Need help with touch 2G problem

Hey guys, I jailbroke my mates iPod the other day and this morning he rang me saying that whenever he opens an app (apart from the stock ones, inc/ cydia) it crashes. I told him to restart it but nothing happens..
Is there a way to fix this problem without having to restore?

He said the problem only occured after he was trying to sync stuff in iTunes.
