Not so sure about fieldrunners (only 3 maps) but galcon is definitely amazing. GET GALCON NOW!!! :D

It involves strategy elements like Fire Emblem, but its real-time and fast-paced. Also, there's internet multiplayer

Dont get Virtual Villagers 2. I thought it was a complete waste.

I totally disagree. It is one of my favorite games. If you are an impatient gamer who wants an instant fix with blood, guts and gore, it won't be for you. If you want a deep, fun involving game where it's in real time even as you sleep (if you don't put it on pause that is(, then this game is def long term.

I'd put in a second vote for Puzzle Quest. It's a fairly innovative idea (an RPG, but you fight battles by playing a match-3 puzzle game), and it can potentially take hours and hours.

CandyNJ66
03-27-2009, 08:43 PM
The Quest, ElementalMonster TD (technically I don't yet but from what others say, it's very challenging and I love it), Hospital Havoc, Airplane Mania, Wolfenstein 3D (if you don't use cheat codes), Bookworm, Besiegement TD, Let's Golf. All have long term play.

I know what type of game your looking for. Sadly since the prices for games have set a new standard of $10 or lower, the games have less content. Here are some that are great and I know that you would like seeing as I like Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon(Never played Fire Emblem).

Payback is a great GTA clone that delivers over 10 hours of gameplay. It is a huge game, and with the update that has the angled camera view and a lower price, the game can't get any better(Unless made 3rd person, of course.). Lite version = YES

Puzzle Quest is an awesome port of the console variants and has over 20 hours of gameplay but isn't really the type of game you'd like(I may be wrong though!) It's an RPG with match-3 battle system. It's addictive and a great game with it's most recent update that added an extra 10 hours of gameplay. Lite version = YES

Soul Trapper is an amazing audio adventure game that in my opinion has the most best story out of any game made for the iPhone to date. Great voice acting, fun gameplay. Also, not exactly the type of game your looking for but it's still a great game(meant to be played with headphones) with over 5 hours of gameplay with a great engaging story and great characters. Lite version = YES

Rolando is one of the most anticipated games of '08 and wasn't a let down for me. It brought great gameplay, amazing graphics, and tons of polish. Its gameplay is similar to Mario but more interactive environment, no killing enemies, more avoiding contact with them, cool physics and over 4 hours of gameplay. Lite version is 1/4th of the full game. Lite version = YES

Hero of Sparta is also a highly anticipated game of '08. Smooth 3D graphics and smooth gameplay. Amazing controls for a hack n slash. The game itself is a masterpiece in its own way and is a must buy for $5.99 with over 5 hours of gameplay. Lite version = NO

Brothers in Arms is a fantastic third person shooter, purchasers have complained of it's control though. I found the controls perfectly fine after my first mission(tutorial) through the game. The game has insane graphics with lots of vehicles, tons of guns, WWII style gameplay, and lots more. This game offers over 5 hours of gameplay. Lite version = NO

These games are some of my most personal favorites. They are all console quality games and each deserve a look.

I am not that kind of gamer. I just didnt see the depth in the game. It was just completely repetitive with not so good graphics.

I don't know if Rogue Touch is in depth enough for you but it is a game that I never get bored of. It can take a couple hours if you get a good game but its something that you get better at over time. Plus its always getting great updates.
Wolfenstein is really worth it too. Not to mention doom and quake when they arrive. :D

If it hasn't been mentioned already, get Wolfenstein 3D. I am still playing it 17 years after buying it. You will probably never finish Ms. Pac-Man either (I am starting to think there is no end.) PuzzleQuest seems to be a lengthy one as well.

Wait for Car Jack Streets, you have to pay $50000 every week to pay off $1,000,000, so that's pretty long term. And it's in real time, so if you miss a week in real life, you miss a week in the game.

I'd say Bounce On is worth a look, I put an awful lot of time into getting 100% completion for the 3 current worlds. Plus with the promise of (i think) another 3 worlds to come as free updates, you can't really go wrong.

