Back when the game first came out there was someone who had a jailbroken device and knew how to alter the appearance of the frogs and did that. Somehow he was able to trade them to other jailbroken users who knew how to do the same thing.

Especially since they are at level 52 as well.

Edit: Just found another page for them and it appears it is another program to help you customize the frogs? Talk about riding someone's coat tails.

I played this game for months. It is really interesting and amazing. I play it whenever I have time. There is a bug in the game. You can breed as many frogs as you want at a time. Then you exit the game and go to the system settings and change the time to a day after. When you go back to the game, all your frogs are mature. You sell them for money and when you set your system time right, your money keeps unchanged. It is really great. Haha

If I'm not mistaken, the Magus & Veru are both level 16 frogs, so you should be okay. None of mine are grown up yet, or I'd send one. Sorry!

I found this week/last week's challenge - the one called Earth Water Fire Air or something like that to be harder than any other one yet. I really couldnt get ahold of any of the frogs in that set other than one that I happened to have on hand in my habitats. Some of the higher-rarity ones can cost way, way up there in the 10s of thousands & I went broke once before trying to complete the froggydex so I learned my lesson.
I was sort of breeding then selling my way through all the anuras & then the next species & on & on...totally ran out of gold!

If you let the frogs mature before you sell them, you won't run out of gold. It slows down your overall progress through the 'dex, but it's worth it to not run out of gold.

I also spent a week or so building up a gold reserve, before I started on filling the 'dex. I just bred my two highest-value frogs until I had a couple habitats filled with eggs, then waited for them to fully mature and reach 100% happiness and sold them for a tidy profit, then repeated. It's possible to get 40,000 gold profit every two days using just two habitats if you have two level-16 frogs to breed...

Still happily playing Pocket Frogs! I do have a question about backing up game data- no programs on my MacBookPro are recognizing my iPod touch (3rd gen). In case I end up restoring back to factory settings, is my game data saved via Plus+? I think my last iTunes backup might be a week old, and I'd hate to lose a week's worth of gameplay - especially this week's set. That took awhile to do! I'd also hate to have to stop playing until I can get to my local Genius bar, which I expect will be a zoo this weekend with iPad2 debuting! I need my daily Pocket Frogs fix!!!

I think I answered my own question using Pocket Frogs own "Help" from the game menu - "Backups and Switching Devices."

So, as long as I play PF while connected to WiFi right before I do anything drastic to my iPod, I should be OK...I think. My PF game data is the only data I really care about on my iPod right now!

Still really can't do anything until iTunes can see it, though...

I dunno about that....when you're a 'Dexer, breeding those takes-two-days-to-mature frogs just isn't all that fun.

Yes, yes, I know I can sell them and start the next round before they're fully grown, but even raising to the age where you don't lose coins takes a while.

Right now, 39% of our breeds (16 of 41) take the maximum time to mature: 1:21:00. I'd much prefer the new ones be in the level 5-7 range (maturing times from 4:46-16:53) if they can't be "easy breeders."

I DO enjoy getting a couple of new breeds...even if they bring my precious 'dex percentage down. (17% at the moment, thank you.) :cool:

Loving the game still; it is THE game that I have played the most of any app on my Touch and has a permanent spot on my front page. The only award I have left is the 5000 frog one, and I'm getting there. My personal goal is, of course, to fill the 'dex, and I've constantly tweaked my breeding strategy to that end. I really like what I'm doing now.

I actually prefer the 2 day frogs (even if they're slow) because I only have to check on them every couple of days. Another small benefit of getting some hypothetical >16 rarity frogs is that it would remove the need to hatch the eggs of some of the lesser 2 day frogs.

Agreed, after playing for so long it is the 2 day frogs that are the most appealing, to avoid/delay burnout. Personally I'd like it if the new ones were level 32 - it is 2x16 and I'm about to hit it :D, plus it would make one feel special for a while.

I've just started racing level 3 frogs and have noticed that regardless of whether I race an original level 3 (Clunicula, Marmorea, Puncti) or one that has been added since release (Tribus, Lanterna, Glacio) I only ever seem to get opponents that are original level 3 - and hence can only potentially win original level 3 frogs from racing. Anyone else noticed this or have I just been unlucky? Is that how it's meant to be?

I described the method I use somewhere earlier in this thread, but it'd probably be a pain to find it given the less than optimal search capabilities of vBulletin, so I'll just repost a quick rundown here. If you measure the time from the moment I get my hands on a new breed to the moment I get that breed to 100%, then no, it's not < 2 hours. Just the button mashing part takes around that amount of time.

1) Get a frog of each color/design color for the desired breed. I use the following list (sorry if I missed any, but I'm sure you get the idea):

Maroon Tingo
Red Tingo
Tangelo Carota
Orange Carota
Golden Aurum
Yellow Aurum
Lime Folium
Green Folium
Emerald Muscus
Olive Muscus
Marine Callaina
Aqua Callaina
Azure Caelus
Blue Caelus
Purple Pruni
Royal Viola
Pink Ceres
Violet Floris
White Albeo
Beige Bruna
Cocos Cafea
Black Picea
Glass Chroma

2) Take the first color, say Maroon, and look in the Froggydex for the design colors that you're missing.
3) Breed the Maroon Tingo with each of the design colors X times (explained below), selling the eggs in the process.
4) Repeat steps 2-3 until the Maroon ___ (Breed) section is at 100%.
5) Repeat steps 2-4 with Red/Tangelo/etc (all of the colors) until the whole breed is at 100%.

