I need to know... Is there an app/add-on that allows 4.0-only apps such as GameCenter, iBooks, and iAd-supported games to be downloaded onto a first-generation iPod Touch? I've tried a bunch of different methods, such as changing the system version file in iFile, but have yet to find a solution to my problem. If you know of an app/add-on that allows this, please tell me, because I don't want to miss out on GameCenter when more games use it.
EDIT: oops, I posted this in the wrong area. Moderators, would you mind moving it to "Jailbreaking Apps"?

Its highly doubtful you'll find a solution. Besides, if you're on a 1G Touch, dude I think its time you upgraded; its worth it.

I'm going with derek420 on this one. I think 3.1.3 is gonna be the last update for 1G. Also an upgrade is worth it...my girlfriend uses my 3G more than her 1G and my 3G is with me all day everyday and she's not lol

Well, the problem is that I'm in high school, so it's hard to get the $300 to upgrade to something that I don't need.

Its completely possible to gather the money for it..It won't exactly be easy, and it may take a little while, but it is doable, and it would be worth it. Seriously.

Wouldn't it be smarter and more responsible of him to save his money, instead of purchasing a slightly upgraded version of the same product that he already has, especially when he is a high school student?
Anyway, there are a few apps on Cydia that allow you to fake the current version of your firmware. Those might help you to get around Apple's arbitrary banning of your device for these apps. BTW, you are actually kind of lucky you don't have 4.0. It is a slow, bloated mess, just like most of the operating systems Apple has created. I'm just surprised that it took this long before the OS fell apart (it was actually pretty usable up to 3.1.3).

4.0.1 is quite fine of my iPhone 4 and was also good on my 3GS before it. OS's get more resource intensive as they evolve. This is nothing new. Same thing usually with computer OSs. My point is that the OS is not "broken" as you've implied. Just more resource intensive, and tailored to the newer, more powerful devices.

4.0.1 is also running smooth as silk on my iPhone 4 and on my old 3GS,
It really annoys me when people make ridiculous statements like the one a couple above.
Just because YOUR device isn't performing as well as you'd like doesn't mean everyones is the same.

That is simply an outright lie.
