Alpaca? ? Or Llama? The concept art looks really good. Visit your site and grab the wallpaper, thanks for that... I use it as my iPad wallpaper right now. Just wish you'll reveal more wallpaper soon
That's a llama Glad to hear you're enjoying the wallpaper. When we have some new wallpaper to share we'll post it here!
Wow, I'm in love with this art style/color palette, looks fantastic. Excited to hear more about the gameplay!
This looks so stunning, don't know about the gameplay but the art is so appealing. Will keep an eagle eye on this thread
I'm also curious to find out more.. I have questions.. what ios is needed for minimum and maximum requirements, What devices will this be for or will it be universal, Will it need wifi at all times or just once etc.. Can you tell us more about your game, goals etc.. What inspired you to make this game, did you have fun making and testing this out?
Not 100% sure yet, but it'll likely require iOS 7+. The game runs on iPhone 4/4s, but it's definitely better on an iPhone 5+. Runs great on the first gen iPad mini, as well as iPad 3 and beyond. We're doing some really neat things, and we want to build the best game we can, so we're definitely building it with the latest hardware/software in mind. With that in mind we still intend on making it as "backwards compatible" as possible. iPhone, iPad, iPad mini, iPod touch, etc. It'll ship as a Universal app. You won't need an internet connection to play the game, but it will be required for certain aspects (e.g. Game Center), however you can play without internet and when you get back to your Wi-Fi (or data connection) it'll sync any new changes. Sure! We're big snowboarders ourselves, and were never satisfied with any snowboarding games in the App Store. Nothing we found really "did it" for us. We didn't find anything super fun, and most of the graphics are either too realistic (which we don't find works well on iOS for a game like this), or the artwork is too cartoon-y. At least for us and what we wanted. We've drawn inspiration from a variety of places. Things like Red Bull's "The Art of Flight" movie (which I totally recommend watching if you haven't – here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh29_SERH0Y) and Amped snowboarding (yes, the old game for the first Xbox lol), and our own experiences snowboarding in the Canadian Rockies out in Alberta and BC have inspired the kind of unique terrain we've built into the game. We've also been inspired by indie games like Journey, Windosill, Badland, Tiny Wings, and more. Even something like The Last Of Us can inspire a tiny detail that sparks a creative thought – even though our game couldn't be further from a full 3D console title. Even though we started working on this way before games like Monument Valley or Threes were out there (we started in January 2013), it's games like those that have inspired us to commit to being 100% paid, no in-app purchases, and no advertisements. It's a really exciting time to be making games, and it looks like Apple is excited about it too (e.g. their recent Indie Showcase section of the App Store). Check out this post on Cult of Mac for a few more details: http://www.cultofmac.com/280444/exclusive-look-altos-adventure-beautiful-endless-runner-ios/ Of course, this is the best part! Still having tons of fun Last but not least, here's a little goodie we shared on Twitter last Saturday. It gives you a closer look at the dynamic lighting system we've built, running realtime in Unity. You should follow us on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/altosadventure