* You can choose X to be any value between 1-8 (I use ~4). The higher X is, the fewer times you'll need to recheck the Froggydex, but the more coins you'll waste. After doing this for a few breeds, you'll start to understand why it really sucks to check to Froggydex and you'll want to minimize the times you have to use it.

Yup, that is true. But, the higher the highest value frog is, the more eggs you can toss as they are no longer worth maturing, even if you're trying to farm coins. For example, Veru/Magus sell for ~10k and when you factor in the cost of breeding, you can earn ~5k. So if you have an egg that's only worth 3k max, you could just sell it and replace it with an egg of rarity 16. If they added in frogs that sold for 15k, there would be more breeds that you could toss and just replace with the highest value eggs. As an extreme example, if they added in some superbreed that sold for 30k and also took 2 days to mature, it wouldn't be worth maturing any of the current breeds and the only eggs you'd ever want to grow would be of the new breed.

Though, TBH, I actually just grow all of my 2 day frogs even though I know the above. Mostly it's because I don't want to be a high level with only 500k in coins. It just feels weird. Plus, I like to stock up coins/potions/stamps and feel rich, even at the cost of slowing my Froggydex progress.

As it happens, a slightly modified version of your method is what I'm using right now, based on...well...your post from earlier in the thread. {sheepish grin} I just got carried away when I took your "couple of hours" statement literally and thought you'd come up with some Miraculous New Way.

I even use your color combos, and I make sure they're in that very order, because I think the spectrum looks ever so pretty in my bottom three habitats. :cool:

I'm nerd enough to have an actual paper copy of the chart, and I consult the 'dex for the frogs I already have of the target breed, and thereafter I rarely use the 'dex, just my paper copy. I start by making the breedings within each habitat that I can to fill spaces, and early on, many of the frogs produced fill a space. Since I wait for frogs to hatch and mature anyway, I don't consult the 'dex, just color in squares when I go back and look at the results of that wave of breedings.

Once most of the spaces are filled in, *then* I go for targeted breedings to fill in the gaps here and there, at that point repeating the breeding "X" number of times to increase the chances. Again, I don't usually look at the 'dex, just come back later and check on the hatched frogs, then mark my paper chart.

I see now what you mean about the eggs, junking useless ones to replace them with high-value ones. I don't really bother with that. My bottom three habitats hold my breeders, one habitat holds the Weekly Set and / or requests, and all the others are just full of growing frogs for the 'dex quest.

Yeah, it's basically the same method I've used since the Froggydex first came out. Once you get the breeders set up properly, it does only take a couple hours to go from ~0-100%, but mainly because it's abusing the fact that eggs get logged in the Froggydex. Actually, now that I'm working on the 2-day frogs, I no longer use that method because it's way too costly. Pretty sure 10m gold wouldn't even be anywhere close to enough to fill the entire thing that way.

Don't know all the items, in fact I asked this questions myself before in another thread. I DO know that the new scenery I've seen is all 36 happiness points & thus more expensive (9,999 coins), slower to mail.

Here's a list of a few I have either received or know of:

Bows: gold & red
Picture frame
Chinese Aster flower
Purple lily
Chrysanthemum
Bronze star
Celtic item (not sure of name, don't have or want it)

Then there are new habitats:

Amythyst
Colored, pastel tiles
A greenish theme one, don't recall the name

For the races, when we win, we're given a choice to take coins or to take a frog. Could we have the option to change back to "take coins" if we first select "take frog"? When the menu on which choice we choose for our prize pops up, it obscures the available frogs, so we can't see precisely what frogs are offered when we're choosing between take coins or take frog.

Anyway, thanks for the absolutely amazing app. I love the new changes and the Dextera + Mariner. Keep on being awesome!

I downloaded PF on my iPad a couple of days ago, but wasn't sure I would like it, so I didn't set up a Plus account. Now that I've been playing and realize I'm a little bit addicted, I wish I'd set up the account. What I'm worried about is that, if I set up an account now, I will lose all the frogs and awards I've already earned. Does anyone know what happens if you start a Plus account from an in-progress game? I'm only at about level 5 or 6, so if i had to start over, I suppose it wouldn't be the end of the world. It would be a shame to lose my progress, though, so I'd like to avoid that.

I was thinking along the lines of Words With Friends which has such a feature. It is always enabled but I rarely if ever use it. It's just there. Like "racing" is a feature in PF which is there but which I don't use.

Just would like a way to communicate my thanks for gifting in a more personal manner & actually ASK what someone might like in return. That way, you don't send the 3rd Chartreuse NotAgainis Froggus that they have received that day.

