touch screen)
3. Press + and - on Wiimote simultaneously (1+2 if using touch screen)
4. The MAME Menu will popup giving new choices such as button configuration.
It seems to remember the buttons you choose even after rebooting device. You can also change global button configs but I haven't tried this yet.

I think I found a bug. Using portrait mode in say, Donkey Kong, (TATE video setting, which looks spectacular by the way) means it also rotates the input from the Wii controller 90 degrees clockwise. Should be able to remap the button settings as a workaround but I didn't try that yet. Actually I just read the wiki and this is a feature not a bug :D nevermind.

Yes it's a feature. TATE mode rotates screen and controls (best for virtual dpad), 'Rotate' rotates screen only (best for Wiimote).
Donkey Kong is a good game for testing this feature. TATE mode makes the virtual dpad useable in full screen as the directions are correct. Only problem is that the buttons are up the top of the screen and that the dpad is on the right hand side.
It would be great if TATE mode moved the virtual controls to the right location. There are quite a few old games that use this tall, narrow resolution. If this is too hard to implement, there could be a manual option to shift the virtual dpad.

There is a problen inside a game called Truxton. There are no sprites on the game and this is only with the Truxton I. The Truxton II works fine. Also it is a good idea the classic controler on the wiimote makes things easier.

I just thought that the reason why "Amor Attack" and "Solar Quest" are not working could be due to faulty artwork, but I guess that is not the case then.

I am getting the same thing, on every game it says the parts of the roms are missing, but they are actually inside the .zip archive. I also get an error that says the file system may be corrupt. If anyone has a help/fix clue, I'd be most happy to hear. Thanks !
Almost idiot-proof tutorial of converting a Rom (Moon Patrol - romeodelta asked for it) to iMame4all
You need
Windows:
Install clrmamepro and Total Commander, WinSCP
iDevice: install openSSH via Cydia to connect with WinSCP
Run WinSCP and connect to your iPod/Pad
(to get your IP tab Settings ->Wi-Fi->your Network)
login as root / pw is alpine
copy clrmame.dat from /private/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all
to c:\Program Files\clrmamepro\datfiles\
Run clrmamepro as Admin
add File
create dir-> iMame4all
check NEW DATFILES above Profiles
double klick on that datfile (MAME4ALLROMs Datfile)
choose create default settings
window closes and scans datfile
click on settings and setup rom and sample path
Save as default/ close window
download mpatrol.zip for mame from romnation and transfer it to your iDevice (/private/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all/roms)
start mame4all and load the rom:
you´ll see an error: File 2a not found
you´ll see also files that have been loaded (don´t quit mame4all)
run Total Commander
go to c:\Program Files\clrmamepro\datfiles\ and right click on clrmame.dat; press F4
the text editor opens; search (Strg+F) for mpatrol.zip
copy mpatrol.zip from your Dl Folder to spec. rompath of clrmamepro
select mpatrol.zip in your rompath and double click on it.
compare the zipped content with clrmame.dat in the editor
confusing isn´t it?
now look at the 3 last files that have been loaded on your iPod:
1m,1clj (size 32) and 2hx with size 256.
the missing File 2a is the same size (256)!
and there are only 2 files of this size in the clrmame.dat.
in Total Commander you see 2 interesting files:
mpc-4.2a but with wrong size of 512 and mpc-2.2h with matching size 256.
rename the last file to 2a since this one isn´t used by imame4all it should be a good guess.
go one dir up to close the zip file and switch to clrmamepro.
click on scanner. mark all options in the left/bottom section named <check fix>
Press new scan. Now a window pops up:
Set: mpatrol
Name: mpatrol
File: C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\MameRoms_Action\mpatrol.zi p
Do you want to rename the following wrong named ROMs?
2a -> 2hx (!!!!)

Watch the first line. 2hx is already there. So don´t rename, keep it all and press NO. Next popup:

To keep it less confusing I recommend to press "No". If all goes well you can rescan and remove it later.

After scan is completed copy the file to a save place. Transfer it to /private/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all/roms
on your iPod and restart imame4all, load the game and play.
If the rom crashes delete it immediatly from your clrmamepro work Dir (here C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\MameRoms_Action\mpatrol.zi p) to keep things in order and less confusing. Copy the original file again to that Dir and start again.
It´s a trial and error search. You need the clrmame.dat to figure out what files and sizes are essential.
Total Commander is handy; you can explore, rename or delete files in zipped archives and copy them right away.
clrmamepro is essential for rebuilding the packs with correct checksums.
In fact clrmamepro was the hardest part to master.That drove me mad.
I hope this little tutorial may help you.
I converted 4 Roms so far: Moon Patrol, Galaga88, Donkey Kong and DigDug.

