What's the actual poirmt of this game though..it looks nice..but other than crashing into everything, what's the goal and can anything actually kill you?

Eh, you fall? Or possibly get killed by enemies if not careful.

The goal is, well, to reach the goal, apparently.

It definitely looks great on the iPad (1). I love the artwork. The gameplay is very fast paced. I've only gotten through Paris so far.

I found this game play video. It's the iPhone version running on the iPad. The iPad graphics (HD version) looks better.

Actually took a chance on this one from the earlier posts and its quite fantastic! Definitely worth the two bucks and alot of fun..not sure how this one slipped under the radar so severely...

On a side note, one thing i didnt care for was after finishing tge first lvl it gives you a 'special'. Code to go onto facebook for a 'little surprise' .....which turned out to benothing more then ads/coupons for junk/special offers...kinda lame...

This little gem of a game is getting lost amidst the hundreds of other apps going on sale this weekend. Indeed it's a terrific game.

As opposed to the free lap-dance you were expecting out of it? :D

LOk, not not a lap dance, although that would have been preferable!

Seriously tgo, I was expecting a game unlockable or some artwork or wallpaper, maybe making of video or ore production scetchboards....not Spam ads :-(

Hi Chris,
Has the free run update come out on the HD version? Last I checked earlier today, it hadn't - thanks!

Hi Chris,
Has the free run update come out on the HD version? Last I checked earlier today, it hadn't - thanks!

Hi,

Right now we're trying to keep the updates of the standard and HD versions in sync as much as possible. So for the time being, you can expect all new features for both versions, at roughly the same time - however, this might change at some point in the future.

Here's a quick overview of the update roadmap for Demolition Dash:

- v1.1 - the version initially released on the App Store

- v1.2 and v1.3 - these are bugfix versions to solve a couple of issues that have slipped by us at release, unfortunately. In the best case, you're not even going to notice the differences compared to v1.1, because you haven't encountered the issues yet.

- v1.4 - coming up a bit later this month. We have been listening very closely to the reviews and postings since launch, both positive and negative. This update is all about the latter, and we'll incorporate the most immediate remedies. I will announce the details soon.

- v2.0 - that's the free update we're all waiting for. Among other very nice things, it will feature the Endless Run mode. We're still heavily in development though - please stay tuned. I'll post more details on the new features as they get along.

In the meantime, I have been noticing on Game Center that the scores in the highscore lists are still way below what is possible. The combo system can work wonders if you figure out the perfect route through a level.
So I hope you are still enjoying the World Rampage levels - please keep playing, and get some much-needed practice for the Endless Run mode!

Hi janitor,

Thanks a lot, glad that you like the game!

There is an iPhone version of the game out now, which natively supports the full Retina Display resolution, and has been adapted to the wide screen aspect ratio of the iPhone and iPod touch. So this version will give you all the HD quality you can get on iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G.

Hey there!

Ok, inspired of this thread I bought DD for my iPad and I don't regret it :D
It's so much fun if you just need to distract yourself from work or your kids for a short time ;)
This little Zilla stole my heart right away and I can't wait to get access to the endless run mode. Is there any estimated date for this feature?

Really loving your work so far! :)

Hi Bellabella,

That's splendid!

Regarding the endless run mode, we are currently working hard to finish both the version 1.4 and 2.0 updates.
I don't have an exact date yet, but we hope that you'll be playing the endless run mode (v2.0) by the end of this month, and we plan to submit the v1.4 to Apple for approval early next week.

Here is a quick status update:

Sorry, version 1.4 has been delayed for one week. We now plan to submit the update to Apple for approval next Monday.

However, version 2.0 is still on track, and I am very pleased how both updates are turning out. It seems that we can include even more improvements and new features than originally planned, and the new and improved Demolition Dash is going to be really sweet.

I'll post the details on v1.4 once we're ready to submit.

One of the suggestions I would make for DD is to make the vertical
scrolling/movement of the background less linear, i.e. tie it to
Zilla's momentum, so that there is less visual "bobbing" of the
background. This is the one thing that everyone I showed the game to
commented on.

Hi Digital Accent,

Thank very much for your valuable feedback!

Actually, we have been investigating the camera bobbing topic since it has come up in some of the reviews a few weeks ago. As you can imagine, it is not quite trivial to change the camera movement in the game without compromising some other aspects. So we are taking our time to really get the best results. But you can definitely expect matters much improved with the upcoming version 2.0.

I saw you posting a similar comment on the iPhone version thread.

May I ask which device you're playing on? Do you feel that both the iPhone and iPad version are similarly affected?

I'll post the details on v1.4 once we're ready to submit.Hey everyone,

I almost didn't get around to keep you posted. The v1.4 update has been submitted to Apple on Monday as planned, and is now in review status. So you can expect to get the free update on your devices really soon!

Here are the details: The memory requirements of Demolition Dash HD have been reduced dramatically. This permits significantly faster load times and should eliminate the sporadic low-memory crashes that a few of you have been experiencing.
A really unfortunate bug that caused crashes on devices running versions of iOS prior to 4.0 has been fixed.
The pacing of the first levels has been slowed down to make the game much easier to pick up for beginners.
The sound effects have been remixed and are now much more pleasing.
The new "Reset Player Progress" option is now available in the settings menu.
The iTunes music library support has been improved to support app suspend/resume.
The game-over animations for little Zilla have been enhanced.