I played on my own without a plus account till I was level 17 or 18 and had completed all but a couple of the awards. When I signed up to plus I had no problems and kept all my progress and achievements. I found it added a whole new dimension to the game. Swapping frogs is fun! Oh yeah I play on an iPad too. If you do join plus you should check out the pocket frogs trading thread here for frog swapping friends.

Other options (but they affect sound so might be a mite troublesome if you use your device as an alarm): turn off sound or place device in another room.

BTW, I always put my phone in airplane mode when I sync for when I didn't, in the past, getting a text messed up my Other iTunes category - it ballooned to 3 GB. Eventually had to erase & restore.

In fact, it was while I was searching for a solution to this problem that I discovered TouchArcade. The rest is history.

True, when my sister and I were both hot and heavy into the awards, we would sometimes trade challenge frogs, but I never got into the whole trading thing. I don't mind a fun gift now and then, but mostly I like to breed 'em myself. I *never* did that trick of cataloging a challenge frog and then buying it multiple times from the catalog. Horrors!

I have appreciated being gifted a specimen of the new breeds when they came out, though, and have tried to breed a few and spread them along when I happened to get one early. That kind of interaction is fun!

I know resource management is part of the game, but will we be getting another habitat at some point? If you keep one of every frog in habitats, you now have 5 full ones and one with 3 frogs, leaving only two totally free habitats (including the nursery) -- it's getting a leeeeettle bit tight there.

Maybe release an extra habitat (or allow its purchase, at least) to those who are over a certain level (like after all the levels where you can get new frogs)? That way, it doesn't skew things easier for those of lower levels, and gives those of us who have all the frogs a chance to breed for sets and other reasons with a little more ease.

You can only continue a game on another device, not keep it in sync. Syncing isn't possible since we support offline play.I apologize if this has been discussed, but I did search the thread, and the above post is the most relevant I can find for my question:

So, if you have an iPhone and iPad, and a single Plus+ account, as I understand it, the first time you start up Pocket Frogs on your new device, it will restore your last state from Plus+ and you continue from there.

My question is: What happens if you continue to play Pocket Frogs from both devices logged into the same Plus+ account?

Seems as they diverge that Plus+ may get more and more confused. My guess is that the most recent device you played from would be the state stored in Plus+ so if the other device were reloaded, that would be the restore point, which brings me to a theory that would be a lot of trouble but might allow a ghetto sort of syncing:

What if you did the following:

Play on iPhone. Exit game.
Delete the game from iPad.
Install game on iPad, and restored from Plus+.
Play on iPad. Exit game.
Delete the game from iPhone.
Install game on iPhone, and restored from Plus+.
Repeat back to step 1.

Painful: Yes. Risky: Yes. But seems like that would allow you to keep the same game state going back and forth beween devices.

I just got an iPhone, and I wanted my frogs on it, so I did something similar. I synced with Plus, backed up my Touch, then I plugged in the iPhone and told it to sync the app. Frogs synced from the just-saved data that had been on the Touch, and coordinated with Plus, when I first logged in. I did not lose any frogs, progress in the nursery, or achievements. So, theoretically, what you're proposing would work.

However...

The game went into "new player" mode, even though I'm Level 24, so I got all the messages about "This is the Catalog!" "This is the Store!" etc. Merely annoying once, but if it happened every time you changed devices, that would be a PITA.
I did lose the request that I had been working on. I mean, the frogs I'd been breeding were there, but the request wasn't.
The Weekly Set started over. It was really strange; I had already completed that set, but when I started with the iPhone, there it was, in the "Sets" section with a big red "1". However, it was ALSO in the "completed sets" list. Worried about what might happened if I tried to complete it again, I just clicked "Get New Set," and the typical message came up, with no loss. If you like doing the sets, I can see this being a major impediment to the method you're describing.


I had thought about playing on both my Touch and my phone, but...considering the above, I've decided to play only on my Phone. YMMV.

I too consider the phone as the primary, but I would like to look at my frogs in HD once in a while, and wouldn't really care if the iPad was totally up to date.

Just for grins, I went back to my Touch, powered off, and turned it on again so that Frogs would update from Plus. It did NOT pick up any of the progress I've made on my phone. The same frogs were there (only now full grown!) as had been there when I switched devices. It didn't pick up my level progress or anything. The "lost" request was still there.

However, the latest set (Insero Rainbow) was there under Weekly Sets.

To tell the truth, I started getting a wee bit nervous and stopped messing around with it, though perhaps there is some way to get the latest data to the other device without going through the computer backup.

In my case, it's all good, because my Touch is older and my phone new, so the phone is the one with that sparkling clear retina display. Looking at my frogs on my Touch now is like looking at them through a dirty window! :p

Have an iPhone. Will be getting an iPad as a sort of consolation prize. The iPad will remain at home but the iPhone will be with me when I'm out of the house.

Like others here, I need to know if the two devices can be used (NOT simultaneously & NOT for cheating) to play with the same user account. I would not leave a frog in the pond as that would be confusing, I realize.

