Any recommendations for MAME-type "retro arcade" style games? I picked up "GoatUp" given its positive reviews, and was horribly, horribly disappointed. I love Forget-Me-Not (especially since I'm a Nethack addict); but the pinnacle of the retro arcade style that I'm talking about has to be ElectroMaster. Any other recommendations?
HungryMaster OT: Yea, ElectroMaster is awesome. I don't think anything else can compare to it. But get HungryMaster if you haven't already, since that's probably the most similar thing to ElectroMaster you can find on the AppStore.
Mr. Ahhh!! and Mr. Space!! are pretty fantastic. Also, if you like Joust, Glypha is a free clone with good controls.
Retro arcade games? P1XL Party and Pix'n Love Rush come to mind immediately. Consider the other Jeff Minter games, Minotaur Rescue and Minotron 2112 - perhaps even Deflex. Saucelifter is apparently based on a classic called Choplifter. Breakeroids is a hybrid of Asteroids and Breakout, though 99% Breakout for all intents and purposes. Bonkheads HD is a single screen Mario Bros style arcade game of sorts. For my Space Invaders kick, I like Velocispider.
Thanks for the recommendations— I've since picked up several, including Pix 'n Love Rush, which is a neat game, with a totally innovative retro-inspired style that blows me away. But... None of the recommendations really look like a MAME arcade game to me. Is ElectroMaster truly the only one? Say it isn't so!

try out space inversion 2 and retro dust. They've got loads of cool modes and skin options in them Think you can find space inversion2 free if you just want to give it a try.