Many thanks for your brilliant work in bringing this to the iPad, I really appreciate it! I would love a full-screen mode too - landscape and portrait - with the ability to move the controls around on the screen so that they're out of the playing area.
The other thing is how the vector games look - is there any way of changing the way they're rendered so that they scale up and down more smoothly?

I guess they are good NES emulators but I have not tried
How are the NES emulators compared with imame4all?
They are OK, but still have bad performance on 1st gen devices, even the NES ones have really bad sound, if you could make an SNES or NES emulator that would be awesome, i also like your GUI interface.

Yeah, something like Parallels or Macindows is needed to run ClrMame Pro or RomCenter on an Intel Mac. I use Parallels and it works perfectly. I just wish CLRMame would actually FIX my roms. I always thought that was what is was for.

Holy crap - just got around to DLing the latest version. Loving the hi scores and wiimote support; what I wasn't expecting so fast was full screen portrait mode using rotate. Older games look absolutely stunning now, in the shape they're meant to be played. This is like buying one of those arcade monitors... except you can put it in your back pack.

Would it be possible to make an option for a swipe-style joystick as an alternative to the dpad? for those with big thumbs it's pretty hard to use the dpad sometimes. in otherwords instead of presses it would register movements in the intended direction. for a good example, see the iPhone app Q*Bert Deluxe or Ms. Pac-Man. Probably some others like that too.

Those are really big roms - you probably want to try romnation or romworld and use Yamo's guide. The games in this rom pack are pretty much all pre-1990.

Yeah, I have MK 1-3 and UMK 3 and only the first MK works. I was wondering if it was a rom problem but I guess not since they all load up and then quit to the home screen.

I adapted controls to my needs. iPad, iPhone have diferents schema controls.... with a little hack you can adapt to your needs...
first enable debug controls... you should change 0//drawcoords to 1 on config_iPad.txt on iMAME4all folder sited on /Applications/iMAME4all.app
checkout then controller_landscape_iPad.txt

you must also change dpad touch zones:

I think it doesn't work well... i tried on iXpectrum.. but swipe-type joy is more like analog joy...good 4 3d shotters...
It is better a dpad 4 classics...

Fantastic news! Can't believe the pace at which this emulator is progressing, shame about the Mortal Kombat issues as MK2 was a favourite, can't have everything though I suppose and like you say, there's over 2000 games to choose from!

I noticed that when turning the iPad on its side, the buttons go from a diamond shape layout (like a real GP2X) to a square layout. I find the diamond layout better as I can move my thumb between 'B' and 'X' more easily. These are the two most used buttons.
Another thing is the distance of the dpad and buttons from the bottom of the screen. In portrait mode they are about perfect, but when turning iPad on its side, they move a bit too low to the bottom for optimum comfort.

Thank you for such a good emu on our IPhones.. As future updates i would like to propose to Seleuco some points:
1) In landscape mode i think the d-pad (on the lower left) should be a little bigger so as the games to be more playable
2) In landscape again only 2 buttons (out of 4) are vissible..
3) Is it possible to have more d-pad and button skins? This would be awsome..
Of course imame4all's version is still new so i beleive many conflicts (sound ''chopping'' - many games won't play) could be solved:) I am going to donate..Good effort guys !!

Yeah I got it working, it does hang after loading in so you have to reset the rom (press start and credit button together to open mame options and reset it through that) most of the sound (speech and music) is missing, maybe in samples but I tried it before the update was out plus it's also one that suffers from the screen cropping bug but looks like seleuco has fixed that for this weekends release!

Great idea! And there is already artwork for each game that is used for Mame Front-ends on desktops. I wish I could help contribute but my Objective-C knowledge is pretty basic at this point. Maybe writing a separate front-end app would be easier? Seleuco, would iMame4All be able to be run from another iPhone/iPad app?

no it´s all build from the scratch.. wasn´t too much work. did the cabinet yesterday and sprayed it.. bought the glass today and printed the artwork... no more hardware inside needed.. just the wiimote and the iphone.
i am thinking to build another one a bit bigger for the ipad with real arcade controls.

i´ve seen alot of private arcade projects on the net and i think the one i built yesterday in double size with real arcade controls and ipad would be perfect.

Would LOVE that happening... on the PC I use GlovePie which has scripts for various wiimote control methods (driving, classic controller, etc.). I've been using the wiimote as a light gun for all the Mame light gun games, but you need an IR and another program to emulate a PC joystick.