I seriously do not want to begin again, with another account, at level 1 given that it has taken me since September to get to the almost-level of 21. Nor do I want to lose the flexibility of playing outside of the house for the iPhone fits in my purse & the iPad, well... 'Nuf said.

This is bound to be a question that is posed again & again as people (some who have invested considerable time & energy in your game & perhaps other games you may offer) have a smaller (Touch, iPhone) or larger (iPod) Apple device.

From the evidence gathered here, at least it appears that you won't have to start all over. Just back up the first device and then sync the second.

But it does kind of sound like, for maximum effectiveness, a person has to decide which device to play with and stick with that one. I remember much, much earlier in the thread this issue came up, and basically it's a consequence of having the game playable on a device besides a phone and while NOT in a wifi area. Unlike, say, Words with Friends.

It seems like the workaround DeanKeith describes above would technically work, but with some unfortunate artifacts, as I discovered in my switch. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that regularly.

I have to say that, again, how much I love this game! It's on the home screen of my phone and is, hands down, the game I play the most, and that I've played the longest of any app I own. (And the game in which I've invested the most $$!) Love my frogs!

I'm not heavy into games & I have limited time to play PF so I don't consider myself a "true gamer." If, since September, it took me this long to get to 11% of my 'dex then perhaps it'd be easier to understand why the thought of beginning again (or even starting an entirely new, non-PF game) would be unthinkable.

It must be difficult for a real gamer to understand why I have few games &, of them, PF, Crosswords & WWF are the only ones I continue to play on a regular or semi-regular basis.

Thanks for your input nonetheless, Midian.

Sooner or later Ian & David will need to address, from a software point of view, the issue of people having multiple devices & alternating between/among them.

p.s.: Thanks, Quossum, for your experiment. I see how there could be problems with Requests, Sets, & frogs/etc. found in pond, unless one device refused everything but where's the fun in that?

p.p.s.: I think DeanKeith has the only solution but it's too time-consuming to be workable...

MidianGTX is incorrect. If you have a Plus+ account, you would never have to start over.

Worst case scenario is you have two separate games branching from the point you added the 2nd device.

Then if you want, occasionally drop and add the game on your "secondary" device to pick up the progress you've made on your primary.

The only reason you'd want to drop/add the game on both devices alternating is if you want to never lose anything you've done.

I will say my workaround is still untested by me. The farthest I've gone is adding a 2nd device and observing that all progress up to that point was in fact transferred in via Plus+. So I see no reason why it wouldn't work as long as the last device you played on had your most recent game progress, and you were online with Plus+.

Since a large part of the game is the whole cataloguing thing, I was keeping pretty meticulous track of stuff. The last time I played, I had had 3,504 frogs...now suddenly I'm at 3893?! Not only that, but I was looking through the 'dex and I see two breeds that weren't around last time I played: Marinus & Dextera.
And guess what?! It says I have bred 178 & 195. So I was thinking could it be that they used to be called something else & the name was just changed? But they REALLY don't look familiar at all! What on earth is going on?? Now that I think about it, 195 + 178 = somewhere around 373 (ish lol) and the amount that I couldnt account for was 389 so those two are pretty close. I still dont get what the heck is going on though! LOL

Those are definitely the new breeds of frogs (came out around mid to late March). Are you sure someone didn't hack your account? Maybe you should change your Plus+ account...

LOL good point! But yeah, they were new in March (I specifically remember the preview pic we got around St. Patrick's day with the new frogs, new shamrock background, Celtic medallion, etc.), so if you didn't breed them, I have no clue how you got 'em. Maybe it's some glitch with your account bumping into someone else's? Dunno! :confused:

The two games branching from the same account seems unworkable since each would sync, of necessity, with the Plus+ network. I'd think logically the last to sync would be the default for either device. In addition, this would screw with Requests, any frogs in pond found, Set progress, etc.

Not sure this game has a way to "hand off" a game, so to speak. Haven't made any decision about it but tend to think I'll have my phone with me more than the iPad which is shared with my husband (translation: at this point, mainly used by my husband).

Wish Marsh & Marsh would update this game in other ways as well. New breeds are nice (for those who have mainly finished 'dexting) but modification of features (allowing for stamps to be used like potions, not all or nothing) & additional features (Express Nursery), etc. Many of these have been mentioned before.

PF has a loyal, dedicated following as the TA's forums about PF attests & that should be built on. IMO.

If I'm not mistaken, the only connection to any network, Plus+ included, for the iPod Touch is WiFi. You cannot, to my knowledge, get this through a USB port connected to an ethernet-connected computer.

So find places with free WiFi (libraries, schools, coffee houses, etc.) or purchase a MiFi or similar device which serves as a WiFi hub. These devices, like phones, require an initial purchase price plus an ongoing data plan (much like a cellphone data plan) with a wireless company.

The problem with this is that you're eliminating the most profitable frogs with your condition. The rarity 16 frogs completely crush any low rarity frog in terms of coins/time (and exp/time as well). The best way to build a stockpile of coins is to powerlevel to 16 by breeding your two most expensive frogs and then upgrading the frogs when you level until you hit 16. Nitpicking about which R9 frogs to breed is like foregoing a 6-figure job so you can spend the extra time clipping coupons.

