Lol. I am sure that Bullfrog can do that and make a presence in the AppStore, since Bullfrog is now EA. ;)

Populous was ported to the Nintendo DS by EA Japan and published in the states by Xseed Games last november. You might try contacting them.

I'd love to do a version of Populous. Not a port, something more pitched it iPhone level hardware, it is after all about 50x faster than the STs and Amigas we originally wrote Populous on.
I'm seriously considering trying to make this happen when I get the time.

It would be cool if bungie had some of their back catalogue ported.
Like the Marathon trilogy.
Or even cooler could be Myth. I wonder if that would even run on the phone though?

A little more realistic would be the Fire Emblem series. I played them all the time back during the gameboy era. It would easily be possible, especially graphics wise.

My signature. Its been ported to Linux, Mac, GP2X, Xbox, Wii, PSP, and DS. Though the copyrighted material would likely be have to changed though (which is all the art and music asset >.>)

EDIT: From the site in case no one wants to read.
The source code is released under GPLv2.
Update:
The 1.8 beta has been released so public access has been turned on for the project once again. Start porting this to your platforms!

Halo, Call of Duty, Resistence, Counterstrike, Battlefront, Interactive Buddy
Now THAT.. is a bit too much to ask for... You could get a psp instead. There ware several games like interactive buddy though.. SOCOM would be pretty sweet.. I know some great controls for it

YS 伊苏 series by Falcom - it would definitely be a top RPG for iPhone if ported
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/5497/ys00541a.jpg
Original Legend of Sword and Fairy 原版仙剑奇侠传 - made in 1995 and upgraded a little in 1998, it became instant #1 RPG in most of Asia and still one of the top RPGs today with many sequels and spin-offs. Graphics are perfect for iPhone hardware. Guaranteed to be best turn-based RPG for eastern audience, best story, music, and gameplay of any RPG I've ever seen

Good call, Syndicate Wars would be sweet.
Warpack Grunts reminds me of Syndicate on the surface, so I'm looking forward to that.

I'd say closer to Quake (besides the obvious its running on Quake 3's engine). It looks faster paced than Halo, and its missing a lot of elements from Halo.

How has nobody ported a version of Warlords yet????
Warlords 1 or 2 would be amazing!!! even 3 would be alright.
But those games are classics and the turn based strategy is PERFECT for the iphone.

Do you mean the flash-based game "Warlords: Call to Arms" by Ben Olding, or the really old school one from the early 90's?

Some people seem to be confusing the iphone with an xbox. Some of the port suggestions would have to be nerfed so much you'd barely recognise the game. For example, Simpsons hit'n'run is way way WAY beyond games like CJS/payback; it'd never work in it's current format. Warcraft 3, counterstrike, halo etc. are all far too complex and graphically demanding.
Halo, Call of Duty, Resistence, Counterstrike, Battlefront, Interactive Buddy
I see here, that people mentioned counterstrike, I was an avid CS player in the day for about 7 or 8 years.
One alternative from porting Counterstrike 1.3 or further is this. it is an underground game that has the potential to rise above!
Ladies and folk.
It is called CS:2D

Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

http://i1-games.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Indigo-Prophecy-Patch_2.jpg
On the iPhone/iPad would be better controlled, than on PC/PS2
Control is preferable for touch screen...
And Fahrenheit is best story (epic) game of all times :)

The game I want to see ported the most right now is Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection.
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lscreen/78018_440x350.jpg
Considering FFIV is the next FF chronologically I think it's important we get the right version. The Compete collection was only made for the psp and it combined the original game with the after years and included a new section that bridged the 2. I believe this version would sell alot better than the ds remake as alot of people have never played the After Years. I didnt like theds 3d version of FF3 and would have much rather seen a 2d sprite form.
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lscreen/76790_440x350.jpg
FFIV is considered by most to be the first good final fantasy released and I think where people were hestitant to buy FF 1-3 they wouldn't be in this case. The game was well received and rated highly praising it's quality and depth. This seems like an obvious port that can make alot of money considering not alot of people own psp, FFIV is alot more well known and the game offers a ton of extra content. Finally the game is played in a revamped 2d sprite form that hit the fanbase of early Rpg gamers. This give old players a sense of nostalgia that a 3D remake just can't do.
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lscreen/78004_440x350.jpg
"After 20 year, FINAL FANTASY IV and its acclaimed sequel THE AFTER YEARS®, are now combined into one package as the ultimate role-playing game experience. A cast of unforgettable characters fight through one of the grandest stories ever told with stunning new graphics, a re-arranged, award-winning soundtrack, and bonus game features that provide theabsolute FINAL FANTASY IV experience." - From Gamestop/IGN

"Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection is a compilation consisting of enhanced ports of the role-playing video games Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. It was published by Square Enix for the PlayStation Portable in Japan on March 24, 2011, in North America on April 19, 2011, in Europe on April 21, 2011 and in Australia on April 28, 2011. It was also released as digital download.
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lscreen/78002_440x350.jpg
The compilation was supervised by Takashi Tokita. It includes a new playable chapter which bridges the gap between Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. The compilation features 16:9 high-resolution graphics, the computer generated imagery movies from the Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy IV, a new CG opening for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years,a new soundtrack arrangement, and a gallery mode for viewing CG movies and Yoshitaka Amano's artwork." - From Wikipedia

BATTLEFRONT 2 Fatprincess fist full of cake. Both would be possible graphically and i know fat princess could be ported, but i dunno if sony would let it be ported. Battlefront 2 should be possible, but may have to tone down graphics. If they make it similar or identical to the psp port it should work graphically and such.