Hi, I tried to do this and set 777 recursive on the iMAME4ALL.app folder which set everything in the directory to 777 and still cannot save preferences. Is the correct folder /private/var/stash/Applications/iMAME4all.app?
It's been a LONG time since I JB and yes, I did try google.
*EDIT* I think instead of doing the CHMOD 777 on the iMAME4ALL.app folder, it needs to be on the iMAME4ALL folder under /var/mobile/Media/ROMS. I did it here and it works great now! :)

does anybody knows a way how to connect real arcade controls to the ipad beside breaking and soldering a wiimote to the controls ? maybe there is a way to use the camera connection kit ?
in other pc hardware arcade projects i was always using the cheapest usb joystick, opened it and used the hardware of it.
there´s a arcade joystick where you can switch the stick from 4 to 8 ways.

Also, just an FYI about Wiimotes
Real Nintendo branded Wiimotes work best, this includes the new Black versions (which look nice next to an iphone or ipad). I have tried 3 other models by Nyko, and all experienced issues with losing connection, or just plain not connecting. I started with a Nyko mini black controller, it has perfect portability, however pressing the Home button on the ipad would constantly drop connection -- which I could live with -- but on the flip side, it just wouldn't connect to the iphone. Same story with the other 2 unfortunately.

Thanks. I think you're hallucinating. It's exactly to spec (114x114 for retina, 57x57 for normal). some icons may not use all the space though so may be smaller by a pixel or so.

2/Added 4 new Video Aspect modes:
-Original: Scaled original game driver resolution.
-No Keep Ratio: Scaled original game driver resolution with no keep aspect ratio.
-With Cropping: Scaled original game driver resolution with cropping.
-Fixed 320x240: Scaled nominal emulated video resolution at fixed 320x240.
NOTE:If "Not Safe Render Path" is activated, only fixed 320x240 is available.
3/Vector games now works at 640x480 emulated resolution.

Don't know if anyone else is getting this, but my game is resetting when I hit B and u can no longer bring up the in-game menu for dipswitches(by pressing 1&2) I too cannot see a way to remap the 4 buttons. Otherwise everything is working great! Awesome job and congrats to your twins! I myself am a new dad as well.
Thank you so much for this new version. It is working fantastic on my Iphone 4. I am especially pleased by the new mode "No Keep Ratio". This mode makes it much more pleasent to play all the games on the relative small Iphone screen.

1) Game sound has a slight buzzing noise, I noticed this on the previous version and the new version, both on i4 and ipad. No big deal, game works, good enough for me :)
2) Rotation: On & TATE, game sprites disappear, or move off screen. In Punchout, you will notice when the opponent is introduced, he walks off the screen to the right and disappears when he gets hit in the body. Disable Rotation On or TATE and play in normal or landscape, and sprite problem is solved, he moves to the center of the screen when introduced and doesnt disappear. Hope its possible to fix this, as this game uses 2 monitors so playing in portrait mode full screen is very helpful.
Other than that, Punchout is fully playable, and with the Wiimote, I've got all I could ask for :)

You should. I put 11 khz default 4 3g only... do you think it is necesary on 3gs also?

Amazing stuff again Seleuco, every game I've tried now is catered for with one of your new screen modes, new wiimote mapping is spot on as well as games like Narc are playable now crouch has been enabled on the wiimotes B button.
I'm not sure what your plans are for this emulator now as it seems pretty much complete.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you again for your efforts with this project as you have made a lot of people very happy and given us what is in my opinion the best emulator on the scene.

But the new V1.2 has some serious problems on my iPhone 3G 3.1.3:
- With "no save render path", all vector games crash at startup.
- With "no save render path", the raster games sometimes have strange effects: Sometimes, you cannot change something in the start menu, cause the game starts before you can change something.
- All the new and beautiful Video aspect modes want "save render path" and so they are much slower on my iPhone 3G. Seleuco, please keep the "no save render path"-modes working. We 3G-users need it for a little bit of speed.
- Vector games are MUCH slower now even with "fixed 320x240". I cannot even play Asteroids now. Also, the vectors are too thin. The old vector rendering method reallyworked better.
- A little idea: Maybe you should integrate the "save render path" switch into the startup menu. The menu maybe could look like this: 320x240 no save render (fast!) - 320x240 save render - keep original ratio - full screen - with cropping.
By the way: Do we really need the "with cropping"-mode?
For the moment, i have to go back to V1.1. :-(

K - must have had to been user-error. I must have somehow globally remapped the "B" button somehow. I deleted everything except the roms and did a fresh install. Works great! Championship sprints works perfect. I can finally find use for the dusty Wii-motes. Now if BTstack would support more than one wiimote I would wow everyone in the world with this portable arcade miracle!