1) Haven't decided what to do about installation on iPad. If I install with my current user name or my husband's (he's been playing on his phone but he's nowhere even close to my level) could I change my mind & uninstall the game, thereby uninstalling the use rname pref if I decided I should start from Level 1?

Comment/suggestion:

1) Frogs from Level 1 to Level 7 have progressively longer times to arrive in mb or mature. With Level 8 & above, although there is a vast difference in value, all take almost two days (half with an Express Mailbox). This is inherently unfair. This is one thing which, among many, should be addressed in a future update (if there is one).

p.s.: Finally got around to writing a review of the latest version. Five stars, highly positive - some other stuff added at end.

For some reason (probably my impatience) I actually have more stamps than I do potions at this point (and I bought potions!). I want to earn back more potions, but I always end up with long-time frogs growing up that I have to hurry. I think I'm going to use the level 2 & 3 frogs to get to 5000 frogs. I'd been breeding lots of Marinus & Dextera colours, but even those take too long if you've got a limited number of habitats to use.

I loved the idea of the babyproofing kit and the mailbox express IAPs, but I originally found the $4.99 price a bit steep. A few months after they were introduced, I realized I've been playing this game since September of last year, and comparing the price of one of those two IAPs vs the amount of months I've played, it's actually not a bad deal since I'm not likely to give up the game any time soon. So I just bought the express mailbox.

Thank you very much for providing such a wonderful game with no ads and without "necessary" IAPs. This is definitely the game I've stuck with the longest and I hope to continue following your other games as well. :)

My iPhone 4 died yesterday (weep) and I had no other choice but to do a system recovery. I lost everything. I then did a restore from my last sync, only to find that the last sync was 4 months ago. I re-downloaded pocket frogs and it set me back to my progress as of 4 months ago. All my recent work on dexing is gone (half my verus!) and all the weeklies are gone, etc etc. But when I log into plus+ it still shows the xp and coins that I was at yesterday right before the crash.

Is there any way to restore pocket frogs and recover all my progress over the last 4 months?? Please please!! :)

Tiny Tower reminded me of what I had enjoyed about PF and the two games have a sort of synergy where you can mess with one then go mess with the other and so on and so on.

Jumping back into PF, I'm at the "hardcore breeding" stretch where the only achievement I need to do anything for is the 5,000 frog one so I found myself springing for the baby proofing after 9 months of not spending a penny on the game. This amuses me because I dropped the fiver on Tiny Tower precisely because I never had spent a dime on PF even though it had been a permanent resident on my touch since it came out.

I have a problem with this game ...
I am running it with an Android phone via Mobage and i've been having this issue ... Whenever i tame a frog , when i go back to the nursery and click my frog again , nothing happens , The frog makes a noise then i have to switch to another frog space and come back in the nursery to click a untamed frog ... so that kind of killed my game since my nursery is full of unworking frogs and i can't do a single thing ....
I emailed Nimblebit but i was wondering if anybody in here knew anything about this issue , and if i could reset the account to start over (at least i could play the game ) i was only level 5 ... I did not cheat , so that's not where the problem is coming from ...
i tried restarting my game , closing my phone on/off , re-installing the app , clearing my Pocket frogs cache/ mobage cache ... Using an older pocket frogs version ... I tried everything , Please somebody help me :)

Been playing daily since release date, never had a problem before last week.
Went to get the new set at the same time I get it every week. (I have an alarm set). Couldn't get the set til the next day. Ok, no big deal.
Now, the sets icon has a '1' in the badge, but every time I press on the icon the app crashes. I have rebooted the iphone twice, didn't help. The rest of the app appears to function normally.
This abberant behavior seems tied to the new sets, and I hope it can be resolved soon as I haven't missed a set yet so far.

Yea, I looked at twitter and @eeen (Tim Marsh I think) said to someone that its a known problem and requires a reinstall. As long as you're logged into plus+, you should be fine.

My problem was fixed thanks to some help from the Mobage (android PF povider) dev team , but now i cannot access my Mailbox ...
Whenever i click my mailbox , the game crashes ... I had two lvl 8 frogs and 6 Base anuras , and as soon as one of them were completed (30 mins had passed ) I couldn't have access to my mailbox anymore ....

My sister texted with me an alert about the update, and I was all, yeah, yeah, la-dee-dah, I'll get around to checking it out... Backed up the phone first (having learned my lesson with the "update from hell"), loaded it up just fine, and then...

OMG, more habitats! More freakin' habitats! I'm over the moon! Okay, okay, no one should like a game this much, but my hands were shaking just a wee little bit as I sat there contemplating my new scheme...and the spending of lots and lots of coins. Oh, well, here's where playing conservatively, raising everything to maturity before selling so as to have a very comfy nest egg (and stockpile of stamps and potions!) comes in really handy!

