Apparently This Kid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix5gEKly6fQ&feature=related) jail-broke his iPod Touch 2G. There are some similar videos, and I was wondering if it worked? I've been itching to jailbreak for a while and if this really works, that would be awesome. I don't want to have the tethered version, and if this was real, it would be an untethered version and everything...Does anyone have any feedback or anything on this process, Or has anyone completed this with success? Thanks in advance guys!

I don't think anyone should trust something not done by the dev team...
...you might be thinking, "what's the worst that could happen?", well, you could download a trojan, and have your identity, passwords, and credit card number taken.

That's what I was thinking. There have been rumors that the 2G Jailbreak is slowing down and potentially coming to a stop due to Apple's "new" stance on it being illegal, although it is technically legal, so I'm kinda desperate right now :o

You can jailbreak the 2g now (mine is) and it's from the dev team (lookup red snow). The catch is if you have to reboot your ipod you have to be near a computer to do it.
An alternative is to buy a dongle from Nitrokey, but that costs $55 and it's believed they may have ripped the code off from the dev team without giving them credit.
The dev team is also working on a dongle solution themselves, but you have to make it yourself... so better have some soldering skills.

Don't think u should worry to much about it, download AVG and scan all the files u download and u will see if there is any trojans, though I uses ESET NOD32 Antivirus, but it costs money :P

I'm really tempted to get a refurbed 1G touch or something to Jailbreak it and just have fun with it. If I can find one in the $100-$150 range from my friends or something I'll buy it

Yea. I'm thinking of doing the same. My friend got a 2G for christmas, even though he has a 1G (Kind of odd...)

Dev Team has released their official iPod Touch 2G jailbreak, and it will no doubt be added to quickpwn and pwnage shortly. The 2G is now just as jailbreakable as the 1G.
