Information Seller:Mark Hodgson Genre:Action, Arcade Release:Jan 04, 2017 Updated:Feb 09, 2017 Version:1.2 Size:85.7 MB TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating:Unrated Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal I'm the developer of this little app. For those who are interested it's written in Swift and SpriteKit as a hobby in the evenings and weekends. It's a casual physics-based space shooter with a number of particle effects, etc.. At the moment the gameplay is pretty basic and it's full of developer art I plan on adding a number of elements to the game over the course of the year, including a paid-for version with extra stuff. But wanted to know what people thought of it and what features and functionality you would be most interested in seeing in such a game. leaderboards? ship upgrades? more physics stuff? (My other game includes things like exploding mines, wormholes and other spatial anomalies) boss battles? missions? achievements? ??? I check all the above cuz to hear you will be adding to your creation sounds extra nice bigrand1 Well-Known Member Apr 23, 2010 4,968 6 38 Geriatric Party Animal California, USA #3 bigrand1, Jan 9, 2017 Welp, after like 20 plus minutes of this I deleted it. Movement is too slow, and I got bored pretty quickly. Was hoping some power ups might pick things up a bit, but in the time I was playing it, I didn't see that. Just can't deal with the slow, floating around slow motion feeling. Weapons are generic and generally blah--couldn't get excited while playing it at all. I'm done. markh0dgs0n Member Nov 21, 2015 6 0 0 Developer York, UK #4 markh0dgs0n, Jan 9, 2017 Thanks for your honest evaluation. Like I said, this is the foundation of a casual game and I do intend to extend and enhance it over the coming months. I'll certainly take your comments on board and look at speeding it up. Perhaps changing how the ship is controlled as you progress? I already have a few ideas on additional gameplay elements. And I'll re-think the weapons and power ups too. bigrand1 Well-Known Member Apr 23, 2010 4,968 6 38 Geriatric Party Animal California, USA #5 bigrand1, Jan 9, 2017 Okay, great! You know, I think if you leave it the way it is and use some power ups to speed your ship up maybe in different increments, that would be just the ticket to start with! And what if, when you got too many speed ups, your ship just totally goes out of control off the screen and at that point then you have to work to get the next power up that slows you down so as to be manageable again?! (you know---watch what you wish for kind of thing. Can you handle it?) Hmmm. And I did enjoy the green colored spread weapon though. Let's see, what if there were extra special weapon power ups temporarily when you blow up a flying saucer like a nuke that blows everything off the screen in a big beautiful explosion really quickly?!! Hey, when I get going, games get made! What do you think? I dunno. # markh0dgs0n Member Nov 21, 2015 6 0 0 Developer York, UK #6 markh0dgs0n, Jan 9, 2017 The additional gameplay elements I've been working on include exploding proximity mines that break up and shoot the asteroids off in faster directions and rockets that you fire that do the same sort of damage. I've also been working on wormholes that sucks nearby elements into it. Your comments have made me consider that entering the wormhole takes you to some new mini-games to keep it interesting and introduce different game mechanics. What do you think? I do agree that the weapons need an overhaul. There should be different speeds, scope, damage and effects. And lasers that cut through everything. Maybe I could use force touch to trigger a crazy shooting mode like in The Last Starfighter which shoots all weapons in a full circle, destroying everything on screen. I'll start playing with the controls and speed power ups and see how it handles. Thanks again. Look out for updates in the next few weeks to see how I'm progressing. bigrand1 Well-Known Member Apr 23, 2010 4,968 6 38 Geriatric Party Animal California, USA #7 bigrand1, Jan 9, 2017 I like the wormhole idea, and also the laser that cuts thru everything as well as a weapon that destroys everything with an outrageous explosion with booming sound! I'm starting to get a bit excited at the prospects of this game if you implement these things into it! Guess I'll have to re-download it to see what you can do with this! # markh0dgs0n Member Nov 21, 2015 6 0 0 Developer York, UK #8 markh0dgs0n, Jan 19, 2017 Update available While I work on the game's elements (such as power ups, weapons and controls)... I have released an interim version with new elements - updated graphics - exploding mines - more balanced gameplay As before, this is completely free - no IAP, no ads.