Can't wait to see the new frogs. It was with great pleasure that I changed my Plus+ tagline to 19% Froggydex. I was up to 23%, but you know what? I don't mind going down a little. More goals to reach! :p:cool:

Silly question maybe - but with the influx of new frogs did the catalog increase at all since the old one won't fit them all? My order and color coordination is shot and I suppose I could dump the lowest level ones since they are the cheapest from the Dex; but I kind of like having one of each in the catalog.

I have the same problem. Everytime I visit the Neighbors I can see my Neighbors, but the app crashes when I select one of them.
I hope that they fix this issue asap!

All frogs in the FrogMart, other than the special frog that costs potions, are almost always frogs that I already have in my FroggyDex. I think this has to be a bug. Why would I need to buy frogs from the Mary when I already have them?

Following advice here, I told my friend it was absolutely safe to change from using her iPod Touch v. 1 to her new, spiffy iPad v.2. Instructed her to log on to the Plus+ Network prior to closing PF.

Then, I said she should d/l PF onto her iPad. Then she should log in using the log on name/pw from her Touch. All went well. She said a message came up saying PF couldn't sync across multiple devices but she didn't care for it was too slow on her Touch - she was moving from one device to another, that was the whole idea. Then a message about restoring. PF then came up for a brief instant showing her previous level & a glimpse of her frogs in the visible hab. Then PF crashed/closed abruptly. When she opened it again, it said level 1, 10 stamps, 10 potions, 0 XP points as if she were beginning the game again. Her previous Awards (but no XP for them) & friends were visible, however.

So I told her to d/l PF for the iPad again but this time with Touch turned off, not just with PF closed. Same result. Back to square one in PF.

Then, thinking it wouldn't matter she could always reinstall if things didn't work out, I suggested she delete PF from her Touch altogether & then try d/ling & installing on iPad. Again, messages, brief view of level, crash, opening as if game had never been played except for Awards she had won.

She then d/led & reinstalled PF on her Touch but the result was the same as on the iPad. Installation, log on, message about syncing, message about restoring, brief view, crash, back to square one.

I feel directly responsible for this for I believed from previous posts that it was possible to install PF (not simultaneously use) on a newer device.

Can either of you help her with this issue?

To summarize previous message, she did everything including using a Plus+ account. She received the "Restore previous settings" message, screen showed for briefest of times indicating her level (7? 8? don't recall what she said), showing her frogs & then the program went black & closed abruptly.

Upon reopening, she was at level 1, with 0 XP, 10 stamps & potions. All her Awards were listed, as were her friends. She needs a solution fast for she's about to toss in the towel.

I must say that, frankly, her experience gives me pause as well. I've spent a good deal of time playing PF but I plan to change from my current iPhone to the next gen one when my contract expires. What then? Will I, too, be back at level 1?

I have no idea which version of PF she had & now, even if I asked, there'd be no way she could tell given that she has installed the latest version (at this point, uninstalled). I DO know that she had the oldest iPod Touch (v. 1) & was planning, via the Plus+ Network, to transfer her game to the newest iPad, v. 2. If such a thing were impossible, it would have been helpful to post a warning somewhere for potential device changers.

I finally thought to look myself at her status on the Network, it's Level 9, 86,000 coins, no idea how many potions or stamps. When she tries to access this account on the iPad, it ends showing no XP or coins.

Probably only David or Ian can solve this problem. It's either the game or Plus+ & frankly, the network shows her status as the way she thinks she remembers it while the game only shows friends & awards but nothing else.

Wished they checked this forum more often...

p.s.: I've advised her to just just start a new account (at least she'd get credit for the awards!) but she said she doesn't want to waste any more time on the game/network for she could still end up having another problem in another 6-8 months, a year, whatever. She's right, she could, & so could any of us.

First, thanks for attempting to help & giving me the benefit of your experience. Here's what I know:

She has deleted from both devices. No matter what she does, an install on the iTouch or the iPad (not at the same time, of course), the result is always the same.
She first finds a level 1 screen
She is then presented with a log on screen
She logs on
She gets some message about not being able to sync between devices
She then gets a message about restoring from backup online
She taps OK or whatever you tap
She sees her correct level & the frogs in a hab for a brief moment
The screen goes black & PF closes/crashes (not sure which)
She reopens it & she's at level 1


She has repeated the process of d/ling the program, running, going through these steps on both the Touch & the iPad & she deletes the program afterwards. She said she has done this numerous times. All she sees of her past PF life is the % of awards & her friends lists. Again, what I see when I check her account is NOT level 1 but level 9.

Now it is highly unlikely, given the slowness of her Touch, that she would have been on the same version of PF the first time she tried to switch to the iPad. Currently, when they are installed, I assume they are the same version since they were both d/led the same day. Maybe this is a misconception & maybe it's impossible to run a current version on a device 4 (?) years old.

Where are David & Ian when you need them? Are they being held hostage on the 99th floor of Tiny Towers?

