Hi, did not saw this around, so here is the the first video from the iPhone version of Fishlabs Galaxy on Fire. Release should be around the end of march, for $5,99. Game will have improved sound, graphics and some other additions like a survival mode.
If you look at the vid, the player can turn and chase passing enemies, so it's free flight rather than on rails.
Here's the problem I have with the video: Why in the hell is the game controlled via an onscreen joystick? I mean...seriously? Wouldn't it make more sense to use the accelerometer to control flight?
Who cares about the controls.. It says hundreds of star systems and complex trading? Elite for the iPhone?????? This sounds like much more than a simple space shooter, I think its the game I've been waiting for! Even the PSP does not have a space exploration game yet. By the way it does say accelerometer controlled as well.
Thanks for the clarification on the controls...I couldn't access the video this morning from where I was at.
Ah...so it is accelerometer controlled too. Good to know. *adds to list of games to buy *sighs That's a long ass list....
You can find more infos on the official website (java version) here. The full press release with additional info on the iPhone version can be found here.
This is good news! I have been waiting for this game to come too the idevice for ages. It's been out on some mobile phones for a while if i'm not mistaken, but not with this good graphics! Top rating in a review a couple of months ago. Finally a space simulator with some substance. Hope they really nail the controls. We won't look back...
I had the Java version of this for my mobile. It was one of the best games I had, lots of depth good controls. But I found the missions to be very repetitive with only 3-4 mission types repeated over and over so I got bored of it pretty quickly. I hope they improve this in the IPhone version as this could be a very good game.
I seriously hope this is more than just a shooter. If this is anything like a space exploration and trading game, I'm sold.
omgosh for ages i've been trawling through the app store looking for a game with the same depth as GoF. I played it on my Sony Ericsson w910, and I've never seen another game with anywhere near as much depth even on the App store. I so can't wait. Once you've played this, nothing's gonna satisfy you in terms of a RPG or a dogfighter until GoF 2 comes out on the iDevice. I can't get GoF 2 on my mobile because I don't have 3G. Damn. I mean, what other game offers you such good dogfighting action and such an in-depth upgrade system? Well, I hope they've improved the trade system from the mobile version of GoF. Either way, I'll buy this. Up to now, this is the only game which I'll have absolutely no hesitations about buying the moment it is release, even before any reviews come out.
So, this is like Freelancer for the Touch? Are the main quest missions also repetitive or just the side-quest ones? Looks very interesting, in any case.
