    Hi there,

I am planning to create a child learning app, wht make education app so different from other game app is, it's targeting parent and not kids

So, Where & how can we target parent traffic stream? Coz I don't want non relevant people jz click on my link, ads

My ideal traffic is: parent with kids, iphone users

I've seen http://www.netmums.com/ rolled out on the TV news here when they need the opinions of parents who know their way around the internet, so that could be a place to try?

I don't know any more than 'I remember hearing it on the news', but if that drives traffic to them, who drive traffic to you then that could be of some use I suppose...

To be honest, you should be targeting the kid not the parents. Parents generally don't go out with the intention to buy an app. In most cases it's the kid "bugging" the parents for a specific game or app until they get it. It's the same with any product for kids.

There is a reason all the candy is neatly placed next to the cash counter at grocery stores ;)

Now, maybe your first thought was that: "Hmm but the kid wouldn't buy that for themselves". Well, then you didn't make an app that is interesting for the kid but for the parents. In my eyes that is the wrong way to go about creating a children app.

We are going to have a Norwegian app called "Elleville Elfrid" in stores on the 31st of October. During the development of that app we worked closely with a Kindergarden and got feedback from the kids themselves. If you want to create something for kids THEY have to like it, not we or their parents :)

Just some food for thought from my side :)
However, marketing wise, you would want to position it where kids can see it. Those are the ones you should convince.

    Thanks for the suggestion kyena

It became an interesting topic now :)
Children from my country, maybe Asian, they loves cartoon, and hate study, it cost their brain power, tiring and pressured to get things right.
And if I target preschool, age 1-4 maybe, u definitely can't expect them to surf net, click on ads, read the app feature to understand how useful it is to them
Child jz don't care they can learn A-z after getting the app, but parent does
They enjoy most will watching tv

Getting kindergarten teacher involve is critical to understand the material, content for app so they can learn in a fruitful, fun situation.

    Comments & critics are welcome.

When it to comes to kids, specially young ones, you need to take the focus away of the usual channels we like to use. A natural choice would be to place a small add in a comic that gets read by kids. Or even more interesting, if you could get a publisher of books/magazines/toys, which kids love to read, interested.

Producing for kids is hard already but doing marketing for products involving kids is even more challenging (for young kids that is, which are too small to be on the social media channels). The questions is: what are kids in that age in your country (or target area) interested in and what are they exposed to. Then use those channels in whatever way possible to engage them. Specially for

You say that kids enjoy cartoons but don't enjoy learning apps. That it's the parents who want to buy the app. I do of course agree to a point but if you can create an app that looks appealing and includes the cartoon you mentioned and is fun, there is no reason that the kid wouldn't want it in the first place. Use a cute character they find interesting and respond to as your main idea for the app. A learning app doesn't have to be boring - actually a learning app SHOULDN'T be boring. It should be fun for the kid. Even if the parents buy the app that doesn't mean the kid ultimately likes using it.

Obviously in our case that might not necessarily be important since the sale has been done but in our case, we are VERY interested in creating something that the consumer (no matter how old or young) likes playing/using. If you create something that people like (as opposed to just playing then throwing it in a corner), you are on a good way to create a community of people who will stay interested in your products and are not just one time consumers.

    Man, thanks for the link

I hv spent half day in library today. Realized lots of parent chosing books to read for their kids. What i found out, a product contain visual ads (to attract kids eye ball), text (which the place to convince parent pay for the app)

It inspirate me to convince the library to promote my app, but it is almost impossible when they know u try to make money or fame from them