What he seems to be saying is you should sinc the old (Non-iOS 4) iPhone to your itunes account. Now your old version of Pocket Frogs is on your computer. Then delete the iPad's Pocket Frogs. Then IF the iPad is on the same account, you would sinc the iPad to the same itunes account. This should transfer the old version of Pocket Frogs together with it's data to the iPad. Plus+ should then be able to read it's backup into the iPad.

Notice the many uses of "should", but that seems to be what Ian is saying. In any event, she might want to reply to the original post above to get some answers from the community, although the most of the current answers seem to involve a jailbroken device.

If Ian feels that it might (read "is" - didn't they test?) be impossible to sync across versions & her v. 1 Touch is too slow, she would have no choice but to abandon level 9 & begin anew. This does not bode well for the current users of Pocket Frogs. If one can't afford to keep up with technology (job loss, illness, etc.), this could happen to you or me or anyone. With NO warning.

Kind of dismayed that it appears that the Bros. Marsh seem to have abandoned this forum thread. Probably making more money & giving more attention their their latest, greatest game. Not a value judgment, just an observation based on the fact that this question has been posted here for a while.

How do I disagree with thee, let me count the ways:

I was trying to assist a friend in asking for advice here
Previously this forum did receive input from the Marsh brothers & I had no reason to believe that that had changed
Not everyone who plays PF is up-to-date on the latest forum for support - I didn't bother to look since I had already found this one
My out-of-work friend scraped together the cash to buy the cheapest iPad to replace her aging Touch - she bought it when she could afford it. If having insufficient funds to buy a new device every year or two is a "no-no" then she did well to abandon NimbleBit & never set foot in this forum.
Ian & David, by the answer they posted in the other forum (as quoted by Nirtew), didn't bother to test all "i" devices & apparently were too busy to even test after the fact, when problems arose, to verify that this was a serious issue
Ian & David offered no "Caveat Emptor" clause in their PF update descriptions to forewarn people of this issue prior to their losing all their data
PF was marketed as a program which could be used on any Apple device & switched from one to another (not played on simultaneously, of course)


So to reprise, I "was kind of asking for it"? No, I don't think so; I was asking for help for a friend, using the tools I had at hand. What I do feel is that your reasoning & logic are askew, Tilt.

Not to be mean or anything, it's unclear why you chose to target me when the true culprits in this particular drama are the devs whose cavalier attitude towards former/current customers in both forums should give us all pause.

Sorry lisianne about your friends predicament - the post reminded me of my own situation. I dunno if it is too late but perhaps your friend can restore the older version of pocket frogs on the touch again, sync and all that. Then put the older (before update version) on the iPad and then update from the iPad itself?

You can restore an older version of the app if she didn't empty her trash on the computer as that is usually where they all end up after updates. The process is HERE (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10345683-233.html)

Previously this forum did receive input from the Marsh brothers & I had no reason to believe that that had changed
Not everyone who plays PF is up-to-date on the latest forum for support - I didn't bother to look since I had already found this one
My out-of-work friend scraped together the cash to buy the cheapest iPad to replace her aging Touch - she bought it when she could afford it. If having insufficient funds to buy a new device every year or two is a "no-no" then she did well to abandon NimbleBit & never set foot in this forum.
Ian & David, by the answer they posted in the other forum (as quoted by Nirtew), didn't bother to test all "i" devices & apparently were too busy to even test after the fact, when problems arose, to verify that this was a serious issue
Ian & David offered no "Caveat Emptor" clause in their PF update descriptions to forewarn people of this issue prior to their losing all their data
PF was marketed as a program which could be used on any Apple device & switched from one to another (not played on simultaneously, of course)


So to reprise, I "was kind of asking for it"? No, I don't think so; I was asking for help for a friend, using the tools I had at hand. What I do feel is that your reasoning & logic are askew, Tilt.

You seem like a smart person, but how did you not realize to look for better support sources after no response here after a day? When I had trouble with Real Racing 2, I posted my problems in that game's respective thread here, but got no response. Firemint is very similar to NB in usage of TA. They are quite active after a game's release, and then soon only periodically check these forums. So after I did not receive a response from them, I went to Google, found their GS forum in no time, posted my complaints, and received a response as quick as lightning.

And what, now you're also criticizing me for not directing you to Nimblebit's GS forum? What, am I supposed to check a dev's official support forum and memorize them even when I don't have a complaint with their games, just so I can provide them to people in need like you? What, am I the App Store's official customer support guy?

But, I did look for their GS forum just now just to see how fast it would take. I searched "pocket frogs support" in Google, and the first result happened to be NB's home page. On the bottom of their site, a Support button takes you right to their GS forum. All this in under half a minute.

It's really sad that my attempt to help explain their poor support in this post was met with your amazingly ignorant post. You seemed like a pretty intelligent, logical, and kind person simply trying to help out a friend, but now it just seems you're a frustrated, angry consumer focused on denouncing Nimblebit.

