I built this myself in cocos2d and it's my first finished game. Thanks for checking it out and feel free to ask me any questions. Regards, Grillaface
Finally submitted binary a couple days ago, so barring unfavorable review looks like launch will be on 4/18. This weekend I'll be working on video trailers and tutorials as well as a comprehensive online manual for the game. The rules are simple and easy to understand, but behave different than what you may expect based on previous entries in this genre. Here's the app icon: Let me know what you think! This is a really solid game!
Here's a shot I whipped up to try and visually communicate movement and the "ring" building concept in Floris:
Hey thanks - yes it's a universal app - runs on iPhone4+ and on any iPad. Though admittedly performance is worse on older devices, high framerate is not such a huge deal for this type of game. Consider someone made an LED version of Tetris on a pumpkin and you'll see what I mean But on Iphone5 and newer iPads it's ridiculously fast and smooth. Floris is completely add free, no IAP, and 100% indie developed an unfunded. It's a product of my passion for games. I setup GameCenter leaderboards but decided to remove them until the first update for two reasons: 1) I was having trouble getting the LeaderBoard views to pop correctly in app 2) I want to get user feedback on the scoring model I designed before making "permanent" global leaderboards.. For #1 I don't know if this was just a Game Center Sandbox (the development version) issue or something I was doing wrong - at any rate GameCenter and achievements will be available in the first update (about a week after launch). Just consider the first week practice time so you can be ready to hit the top of the charts after the update In this first version I've included 4 main game modes: Timed (infinite, 1 min, 2 min, 5 min) Song (play the game for the duration of any one of the games awesome FIVE theme songs) 1 Ring (game ends when you build one ring. There are two ways to play this mode, targetting fastest time and targetting highest score)... 100 (the game plays until you've planted 100 florus on the florii) There will be separate leaderboards for each mode. Also configurable are the number of colors on the board. The difficulty increase greatly with each color added (2 is easy, 3 is normal, 4 is hard). You can also select your start level (1-12) that affects the drop speed, board rotation, and score multipliers. I'm a lifelong Tetris addict - seriously I play around an hour a day online - but I never play on iOS because I dont' like the way they implemented the controls. So I started thinking about different ways the game could be controlled and that's where the idea for Floris was born. Given that it was critical for me to nail the controls - and I may be biased but I believe they work incredibly well and are super responsive. Feel free to ask any other questions because I love talking about this game!!
