That was true at the time, but thankfully the game is compatible on iPad with iOS 4.2 and still looks good in 2x mode.

Some people have found that downloading the free 10 clue versions of the canvases first and then upgrading them works? Sorry, we're looking into it right now.

Also, we've worked out why installation is failing for in app purchases sometimes - it's a memory issue when extracting the 50 puzzle versions, so the two temporary solutions are:

a) Fully close all other apps (by double clicking the home button) on your device before downloading a new canvas

OR

B) Download the FREE 10 clue version, and then upgrade it.

Currently working on a more seamless fix!

Is anybody having problems solving the bonus christmas puzzles?

I have solved every single one except for the 1st day of christmas (The one with the SWYS Advent Puzzle Starts Tomorrow phrase) and the cheese star for December 10th.

I type in "Star of Bethlehem" for december 10th... and it gives me a yellow marker instead of red. ... but I don't know what else to add to it to make it right.

Thanks! Been playing this obsessively, it looks gorgeous on the iPad. I had both books2film and scary movies on the iPhone app, so I just finished 80's movies on the iPad and I'm still having a lot of fun with this! There are still some minor problems with overlapping puzzles (for example, on the 80's movies the three guys standing around the baby in the stroller - I had to complete the two guys in the back before it would let me select the baby), but still very impressed with the quality here. Highly recommended!

We've got a MASSIVE UPDATE for the app currently winging it's way through Apple's approval system, and should hopefully be ready really soon. Adds some great new features, including hints, a coin hunting mini-game, a graphical overhaul and much improved gameplay.

Don't worry! It will take you through the payment process, but at the end you'll get a message saying: "You've already purchased this. Tap OK to download it again for free."

We do mention it in the initial How To Play screens in the app and on the update notes in the iTunes store, but the iTunes store won't return a value of 'FREE' if you've already bought something. So our hands are tied a bit. But we really don't want to make you pay for something twice!

We've just released two new canvases - the Christmas themed "Xmas Songs" which is very seasonal, and the not so seasonal 'Video Games', though we guess loads of big video games come out at this time of year, so it TOTALLY COUNTS.

As ever, you have to spot the 50 video game titles hidden in the picture. Here's a free sample of the Video Games canvas - anyone want to guess what 1-10 are? They're all Console video games released in the last 10 years or so.

I've already played quite a bit of SWYS on iPad, so the idea of getting an HD version is a nice one!

I've already played quite a bit of SWYS on iPad, so the idea of getting an HD version is a nice one!

The HD version is 3x the resolution, so the canvases look AMAZING - you can even see the grain of the canvas boards they were painted on in some cases!

New canvas out today: Fantasy Movies!

This stunning bit of art is painted by Ryan Firchau, an ex-Rare (Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, Kinectimals) concept artist, and you can certainly see the classic Rare look in full force here. Here's a quick Touch Arcade-exclusive interview with Ryan for you:

SWYS: Hi Ryan! Ok, so first question - how did you find painting your first Say What You See canvas?

Ryan: The wide range of clues incorporated some subject matter I haven't tackled before so that was refreshing and fun. As a Concept Artist you tend to draw a lot of the same subject matter, so it makes a pleasant change to come out of your comfort zone. I think I probably under estimated the amount of work required to make the canvas look good.The biggest challenge came from a compositional aspect due predominantly to the large number of clues that needed to be incorporated and positioning them within the scene. But it was a great experience!

SWYS: Which puzzle on the canvas was your favourite to paint?

Ryan: Well, I spent the most time on the troll and dragon as they're really the focal point of the whole canvas. But the puzzle I enjoyed painting the most was definitely the one featuring Charlie Sheen - I hardly ever do caricatures so it was a real challenge, but I think I ended up, uh, 'Winning'!

SWYS: Finally, what are your favourite Fantasy Movies (That may or may not feature in the canvas!

Ryan: My all time favorite fantasy film has to be Labyrinth. I've watched that film more times then I can remember. Of course, I also love the Lord of the Rings trilogy - how could you not?
