Flying DeLorean - (on hold)...

Just wanted to give you all a sneak peak at our new game "Flying DeLorean" coming in a week or two to the app store. It will be $0.99.

The game plays in landscape mode. Move your thumb up and down on the left side of the screen to control the flying DeLorean car vertically. Each level your goal will be to get to 88 MPH. If you hit that speed, you'll warp into the next time zone (aka level). Objects will fly at you based on what time period you're in. Get hit by them and you'll loose speed. Dodge them to gain speed. If you go to 0 MPH you lose. There will be power-ups and bonuses. There will be a clock constantly running, and the goal of the game is to get the highest time. Compete with worldwide high scores. Oh... and don't get struck by lightning!

The game is currently in review and screenshots and video are coming in the next week...

This sounds like it follows the "Back to the Future" movie franchise storyline which were my favorite growing up. Look forward to seeing the screenshots.

Will Marty or the Doc be driving? Back to the Future was and still is one of my favorites.

As much as I would love to do this, I would most likely be sued from Universal Studios if I added characters into the game. The game is already on the cusp of legality, and I've taken it as far as I can go without really stepping over a major line.

But I do wish I could add those characters!

If you show us something now and we like what we see, then we'll likely hold on to our giftcards/money for when it's released. Hold off showing us something an there's a chance we'll end up spending it on something else!

I hear where you're coming from, but then again, you never know what might have happened on the development side. They may have to decided to change the gameplay, altered some characters, restructured the format etc. Those are just examples, but any number of things can explain the delay in providing screenshots or updated information.

I wonder if the Devs thought about pitching this idea to Universal? Seems like a win/win situation to me. Universal get a share of profits from a game thats surely bound to sell well (Flying DeLorean?.. where do I sign?!), and the Devs get to legally add the characters, scenarios etc............... oh I'm feeling a hover board section coming haha. I know its probably more complicated than simply pitching an idea, but a nice thought all the same!

I don't think it was a joke. Maybe there's some infringement issues. Alien Abuse just got pulled this weekend from the store and there's talk that of infringement. So who knows...

DeLorean was a type of car I believe. Pure aluminium. So there should be no problem.

Turns out it is privately owned... I'd be willing to bet that the DeLorean in the game looked just like this one. I'm surprised the Dev hasn't been on here lately to keep us up to date on whats happening.

There has been a delay in the game for at least a few more weeks because of some problems uncovered that need to be fixed/changed. I will come on there and post about it soon. Sorry for the lack of communication on this!

We've got some model DeLoreans to use for the graphics, some nice scrolling backgrounds for the different timezones, and some other cool goodies, like player-to-player competition, etc. At this point it looks more like an end-of-May release now because I've redone most of the game. There is no legal action by Universal on this, so no need to worry there. We've just decided to take our time and actually make it a GOOD iPhone game instead of something quick and dirty.

I'll try to keep you all more up-to-date in the next few weeks and finally post some screenshots.

Update -

Sorry for the continued delay on this game guys, I know there are a number of you who are excited. I wanted to let you know that development is still continuing, but was slowed down last month due to another project that took priority. Next week Flying DeLorean will have resources put back on it though, and we're looking forward to an early Summer release.

I'm sorry that no video/screenshots have been posted yet. We're trying to make sure we have this thing right before we start spreading the word heavily, and then find out that we change something about it later on. I'll post when more hard details arrive.

Sorry guys, it's permanently on hold pending approval from Universal. Ran into some legal issues. We think they'll be resolved, but for the time being this is on hold.

When we have actual demos to show you and a release date, I'll post again. Sorry to disappoint.

I suppose if your app gets denied the best thing to do would be to change it to a spoof, use fake comical names, change travelling through time into jumping between dimensions... that kinda thing.