CDubby94

I'd either choose Fieldrunners or Galcon (which is on sale for $.99 now)

I think by "long term" he means platformers, judging by the examples he gave, which those two are not. Fieldrunners and Galcon have replay value, but I wouldn't call them long term.

Personally, I like Bugdom 2, but that may only be because I used to play the first one on the old Macs in like second grade.

Zarzunabas
04-02-2009, 12:58 PM
Well IŽd suggest getting:

-Rolando (Platformer)
-Vay (Oldschool-Round-Based-RPG)
-Bounce On (Platformer)
-Warfare Inc. (Strategy game like C&C)
-Dungeon&Hero (Best Action RPG atm I think)
-Chronicles Of Inotia: Legend of Feanor (Action RPG)
-Hero of Sparta (God of War for the iPod Touch :D)
-geoDefense (TD-Game which is quite difficult)
-Sway (Platformer)

Jailbreak your iPhone, download some emulators, download some ROMs, and voila, a lot of in-depth games. Although the controls and graphics lack substantially from the consoles the games were originally made for.

04-02-2009, 05:24 PM
How Long Can You Press This Button might be the best choice. It lasts as long as you want it to--no limit! And it never gets any less fun than it started ;)

(Or on a more serious note, try Enigmo. 50 levels at least, and they get quite challenging. For a TD, consider Elemental Monsters, 7Cities or geoDefense. All have lasted me for many hours and have a lot of depth/complexity.)

Vinny554
04-02-2009, 05:52 PM
Fieldrunners or iDracula.

iDracula seriously will keep you playing for a while. Everyone I know (including me) plays it at least like once a day.

Oh, or Zombieville USA, but you lose interest after a while because every level is the same.

04-02-2009, 06:56 PM
By long term I assume you mean games that have something new all the time as well as have long term campaigns. Here are a few:

1. Sim City - Still playing after months (Have to reach year 3000)
2. Fastlane Street racing - (Gets very difficult - but still doable for a very)
3. Orions - Legend of Wizards: Takes time to learn and lots of replay value one on one.
4. Wolfenstein 3D: Lots of levels - you'll never finish it
5. Frotz - can be extremely long term. But not everyone may like that sort of thing.

Hope this is useful!

Depends what you want.

Action: Hero of Sparta .99 for now. Fun hack and slash game.
RPG: Zenonia 5.99 3 classes and it takes about 20 hours to beat the game once.
Tower Defense: The Creeps .99 on sale 30 stages with achivements.
Simulation: Bike or Die 2 6.99 2000 downloadable levels but very hard. Try lite version first.

I tend to favor small, simple games without a lot of content but a ton of replayability. flight control, trism, frenzic, fieldrunners, superball, and ishoot can keep me occupied for a long time.

That's good to hear. I have tried to analyse what type of gamer I am. Casual? Hard Core? I certainly don't class myself as a hardcore gamer, otherwise I would be playing WoW the whole time. I do like to dip into games, but not feel like I am married to them as with something like an RPG. Having said that, I don't like my games to be overly simple either. I guess I am one of those rare 'medium core' gamers:o

I suppose I'm in the same class you are then. I've never played SC or WoW, ever. I imagine I'd suck at those pretty badly anyways. RPGs like Zenonia don't really appeal to me, I don't think I'd ever maintain enough interest in it to ever finish the game.

Zenonia, great RPG with 40+ hours of gameplay

Reign of Swords or Reign of Swords II, RTS game, deep singleplayer experience, and multiplayer gives almost unlimited replayability.

Civilization Revolution. strange catagorize though, not alot of levels cause its turn based strategy, but so much content and depth it'll definately keep you busy and up to your neck in details. plus when you master it you can go get a full mind-boggling version of it for pc.

I second "The Quest" it even has an expansion (2.99) and more planned to be released.
As well, Zenonia does pretty good on length, both of these are RPGs' by the way so ignore this post if u dont like rpgs' The quest=3d Zenonia=2d
