(This thread might be better suited in general gaming discussion, but I think I'll leave it here in this section for now)

I dont really consider myself as a hardcore gamer and really like the casual games on the ipad/ipod. Some of these I'd like to see on the mac too. Here's my list of byte sized games I love on the iDevices and would like to play on the 'real' big screen to...

Angry birds (should be easy to port I think)
Reckless racing (ya, some of you arent a fan of this one but I really love it)
Foosball HD (not sure how it'll work on Mac but still, its a cool game on ipad and will be fun to see how they do it for the mac)
Fruit Ninja (yaaa, this might be all that fun but still)
EVAC HD (loving it on the iPad. Should be easy to port too)
Chopper (Fun Game. But controls will need to re-worked I guess)
Monster Dash!! This one I want on all god damn platforms ever created!!

Then there are few which are already available on Macs with flash (like canabalt, Robot Unicorn ) but I'd really prefer having an app for it instead of an online flash crap.

There should be more games which will be better suited for the mac but right now this is all I can think of. What would you guys like to see on the Mac AppStore?

I can't see dual-stick shooters working as well on the laptop as on the iPhone/iPad.

I would love to see Let's Golf!. Also another good game would be Jet Car Stunt which would fill the Trackmania gap on Mac OS X. Also, plane games (Skies of Glory, Star Battalion) wouldn't be bad. Finally, racing games, particularly the Crash Bandicoot karting game.

can someone take the liberty of emailing the game developers (ie the developer of angry birds, HR battle 3D, doodle jump, etc) and ask them if that is in their plans to develop a game for the app store?

I would love to see all of Gameloft's games on the mac! Especially PoP, MC 1 and 2, Gangstar 1 and 2, and Spiderman

Yeah, those would be great, especially if they were the same price as the iOS version, so you could get a COD-like game for a tenth of the price.

iBlast Moki could be interesting. If Rocketcat could figure something out for controls, their games would be cool.
Cut the Rope could probably work, but they would have to make it not use multitouch. (maybe gestures, but not cutting specific ropes at the same time)
Pocket God could work as a widget type thing.
Most iOS games are dependant on touch, so really only the ones with virtual sticks would transfer well. (with completely redone graphics)

I will probably be porting Killer Pool and Nano Rally to the Mac App Store, but I was wondering about creating a new game specifically for the Mac App Store.

Which genres of games would people most like to see? Personally i'd love to make a rts/tbs - but what would people like to see?

ImNoSuperMan - does this warant a new thread, possibly with a vote?

is there no ability to play iOS games native on mac os? do they all need to create a port or is this port a completely new version then (e.g. iphone vs. ipad version!?)
I'd love to play for instance fragger as a retina version on 960px on my Macbook, this is possible!?!?

I'm sorry to bring a dark point of view here but my answer would be none.

And the reason is for all games I have both on Mac or PC and on iPad, the iPad version is just awfully much more sexy. There's absolutely no comparison up to the point that it disgust me to play the game on Mac or PC if I can play it on iPad.

ipod_david

so there is no way to play them natively on my mac in a (lets say) retina if supported solution? If this is true, then the whole mac os x store is a big joke.

Any of the fps games with an iPhone or iPod touch as a controller.

Yes.. And the new track pad is going to play into all this as well. Also with the apple tv they are planning on releasing games onto that as well. And I can see us using our devices to play on them as well. Apple slowly but surly is lining all there ducks in a row and trust me when they are done its going to be a great thing for all the i device and apple fan boys out there. Playstation and xbox better watch out

N.O.V.A ----> How awesome would it be to have N.O.V.A on the Mac? I know Halo is out there... but halo went from the Xbox to PC.. So why not NOVA from iPod to Mac?

Mmm I don't care much to have ipad games on my Mac but Tilt to Live could make me see it differently. I'll be frank for a Mac game I would expect deeper graphics but move the arrow with the mouse sounds great to me.

I don't think the goal is the next CoD or WoW.

Both my wife and mother play the crap out of sites like big fish and yahoo games.

My wife also downloaded the iphone version of PvsZ for her iPad and played at 2x size because it was cheaper (and beat every level). Why? she does not care about the graphics.
She just likes fun simple games and easy purchasing. She hates extracting files, graphics setting, etc.

The app store will be perfect for a lot of people.

I'm sure it will also be an easy way to buy regular productivity software too

Just my opinion

"Tilt to Live" could be renamed into "Point to Live", as you'd control the arrow using the mouse. I think it could be pretty cool.

Or perhaps for Tilt to Live one's iPhone/iPod touch could pair via wi-fi (Chopper 2 style) for the controller.

May not work out in practice, just a random thought. But the bright colors and jazzy soundtrack could be really sick and immersive on a Mac cinema display.

Also, I could see Sonic 4 being really fun.

Checked out your title on the app store. . . looks interesting.. . like the added nuke factor over stuff like risk and others.

if I wasnt so broke from the rush last month.

The game should port well to mac. Wht with the screen space and all being a bonus to it.

I think the Mac App Store has a ways to go. The biggest shortcomings are:

- not even a brief description of what an application is in the list of applications. You have to click on the app to bring up the full details to even get an idea of what the heck it is. Repeat 100 times. Or just don't even do it once. I'm finding myself moving toward the latter.

- still no integrated demo versions. There shouldn't be "Lite" and "Full" listings. There should be "Angry Birds", within which you can download the demo or buy the full game, with the price listed. You should also be able to unlock the "Demo" version from within the game/app without downloading anything else. Demos should be required of all Mac App Store games, at the least, and preferably all apps. I.e. like Xbox Live Arcade.

- no easy way to see what's new. I want to see what apps have been added since I last opened the Mac App Store, and not filtered through some arbitrary "Notable" filter. Can't do it. Or if you can I have no idea how to do that.

I hope they improve this thing rapidly.

That's an artifact of selection bias. You're choosing games for the iOS platform that work well on iOS, that makes them popular on iOS, that causes lots of other people to buy it. But that doesn't mean there can't also be games, including iOS games, that aren't all that successful on that platform but would work better on a full computer.