One more thing - we are determined to support you with every single problem that Demolition Dash HD might have.
So if you're still experiencing any troubles after the v1.4 update, please contact us - either right here in the Touch Arcade forum, or on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/dreamfab), or by using our contact form (http://www.dreamfab.com/contact/) (soon to be augmented by a new support page).

In further news:
The development of the v2.0 update is progressing somewhat slower than planned, but we're not too far behind the original schedule. I have already played a good version of the Endless Run mode this week, and we're planning to submit the update to Apple on... 4th of July, actually.

I just picked DD HD up at the great sale price of 99 cents.

It is a fantastic game, but I find the scrolling somewhat headache inducing. What is it about this game's animation that is different from all the other side scrolling games I have had on my iPad to cause this?Hopefully, something in the coming V2 may help with this.

Still, I want to keep playing it. It has fun gameplay and fantastic graphics. The music is quite nice too.

Hey slewis7,

Actually yes, version 2.0 is going to remedy this.

We have identified the vertical camera movement as the culprit - particularly with version 1.4 of Demolition Dash HD on iPad/iPad 2, the camera is/was moving downwards a little bit too quickly during jumps, with a too pronounced camera bobbing upon landing. This has been fixed in version 2.0, so you'll be able to enjoy Demolition Dash HD without any headaches.

Btw, version 2.0 has been submitted to Apple for approval yesterday as planned. So you'll be playing the free update sometime next week. We'll post the details soon, please stay tuned.

Hey folks,

The massive v2.0 update has passed approval and is now live on the App Store, both for Demolition Dash and Demolition Dash HD. Get it while its still hot!

Here are a few highlights:

Demolition Dash HD is now universal.
The new Endless Run mode is finally here.
In addition to the standard Endless Run, we have added a new Practice Mode, for all the beginners and newbies to easier get the hang of things, and for all you connoisseurs out there who just want to sit back and enjoy the pretty graphics.
We've added detailed in-game statistics to check out your progress in the game - you're not going to let go before hitting 100%, are you?
OpenFeint: Share your highscores and achievements using the OpenFeint network in addition to Game Center.
More languages: Play Demolition Dash HD in French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Lots and lots of bigger and smaller improvements based on your feedback. For example, we have reworked the camera to move much more smoothly, and we have modified the levels to make enemies stand out and be spotted more easily.

Right now, there is an issue with posting Endless Run highscores that slipped by our Q/A. The fix is already done, but unfortunately we have to submit to Apple again. Please expect v2.0.1 to hit the App Store next week. Sorry for this!

Other than that, we're really thrilled by how the v2.0 update has turned out, and we're now looking forward to your feedback!

Especially, you'll notice that we have not ramped up the challenge in the Endless Run mode, and Demolition Dash HD has become more laid-back overall. The final word on this has not been spoken yet, but right now we have listened to the majority of your feedback, who found the game to be too fast for its own good.
On the other hand, we have not touched the difficulty of the World Rampage levels - they are still there, just as challenging as ever. We feel that as an overall package, this approach gives you the broadest choice:
Whether you want to relax in a round of Practice Mode, or get back to improving those New York and London highscores in World Rampage mode, or anything in between - everyone should now find the right level of challenge in Demolition Dash.

Still we're not done - this is not the end of the line for Demolition Dash HD. We're already having heated discussions about the improvements for a v2.1 update, which is scheduled for September.
So please tell us what you think - we'll consider every line of feedback in our future updates!

For more information on our upcoming titles, please check out our website http://www.dreamfab.com, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

cheers,
/chris

Great update. It no longer gives me that headache feeling at all, although at times it remains difficult for me to pick out specific targets. The slower modes in the endless run will definitely be appreciated and this should stay on my active play list for a long time.

Hi folks,

The version 2.0.1 is now available. We have submitted this update shortly after the version 2.0 in order to fix an issue with posting Endless Run highscores, but we have also grabbed the chance to do a little more than that. Here's the gist:

Fixed the posting of Endless Run highscores to Game Center and OpenFeint: no more 0 highscores!
Rebalanced the Endless Run speed increase, both in the standard and practice mode.

In practice mode, speed increase is now slower than before so that you stay in that comfort zone a bit longer where the learning effect is biggest.
In standard mode, the pacing is now even more deliberate: After a slow start of about 1 minute to get you oriented, the increasing pace will remain in that "just-right" fun zone for about 5 minutes. After that, the real highscore hunt is on - see you on the global leaderboards!

Please tell us how you like the new Endless Run! Every line of feedback is considered and will help us improve Zilla's adventures in the future.

Amazing graphics. One of the best for iOS. Really really very crisp. And I like the effort put in the music for the game. As for the gameplay, not sure yet. So far it can be summed up by pressing jump over a gap, or pressing roar (your only weapon) when you approach stationary enemies. Might play a couple games more to see if there are more dynamics in the game. What's for sure though is that the Game Center integration is broken. It doesn't connect whatsoever, much less sync any scores. Only Open Feint seems to be working. And I'm running iOS 4.3.3.
