I love the Steam version. Anyone how much the IAP is? touchy85 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2015 1,616 1 38 #3 touchy85, Mar 17, 2016 Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel The name says it all, you're fighting in coliseums. I'm not really a big fan of that, it's basically an empty place where the battles take place. The game doesn't explain what spells do and after using some of them I'm still not sure what they do. It's not bad, but I'm not really enjoying it when I play. jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #4 jsrco, Mar 17, 2016 The controls are amazing, the gameplay is fluid. It just seems to have an unlock IAP and that's it.... But for the love of *** why is this onlin only? fabell Well-Known Member Feb 3, 2016 161 0 0 #5 fabell, Mar 17, 2016 Awesome game! Controls are amazing, never had this much fun with so few pixels and still felt so alive on the battlefield (play as the mage or ranger as kiting is just awesome). Too bad about the online requirement. It always freezes up when I level up ("failed to contact server"), when I accidentally click on my character (stats have to load from server), and if you die without paying the gold for a save I'm guessing you have to start over (it's pricy, 250 per save and it appears you have to make new gold each time you enter a new arena, as the other gold doesn't carry forward). Gripes aside, the devs did an amazing job with the simple graphics and composed some sweet tunes. Story could be a bit more but that's not really why you are playing the game. Apparently the first six levels are free. I played for about 20 minutes and didn't hit the paywall yet so I can't comment on that. The online freezes and overall slowness of their server is killing my desire to keep trying. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and downloaded - so disappointed. Dev, with all seriousness - port the Steam version over, add MiFi and charge us £10, you'll sell a shed load of copies. This.....this is......this is just terrible - a poor, poor substitute for a stellar game. I love it on Steam and iPhone/Pad is crying out for a port. Please?! Edit: And just to add - atthe very least, please give us twin stick controls and the ability to play offline. The requirement to 'log in' is a little to much like a 'f2p' app for my liking and feel it's pretty unnecessary for a game like this. Thanks. It may just be server issues or overloaded, but in a half hour of play, I got only two matches in. The game was freezing up any time I tried changing anything. If I beat a match and left out of one dungeon, I couldn't get to the second dungeon because it was cut off the screen or if changed my character, I would get a server issue pop-up. Hopefully things get worked out because this does seem like an awesome game. FYI, this was on an iPhone 6. I'm going to try it on my iPad Air 2 and see if I get some better results. jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #9 jsrco, Mar 17, 2016 If I turned wifi off it worked great, first boss battle was a glitch fest. This just has an unlock for past arena 6. Not f2p at all from what I am seeing. No IAP currency either. But the online only it tedious. It also slows down to barely a crawl when you have a lot on the screen. Maybe if this all gets fixed and it goes offline. But not recommended in its current state. If this is anywhere near the original it should be fantastic. He was really good about updating bugs and adding features quickly, so I'd expect the same here. jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #14 jsrco, Mar 17, 2016 This isn't the same developer of the PC version if you read their forums. They have endorsed it but it is not the same. ZS77 Well-Known Member May 8, 2015 566 2 18 #15 ZS77, Mar 17, 2016 It's a real shame - the Steam version is a cracking little indie dungeon crawler/roguelite which comes in to its own when played with friends. This, well, what can I say - it's a poor, bug ridden shadow of itself. Harsh perhaps but somewhat true. /Rant/ Not from the same Dev huh?! Considering how poorly implemented and bug ridden it is at present (same consistent issues with connecting/playing games/crashing etc), if it wasn't for the free to try and IAP to unlock, I would have said this was just a cheap attempt to cash in on the licence. If the Devs have longer term plans to fully port the original game and/or resolve the current issues (including the poorly implemented control scheme) then I will happily eat my words - until then, the man from Delmonte, he say "no"! /Rant over/ Seriously though, really had my hopes raised when I saw this had been released. Unfortunately I'm left feeling underwhelemed and a bit gutted. Fair enough, I've not wasted any money on it but the fact remains, it's a great licence with huge potential that seems to have been wasted. Yes there are more dungeon crawler/roguelites out there than I can count but we know the good ones (which the original Steam release of Hammerwatch is) sell well, so why change the formula?! The same business model could have been used and the 'coliseum' element could have been added later as a bonus or IAP. Just seems like a crazy decision to me. And while we're on the subject of Steam ports, I'm still seething about Hero Siege being abandoned and removed from the App Store - ok, technically not a port as it was on mobile first but you get my point.....hopefully?! mj132 Well-Known Member Oct 2, 2013 354 5 18 United Kingdom #16 mj132, Mar 17, 2016 Always online I'll give this one a miss Artfoundry Well-Known Member May 11, 2009 2,519 2 38 COO and Creative Director at LCD Dreams, Inc. We are doing the best we can to get it working better. Online mode only This is something we decided to add to be able to have toplists and stuff with unique usernames, and in the future add multiplayer support, but since a lot of people seems bothered with it we will definitely look at adding offline mode. Controls Some people like our controls and some people think virtual thumbsticks would be better, and that is kind of what we expected. We decided to have this control scheme because we liked it a lot better and it produced better game play We will be reading the comments and suggestion we get and will address issues that people have to make the game as good as possible.
