In the game variously known as Chinese whispers, Telephone, Broken Telephone, Whisper Down the Lane, Gossip, Arab Phone (from the French Le téléphone arabe), and Stille Post (Silent Post), the first player whispers a phrase or sentence to the next player. Each player successively whispers what that player believes he or she heard to the next. The last player announces the statement to the entire group. Errors typically accumulate in the retellings, so the statement announced by the last player differs significantly, and often amusingly, from the one uttered by the first. The game is often played by children as a party game or in the playground.

Now for the fun part. We created a digital version of this game. You now have the ability to play Telephone on your iPod Touch and iPhone. This application has push notifications as well as email invite features.

Please let us know what you think. We are launching this app next week and look forward to the hours of fun and messages passed around the world.

If you would like an advance copy or to be notified of launch please email us at [email protected]

We want to set a Guinness World Record for longest distance traveled with a Telephone Game

    Sounds like a funny idea.

But - any game with too many people in it is sure to get goobered up quickly, and in fact just playing this game with random people I bet the phrase is going to be completely different most of the time.

Be sure to include a 0-100% accuracy marking option for the original speaker, this would make for an interesting statistic.

We totally get it drelbs. That is why we have included a private feature where people can create their own games and only invite their friends. Also, we look forward to the thousand turn game where everything gets garbled.

If this is based on a community, yes. If this is some kind of bluetooth multiplayer, no.

Cool! I'll just hope there wont be people who moan into the microphone or scream, etc.

we are going to monitor the servers to make sure we don't have any offensive turns etc... we are also hoping that the private game feature will be utilized amongst friends so we don't have strangers ruining the game for people. as with any user driven game, we will ned to learn from our base and adjust accordingly.

Wow - I love the UI! And I think it'll be interesting seeing what all the phrases will sound like after 10 - 20 turns. :p