If you're a parent and you want to spend some special time with your child, play this game and share your frogs and have fun comparing your habitats. I've spent and intend to spend so much time enjoying this game with my little one. What's up with presents after Level 20? Just achieved that level today and ever since, all the rewards I've been getting in the Pond suck. I barely encounter any presents anymore, and when I DO get presents, it's either stamps, potions, or coins. I get habitats pretty often too, but they're always ones I already have. But frogs and scenery BARELY come up anymore, and it's quite frustrating. My MB used to be at 6-8 ALL the time, but now I'm lucky to see 4 waiting to be delivered.

Just thought I would add that it's really a shame they have yet to fix (and they may never) the bug that if you used Pocket Frogs before the 1.1 update but deleted it, the newer versions still can't restore your data from the Plus+ server. They also need to add iCloud support...

A couple of players on the trading thread said Wolverine for the Tribus. Immediately saw a resemblance in the hair! Sometimes the frog=?? is easy to see, other times not so much. I still want the Obaro to be Wonder Woman. :)

Tree Art is the name of the habitat wallpaper.

The 8 Gyruses are supposed to resemble blue-ringed octopuses in different shades (both skin/ring color), it's not an official set though. I never gave it a name.

I am sorry for the slight thread necromancy, but would anyone here have some helpful tips for a new player? I am having fun playing this game with my son, and we are both level 5.

Should I keep my eyes out and catalog certain colors or patterns?
Should I worry about cataloging any of the common level 1-4 frogs I have been accumulating?

There are 23 main colors and 16 secondary colors. So you want to catalog or keep on hand in your habitats at least one of each assuming you are working on the achievements. You will also want on hand (or cataloged) one each of all the species you run across.

If you have not run across each color, just keep at it in the pond. There is only one main color (glass) and one secondary color (chroma) that cannot be found in the pond. They rarely occur with certain breeding combinations. I just sent you a Glass Chroma Anura, and now that you have those colors, they breed just like any other.

Eventually you will outgrow the catalog, but you can buy frogs from the Froggydex as well, they are just more expensive. But as you out grow the catalog, you will be able to afford more habitats. Once you have a lot of them you can have pretty much everything you need for breeding anything you want on-hand in your habitats without even needed the catalog or Froggydex.

Thanks very much for the knowledge and the frog, DeanKeith! I have been having fun breeding the Glass Chrome Anura with some of the more unique frogs available to me at level 6.

I am definitely going to start working on the achievements once I get my frogs organized a little better. Fun stuff.

There are also a few species of frogs that don't appear in the pond. Most of those occasionally appear in the Frog Mart as the ones you have to spend potions on rather than coins. I'll send you some of those when I get a chance. I'll keep it level 6 and under so you can actually breed them. But feel free to send me any requests you may have. Giving/trading frogs is just one more fun aspect of the game... and I'm pretty much done with all the in-game goals, and I have more coins and potions than I know what to do with anyway, so I certainly don't mind being generous.

Hello LJayne,

Yes, you can go back and complete all of the weekly sets.

Once the current weekly set is completed and redeemed press the "Get New Set" button. The next weekly set displayed will be a past set. As you complete the sets the game will scroll backwards through all of the past sets allowing you to complete them.

New sets are issued once a week early Thursday mornings. If you're able to complete the newly issued set by the weekend for example, redeem it and press "Get New Set", an old set will be displayed for you to complete and redeem.

On Facebook, one of the Nimblebit devs posted to say that set had a bug, and what you need to do to fix it is simply press "get new set". You'll have it automatically replaced with the NEW Week 33 8-frog "Heat Wave" set. They apologized for the confusion and the glitch.

I'm going to have a lot to do since Plus+ purged my save game at some point. I did have every breed, about 4000 frogs cataloged in the dex, max environments, rare happiness widgets out the yin-yang, dozens of completed sets, so many potions and stamps I didn't even know what to do with them, but I'd removed it at some point to free up some room, and then I reinstalled last week when TA mentioned this update coming so I could restore from Plus+ and... nothing. All I got were the achievements (72/73), whee!

Oh well, I have a 64GB device now so no need to remove a game this small for space considerations and I'm curious to see how far I get starting fresh.

It's a one stop copy everything (or not, you can also set all the usual sync options while it's starting the process - when I gave my son my old touch last month, I simply set it up using the backup from my wife's iPad he'd been using all along and just set it up to sync apps but not music or video).

So, unless there's something that prevents you from using iTunes (and the fact that Plus+ doesn't work all the time anyhow, witness my post a page or so back), I'm not seeing your problem.

:oYou can "clone" any iOS device to any other iOS device, device/OS version specific settings obviously won't be copied, but it does a great job of moving all your music, video, apps, app data. contacts, email settings, etc. all in one swoop. You will have to re-enter all you passwords and some <insert profanity stream here> paranoid game devs hide their app data in nonspecific places so you lose it anyhow (developers of Mega Run & Jump, I'm looking at you! ;)), but, excepting the edge cases, it works nearly flawlessly.

My guess is Yes, because i just saw a Trivium in the mart a few days ago. So i'm expecting the older promotional frogs to remain available for sale in the mart. It's just that with the new update the number of promo frogs increased, so chances of seeing a Lanterna for sale in the mart is lowered.

I'm not sure how many of the 47 new breeds can be bought in the mart though....
