I had it on the untethered 2G and made it crash ALL THE TIME.
Better to go with SBSettings. It can hide icons. And then use Quick Gold to find them. You can go over the 144 Springboard limit.

Nothing against you.. but you've been starting a lot of threads about this stuff. It's cool that you're excited about being jailbroken and everything, I would be too, but maybe you could cut back on making new threads. For example, you could've posted that message within your Thread for Quick Gold. You could've just said to use Quick Gold rather than install Categories...:)

And the threads I've started are:
* My own personal one
* One for themes
* One for Widgets
* One warning about something that may make someone else lose hours of work.
* One with the most useful application out there.
This forum was basically dead. It just looks like a lot due to its lack of traffic before ;)

Are you both using a 2G untethered jailbreak?

It may be because you have over 500 apps,
I have over 500 apps on my Touch. I used categories to put them into seven folders based on what the first letter of their name is. Then I discovered Quick Gold:

Out of curiousity, Deb, do you use all 500 apps all that often? :D
categories work perfect for me also

Can anyone share any insight as to why syncing crashes all the time?
And it's not because of the # of apps. I used to have 144 all the time with no problem. Now it crashed at app 80. And it crashes about every 10 apps.

Again, works fine for me. Doesn't crash on my 2G Touch or iPhone 3G.

The Springboard can actually hold an infinite number of pages but can only display 9 of them.
the apps not on the first 9 will need to be launched with QuickGold or Mobile Finder.

ive never had a problem with categories - my guess is that your problem lies in the number of apps you have on your device... 500? Really?

SB Settings - Left-swipe on the black strip at the top.
Quick Gold - Tap home button once.
And re # of apps - it starts crashing at app # 80. Less than 100. And it crashes every 10 apps or so. Can't have more than 80 apps?

I have around 200 apps installed at all times, and have had no problems.

maybe cuz the other apps cause it to crash? 500 apps slow down scrolling i guess...

How do you make the icons from being squared to being rounded like they were outside the catagory?

You can't. Is that really a big deal? The answer is no, it's not. They're square, get over it.

Wow what a douche. You do realize that people download themes to make things look the way they want them to? It's their phone, so STFU and let people decide how they want their phone to look.
It is a missing feature from the app (loading in current phone themed icons) but if it makes the loading speed any longer then it is, then I can understand them not implementing this feature.
anyone got any ideas how you can add icons to categories default list ?
I'm using the picnic theme and would like to loose a lot of categories icon and add a few new picnic ones.
I'm sure i can do it with iPhoneBrowser v1.81. but with ones do i need to edit ?

@ Benegesserit
Are you retarted or something? He asked if there was a way to do it and I told him no. He never even mentioned a theme he just asked if there was a way to make them not square. Plus, sometimes you have to make compromises. If you want your icons themed then don't put them in categories, if you want them not cluttering your screens then do. I wouldn't say it's missing any features, it does it's job fine. It stops apps from cluttering you screen and puts them in convenient folders. In the description it never says anything about them being themed. If you don't like it then don't install it. If you have a complaint then email the dev. Just don't go around insulting people when you do t even have your facts straight.