This is the emulated CPU speed... more speed... more cpu power emulated... but needs more iPhone power... is like overclocking/downclocking Arcade machine

I will fix vector crashing.... It is related to 640x480 work mode... 4 not safe render path i will fix at 320x240 so it will not cash and performance it will going back...
It is a pity... but 4 not safe render path... i cant support new aspect views modes... this is related to dinamic arbitrary resolution switch not supported well using private apple apis (crash a lot)... i was thinking on remove at all it becouse it is a headache support that mode... but i think later, that it is better to stay with it however is more limited than safe render... my apologies 3g users... the problem is apple here...
I will play with beam in vector games at 640x480 so it will be a liitle more bigger the beam....
"with cropping "mode works well for this games that only a little screen is not draw... you not need to set not aspect ratio and distort the image....
"not safe render path" it is a global emulator setting since it is not supported by iPhone4... iPad... i think Apple could broke it when they want it

default romlist doesnt include "Super Slams" so i tried to put rom name, file size, crc to clrmame.dat and gamelist.txt.
but imame4all cant find superslam.zip either.
how can i put superslam to imame4all's romlist and play it?
cant i play the game if its not on default gamelist.txt?

Thx Seleuco for this wonderful emulator. Playing Mortal Kombat on the Iphone 4 is just too good to be true.
Just a quick question about mapping. It's not that easy to configure the buttons for games with the ingame menu.
One thing I noticed about Mortal Kombat is that when going to the settings for the game there are only three buttons to configure, while the general settings have 6.
Assigning the 6 buttons is not that easy either because after hitting B to set the button a whole range of buttons is already assigned to a specific button.
And while MK should have 5 buttons to play, it would be nice to have at least the four buttons assigned to HP LP HK en LK.
Anyone able to run MK2 en MK3 btw? They are in the capatible list but MK2 just resets the emulator en MK3 gived an error not supported.

I also tried to overclock my iPhone 3G for a faster Mame, but it was totally useless, I had the same framerates as before, so I went back to normal. So, we 3G users are a bit left out in the rain..... :-((((((

Vector crashes and keystroke problems are fixed in V1.2 final (downloaded from Cydia). Great!
Btw. Bodo and everybody: Space Invaders has correct colors now. :-)
One thing I think is very funny:
Framerate with wiimote is much higher than when you use touch controls:
Crazy Kong on my iPhone3G (during play, no save rendering, smooth, fullscreen): 58-60fps with wiimote, 30-40fps with touch controls.
How comes?
I think i'll build a little Arcade cabinet for iPhone and wiimote like Bodo did. :-)

What do you think about the Wii Classic controller ? I´ve got mine for my birthday today and really like it. It would be the perfect controller for imame.

i Plan to support only Wii Classic dpad,,, it has nosense analog controls since mame4all version it is working with digital input...
I think it is more interesting support 4 wiimotes or classics...

If you could at least let us map the stick directions to digital buttons we could use them for dual stick games like Robotron for example.
Ive had no trouble mapping buttons through the Mame options screen (I just use the "input for this game" option).

Thats great but I would guess that you have not been able to map any buttons to the sticks on the Classic Controller.

Well I've not got my classic controller yet as I only ordered it yesterday so you are correct! Hopfully though it'll be the same process as mapping buttons though?
Great news - I hope at some point the analog sticks on the classic will be mappable . I think a lot of people in the mame community use them over over the dpad, and use the dpad as extra buttons. The analog sticks are so much more comfortable to move around with. Either way, you create the magic., so I'm grateful for what we've gotten.

Well hopefully it will be an easy process and he'll consider it, if not at least we'll have support for a fantastic controller with enough buttons to cater for any game :)

This emu is pretty great! The only problem with it is that using it with a Wii Remote, what do I do with my iPhone? I need a stand for it now. :)
Is there a version of Donkey Kong that works with this emu? There's a lot of games I've tried that show stuff missing, such as Donkey Kong.

you just need the right roms for it.. donkey kong works perfect.

i'll try to map digital buttons A/B/X/Y to one stick ¿Left or right stick?.... other stick U/D/L/R, DPAD U/D/L/R.. that way it would be possible remap in MAME menu wiiclassic sticks

My vote would be for you to map the buttons to the right stick as the left side of a control pad is always for movement rather than actions, I presume that you would leave the A/B/X/Y buttons mapped to the regular buttons at the same time as the right stick similar to how you described the up down left right of the dpad and left stick as this would be the best option I feel.
