I was just wondering which program would I use to jailbreak iPhone 3G?
Don't want to mess it up!

Any tutorial sites/youtube videos would be appreciated.

Which tutorial should I follow?
The one on the site seems confusion and overloaded with jargon/terms I do not understand.

My Modem Firmware is 20.30.03 if that makes a difference and at 2.2.1 (5H11)

Okay. These are the very, VERY, easy steps to jailbreaking an iPhone 3G.

1. Download QuickPwn.
2. Update your iPhone firmware to the latest firmware through iTunes.
3. Run QuickPwn. (Make sure iTunes is closed throughout this entire process.)
4. Follow the steps to put your iPhone into DFU mode. (If iTunes appears here, exit out of it.)
5. Let QuickPwn do the rest!

If you have any issues or problems, ask me. Hope that works (it should).

NOTE: If you want to UNLOCK your phone, not just jailbreak it, you must update your firmware to 2.2.1 but not your baseband. I do not know how to do this. These steps are only if you want to jailbreak your device.

What's the difference between "unlocking" and "jailbreaking/InstallerApp-ing" the iPhone? I want to install some applications I downloaded from outside of iTunes, and they are in the .ipa format; iTunes prevents these from installed since they are not verified. Which method should I use? I'm new to this. x3

Jailbreaking. Unlocking means you can use the iPhone for services other than AT&T (like using the iPhone with T-Mobile service).

Is jailbreaking reversible? Would I be able to restore the phone back to its original condition (warranty valid and everything) if I decide to switch back to using just iTunes? Also would it even work with iTunes like normal (ie, downloading and syncing apps, books, etc)?

Ok...I've been browsing in here and I'm sorry for asking what's probably a silly question. I'm at work right now and have a lot of spare time (yay downtime!) and want to Jailbreak for some of those nifty themes. I do NOT have all of my songs/games on the iTunes on this computer. Will Jailbreaking wipe my songs/apps/contacts/ringtones or would I be safe to do it here? I suppose I could grab an application that will pull all of my music off of the phone to have on the PC if needed, I'd just like to avoid that if at all possible.

it is best to jail break on a freshly restored iphone. you should go onto itunes hit restore and restore it to facoty with nothing installed on it, then jailbreak then put on what you want.
