Online or offline? Nullzone ð® Spam Police ð Jul 12, 2013 3,669 79 48 Male #3 Nullzone, Feb 20, 2017 First impressions Played for an hour or so, completed the first campaign chapter and one stage of the second. First good news is that it's playable offline. Graphics are okay: they look good enough, but not great/special. Runs smooth most of the time, exception see below. I encountered two bigger robots already, which look much better than the generic cannonfodder enemies. Gameplay is ok too: not too twitch-based, which old me always appreciates Aim assist and autofire are a very nice addition. If they keep up the enemy variety, things should be golden: First chapter had several kinds of security bots. Second one plays in the desert; enemies in Stage 1&2 are large scorpions and some strange-looking 2-legged thing, plus a boss I won't spoil Energy system felt really generous for the time I played. Took me over an hour to deplete my reserves; and then it shows it takes only an hour or so till they are back to full. Not so good stuff: - I really want a "turn 180 degrees" button. - Sometimes freezes for half a second or second on my Air1. Just enough to be annoying. - Some control issues. E.g. gun doesn't stop firing even with autofire turned off. Also, autofire sometimes just shoots too slow, way below the max rounds per second you can put out with manual fire. - Difficulty spike as early as Chapter 2: My weapon and armor isn't strong enough to complete Ch.2 Stage 2, and from the looks of it I need to do a good bit of grinding to get the upgrades I need. Way too early for that, no smooth progression. But I suppose this is due to F2P mechanics. - F2P: Gets shoved in your face pretty quick. First Chapter was very okay. After that it started showing those "buy pack X" ads a tad too often for my taste. - Pricepoints for new weapons and armour look insane. E.g. almost 500k Gold (normal currency) for a new gun, when so far I only earn a few thousand at most per stage? Or 500 Crystals (premium currency) for another, didn't even check how much those would cost as IAP. --> I expect to run into a hard paywall sooner than later. - Looks like you'll have to do lots of grinding to get materials for upgrades. Would have been better in my book if they had left that out entirely. Will play on a bit more, see where things go from here. Nullzone ð® Spam Police ð Jul 12, 2013 3,669 79 48 Male #7 Nullzone, Feb 22, 2017 And I'm done with this game. Unlocked Chapter 3, and the difficulty and required firepower jumped up so much it's not funny. The "recommended power" doubled from ~8000 for the last stage in chapter 2 to ~16000 for the first stage in chapter 3. I tried anyways, no way to win even ch.3 st.1 with what I currently have. So for now all I can do is massive grind to get up to the required powerlevel. Nah, not doing that, don't feel like it. Part of it is that the stages are so short, and you need to replay them a lot that grind looks incredibly annoying and boring. Was fun while it lasted, but the game balance is pretty much out of wack. Leaves me wondering if they did that on purpose to get you to buy IAP stuff, or if it's just bad game design. boydstr Well-Known Member Sep 25, 2016 155 11 18 Male Gamer Netherlands #8 boydstr, Feb 22, 2017 A lot of games are ruined by high paywalls. I really like to try this but after reading some reviews from others about the high paywalls and the to short levels I think I will pass I don't have to much of a problem with grinding but when you have to do this on verry short levels it's becoming boring I rather pay upfront when I like a game FTP ruined a lot of games in the AppStore!
