I was thinking how awesome it would b of a company like Nintendo could make an emulator for each of its consoles in which Is free and sell its games for various prices on the App Store . I would def buy every game I missed out on with a controller enabled as well as some being touch . They could even start mAkimg new titles for old systems . This would be a dream come true.

iOS emulators have run into all sorts of trouble as it usually isn't difficult to add your own games/code/etc.

There are a few still in the app store.

SEGA games were originally just a Genesis emulator, you could swap the ROM file.

SDBall was the same thing for NES.

Vectrex, Activision Anthology, Atari's Greatest Hits, Spectaculator, Midway Arcade, Galaga 30th Collection, Namco Arcade, various SNK titles (and probably others I forgot) are all still on the App Store.
