So my question is: What are promo codes?
I realize they give you the game for free, but how do you use them?

You enter them as if you were registering a gift card, and then it downloads the game for free. They only work in the US.

They give you a code. You then go to the itunes home page and click on REDEEM and type in the code. The game that the code is for then starts downloading at no cost.

So you click on redeem in the app store, and it gives you money for the price of the game? But you can only spend it on that game?

Right the code is NOT money. Its just a code to download that specific game only. It does it automatically after you enter the code.

Think of downloading a free game when you redeem a code.

No need to be idiots. I searched, and nothing came up. How the hell am I supposed know how they work?

Don't take it personally, it's too hard for some people to pass up an opportunity to postcount++ when they could just hit their back button instead.
